BFG Offers FREE Upgrade To PCI Express

About how long is this deal going to go, My card is in my last build at my uncles place far away, I won't get to it till next thursday night! I have the box here though. What should I do?

I love the post "this is a good deal" ... um yeah you're getting a free graphics card. But I think there are a few reasons they are doing this. Notice the $50 upgrade option? They probably make a few bucks on those cards. Plus, this is a great advertising method to grow their market share. I've generally stuck with EVGA but have considered checking out BFG

If a company is willing to do this, I think we really need to take a look at supporting them with our next GPU and Motherboard purchases.

And I'm not sure if this has been posted, but the eBay douches are selling the BFG AGP cards at the price of what the new PCI-E 'free upgrade' cards are going for, trying to get people to buy their AGP then trade it in. No, I'll just spend that money and strait out buy the upgrade card. Ass holes.

Dropped off my 6800 OC at a UPS store a few minutes ago. While BFG's offer to use their corporate rate was more than generous, it caused the clerk grief and confusion. I had a hard time getting her to understand that I was paying for it but using BFG's rate. She kept saying BFG was refusing it. Finally got through to her on the fourth try. $7.95 plus a 54 cent fuel surcharge.

Thanks, BFG. You guys are great. If I could afford a new MB and CPU right now I would have sent in my 6800GT OC, too, but it's just as well because I'm still emotionally attached to it.

ive got the problem of it saying it does not recognize my BFG serial number.

i pulled out my old 7800gs oc the serial begins with BFGR78256....

ill keep trying back later

got it, im a drunken tard

Sweet. Registered and just received my email. It does not mention needing the receipt so I wanted to ask the BFG guy here before I send my 6800 in....DO I need a receipt?

Thanks!

The receipt is not required for this offer. As long as you submitted your request and have your RMA number on the package, there shouldn't be any issues.

Has anyone seen any time frame on how long until the cards are shipped out once they receive the old card?

From 2003 through 2005, I purchased 4 BFG, AGP cards, 2 FX5900s, a 6800GT, and a 7800GS. One of the 5900s cratered, and BFG through the RMA process replaced it with a 5950…needless to say, I was very pleased, not only in the speed of the RMA return, but that I ended up with a better card. This effort to please the customer, led to my subsequent purchases of the 6800GT and then the 7800GS. More recently, I purchased the BFG 8800GT OCX for my son who just left for his freshmen year at college.

Fast forward to the present - I want to extend my sincere appreciation to BFG for their magnanimous offer to exchange old 6XXX and particular 7XXX AGP cards for new 9600GTs, essentially free of charge (except for the one way shipping charge, which for me was just over $7). To my knowledge this is an unparalleled customer service gesture and a unique event in the history of the video card industry! It is just one of those “WOW” events that rarely occurs, but deserves a lot of praise!

This unprecendented extension of customer service, should ultimately yield fierce brand loyalty. There are probably other reasons, from a finanicial perspective, for BFG to do this (promotion write-offs, reestablishing refurb stock for "lifetime" warranty coverage of older AGP cards, etc.) but no doubt, building a strong and loyal customer base is close to the top.

Needless to say, I have my 6800GT in route! I may hang on to the 7800GS a little longer...its value is holding up pretty well on eBay, I suspect because it delivers decent performance using older, lower wattage power supplies.

Awesome, I have a 6800OC sitting in my second machine, time to get a 9800! woohoo! glad I didnt trade away that card

I sent my 6800 gs on monday with ground shipping for like 6.50 and they received it on Tuesday! They updated the RMA status so now I'm just waiting for them to send me an email about getting my new 9800 gt. Hopefully I'll have it next week sometime.
BFG Rocks!

A see a few 6800GT cards going for upwards of $50 on ebay, no doubt a few people are trading them up with BFG. I myself am trying to get one so I have one to keep when trading up the other. :D

p.s. I wish I had a 7800GS. Didn't get one because of the cost and the performance increase.

