I have a wireless n as well and it skips like crazy if I try to stream. I agree with above poster to go with wire.
100 if a tight limit if you need to buy the entire box (case, drives, cpu, mobo, vid card, etc etc)
On the issue of sound i have a case with an intake and exhaust fan 120mm...
Ive read so many ways to do it, but i did the rice grain way. I put a small rice grain size of AS5 on the center. But you are saying my heat sink is not good enough?
I am trying to overclock my x6. Currently its at vcore=1.325, 18x multiplier, cpu freq=195 running at 3.5 ghz. Not sure what other information you all might need.
Cooler is ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro.

check the dust in the vid card. check DEEEP in there even if the fan blades look clean. Something similar happened to me, i blew the fan blades clean. Then realized there was a TON of duct deep inside. Solved my issues.
This is 2 pass im assuming? I'm new to all this sorry. I heard that the CQ mode is much quicker though. I am not extremely picky with how big the size is, just in the neighborhood.
I have a ripped version of 300 with anydvdhd. Size is 23.2 gb.
I used CQ22 and got it down to a 7.14 gb mkv file. Roughly a 66+% reduction. Since you do CQ 18 (or anyone for that matter), do you know 'roughly' how much of a reduction from the original it is?
My goal is to have an mkv output...
I looked at this graph...
converting bluray to mkv, which is what I'm mostly interested in, and times are fairly 'close'.
Assuming a 2 hour movie instead of 2.5 mins, and looking at both the overclocked 2500k and 2600k, seems that it would take roughly 163 mins and 133 mins respectively (if...
Yes I plan on oc'ing it. More than likely the 2600k. I'm just on a budget so I didn't want to go crazy and wasn't sure if more ram was better or speed (assuming a comparable price point)
Also, does cl7 vs cl9 make a noticeable difference given the same amount of ram at the same speed?
Last...
I was debating on the 2 situations:
2x2 gb ddr3 cl7 of 1600 ram
vs
2x4 gb ddr3 cl9 of 1333 ram
Which would be best for the SB and why? If it matters, I plan on doing a lot of video encoding.
After reading more reviews on the new SB processor I'm starting to think that I want to go ahead and go with a 2600k and overclock it. I'm just not sure if I want to spend the money and go with 2600k or go cheaper with the 2500k.
i actually have been looking at the 2600k i7, trying to price it with mobo/ram/cooler, its coming out to roughly 600ish. Do you think the rip times will be cut drastically? Would hoping for a 2pass in the neighborhood of 4-5 hours be pushing it :P
Background:
I have a E6400 2.13 ghz duocore. 2 gigs ram. win 7. Geforce 210 vid card.
I have ripped to hd using anydvdhd. Then using ripbot, 2 pass. The first pass is saying that it will take 18 hours. and the FPS at the bottom of the ripbot screen is showing 2.XX FPS. I didn't go through...
Following up just in case someone can use this information in the future. For the record I'm on win 7 64 bit.
I did some research and found a post where someone had success going into the .ini file in ripbot and changing the following value to zero:
Usex264x64=0
I did this and it is working as...
I have had no luck with both ripbot and handbrake. They are both doing the same thing for me. I start the process. I can see the file that it begins to output. Everytime early on in the process it just goes straight to "complete". The file output is usually 50-300mb, which is anywhere from 30...
Tried using ripbot last night with all the newest versions of all the software it requires. It gives me an error when it tries to demux. Im on win 7. Is anyone else having issues with this on win 7?
Thats what I was originally thinking, but then I started to think about my dvd collection, and I have literally 300+ dvds. I would guess that eventually my bluray collection will get that large, and I guess I would much rather have 10-15 gb videos rather than 25. My friend has a few 1080p mkv...
I have a backup copy of a movie on my harddrive as a M2TS file which is roughly 25 gb (movie only). Is there any way to compress this file to make it smaller without losing video/audio quality?
I have a 1080p version of a movie, it is in the harddrive, so I'm not streaming. It gets choppy, stutters, pauses, all sorts of bad stuff. I have a e6400 core2duo, with an ati x800xl. I have also tried it in a similar system with a geforce 210...
I had a 74 gb raptor, not sure if there is a sound difference, but it made way too much noise for my liking while watching a movie. Just a thought. I had the raptor as my OS drive and an external running the movie and it was still grinding away.
I'm looking at this Lite-On

BDROM speed is 4x. Does going with a higher speed affect how long it takes to rip?
Is 4x pretty typical of what most users are using right now?
Thanks
I have a spare Core2Duo E6400 (2.13ghz) and 2 gb ram and would like to build a budget HTPC. I already have a mobo without integrated graphics.
I want to eventually be able to play 1080p videos from my computer to tv with a direct HDMI connection.
Can I simply get any graphics card that has...
ok, thanks for all the info. I havnt really bought any new games for about 2 years now. so i guess if i end up getting something new ill shell out some extra money. the only reason i ask about these cards is that I already had the x800 and i got the geforce for free basically. Just trying to...
not much actually. i am still play counter strike 1.6 which it runs perfectly fine. I guess i wouldnt mind being able to somewhat run newer games such as starcraft 2 or whatnot. but if x800xl is better than the rest, i guess ill stick with that.
I am clueless on Vid cards, can someone help me pick the better one? And is there that much of a difference b/w the three?
1)

No, I took out the CMOS battery for a few minutes and put it back in. I have had everything for roughly 4 years. Its a E6400, gigabyte ds3, gskill ram, and some random PS :P
I turn on my PC and screen is completely black as if its not connected.
This PC has been running for 4 years with NO changes whatsoever. It worked last night. Tried to fire it up today with no luck.
Things ive done so far.
1. My monitor works, tested on a different PC.
2. My vid card works...
A buddy of mine just gave me his old setup with a dead ps which has the following specs:
-E6400
-2 gigs ram
-3 harddrives
-ati radeon x850 xt video card
-lots of fans (antec 900 case)
-2 dvd rom drives
The dead ps is a 350 w version and I was thinking about getting the same but was...
I try to play a bluray video, it initially starts, but if i try to fast foward it a couple of mins my media player crashes. is this a software or hardware issue?
