New video card needed if Bluray videos doesnt work?

I try to play a bluray video, it initially starts, but if i try to fast foward it a couple of mins my media player crashes. is this a software or hardware issue?

its a c2d e6400 2 gb ram
old school ati x800 256 mb ram.

i tried using wmp and vlc but both did the same thing.