Is 9800gt worth the $50 surcharge? I've got 6800ultra that sitting there doing pretty much nothing... Maybe, I'll trade it up and use the new videcard for physiX :D

If you're short on cash, just get the 9600GT. It's still twice as fast as even a 7900GTX or 2. $50 for the 9800GT is a steal though imo, 9600 goes for $90+, 9800GT for $110+.

I'll be AFK for an hour or so.

Any idea what cooler comes on the replacement cards? Single slot or dual? Thanks.

I never get lucky with shipping. Either on time or late but never early, sending or receiving.

Awesome, I think I will always buy BFG from now on. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm betting it is not DOA =)

godfetish

Wow, thats awesome. They received mine on tuesday and I haven't heard anything about the 9800gt I ordered yet, hopefully I will today.

You don't hear anything back, check your BFG account and you can see the details and tracking number.

I'm just waiting for the coupon code email heh. And they havent updated the details on the account and the rma site.

An email will be sent to you with a coupon code that can be used on the BFG Store to order your new card for 50 dollars.

Ah, I see...I only swapped for the 9600GT so no coupon, just ship to them and they shipped me back a card.

Though, I am having problems with this ones serial number too!! Sent email to [email protected] so we'll see.

well my accthasnt been updated, but my tracking showed it was delivered to them thismorning at 1030, so heres to hoping :) i traded up for a 9800gt oc though.

Got my update started! I did check ebay and the prices for these cards seems to have gone up. It's not worth the hassel IMO to ebay this card. I do wish however, that us 7800 owners could trade up to the 9800 GTX+, even if it were a bit more. Anyway, with the recent announcement that nVidia is rebranding it's cards this upgrade makes even more sense! Also it's perfect timing for me because I need a PCIe card for my new build and have been living with integrated video since spring - yuck!

sweet they got my card.

yea it would be nice to trade up to a 9800gtx+ but i already have one of those... lawls

this will however make a great addition to my dads new system i plan on building from scraps

x2 4800, 2gb ram, 9800gt oc....should be decent for what he plays, rome total war series, and when friends come over we bf2 on it :)

I just got my coupon code in my email. It has a direct link to the 9800 gt and all you have to do is put in your coupon code and it gives it to you for $50. I had to pay for shipping which was $8, so I'm getting a brand new 9800 gt oc for around $66(which includes the shipping of my old card there) Thanks BFG!

I didn't see that link in my e-mail when I did my upgrade, did I do something wrong?

I got the email 4 days after they received my card. There was a link to the 9800 gt in the email and a coupon code. Did you upgrade to the 9800 or 9600?

OH i see, I thought you were talking about the e-mail that had the RMA number. I've still got to ship, so things are ok. I picked the 9800, did it late at night though, so was second guessing myself.

You get an email containing something like this:

This e-mail is part of the BFG AGP Upgrade program.
You can now place an order for your $50 9800 GT OC PCIE upgrade through the BFG store.
9800 GT OC Coupon Code: xxxxxxxx
Product Link: http://www.bfgstore.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BFGE98512GTOCE

Just wanted to give a heads up, the coupon code is valid only ONCE for up to a quantity of 3 cards I believe. Like a jackass, I ordered only one instead of getting 2 or 3 which I could sell later or SLi.
It also has a discount code for a 550 watt power supply.

Hi Jeff,

I've got a card I've tried to register but I'm getting a 'not a valid serial number' error message, I've sent about 3 or 4 emails to the help desk, at one point got an email from a tech saying they would add it to my account but it hasn't happened yet, (this was about 2 weeks ago.) Anything you can do to help/any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,

If we were just taking advantage of the free upgrade offer, should we have received an additional email that requires further action? I sent my card in and the status on the RMA site shows that they received by card, so I am just waiting but I want to be sure further action is required on my part.

Fuking red tape having to register again for the BFG store. My box has been down over 2 weeks. Tired of waiting.

While I am at it...fuking shipping!

Subtotal: $50.00
Shipping & Handling: $11.86
Tax: $0.00

Total: $61.86

mines showing received...now what. i never got emails :(

and i opted to get the 9800 gt oc, so how are we going to go about charging the 50 bucks to upgrade it?

check your email for a coupon code, then click the link in the email to go to the card order page
