What if the shortage of 5000 cpus is to clear out the remaining 3000 cpu supply?

Depending on how much extra, it's almost worth it to me. I almost did, when you factor in the 4 hour total drive, probably stopping for a meal, etc...+$50-$75 to get one off Amazon ain't such a bad deal.I ended up paying extra to get a 5600x from amazon ..
Doubt it. Wouldn't they have cut prices, at least a little, on the 3000 series? Retailers only have so much shelf space, they wouldn't want to hang onto inventory that's not selling any longer than they have to.What if the shortage of 5000 cpus is to clear out the remaining 3000 cpu supply?
I saw that and thought, "figures they come back into stock when I have been out of work for a month." Same thing happened last year with an Asus RTX3090 Strix. I had money set aside and then family needed some financial help. Soon after, I had the opportunity to get the card and no money.AMD.com had 5800x last week for a couple days at MSRP.
I have had a B550 MSI Mortar for a while now with a Ryzen 3100 I picked up close to MSRP and selling it will cover the extra .. now I have to wait for a 6700 XT or put my RX 5700 with it .. just a RX 570 at the moment , It came Fed Ex with - in 2 days and I didn't pay for that service which was $384 shippedDepending on how much extra, it's almost worth it to me. yeswill the upcoming Zen 3+ chips still support the AM4 socket?
I just bought a 5800x on AMD for MSRP = https://www.amd.com/en/direct-buy/us
cheapest price is Newegg at $532 .. MSRP price looks a lot better ..looks like the 5800x is the only thing in stock here.
sam
Has anyone ordered from them? Website is kinda sketch and online reviews are very mixed.GovGroup.com has 5900X for $575.18 here.
You guys are lucky! In Europe, we have no such option to buy directly from AMD. We just get shown list of local dealers!!!!I'm not saying it will happen tomorrow, but AMD.com has been releasing stock for 5900x and 5950x around 10:30 am to 11 am central time on Thursdays the last couple of weeks. So be on the lookout during those times tomorrow.
First I've seen them on Amazon at MSRP ready to ship.I have been able to find the 5600X and 5800X at MSRP without issue for the past few weeks. I have been tempted to purchase the 5800X because it has the right amount of cores and low latency. I just do not want to spend $310 to $410 on a new motherboard.
Thanks for the heads up. Mostly drops on thursdays? Or should I be watching pretty much every day at 10-11AM?If you watch AMD Direct Buy on Thursdays at 10-11AM central, you can snag a 5900x or even 5950x at MSRP + tax. They have been dropping pretty much every week and it's been pretty easy to get one.
Seems to be Tues and Thurs mornings are best bets for direct buy.Mostly drops on thursdays? Or should I be watching pretty much every day at 10-11AM?

Anyone hear if AMD will be releasing 'XT' versions of the 5xxx series? I want to upgrade from the 3700x while I can still sell it but would prefer to just upgrade my system to the last of the AM4 CPUs before the new platform comes in.
Make sure when you load the direct buy site, you refresh the actual product page. If you just look at the page that has all the listings, they sometimes don't update and say in-stock. If you go to the actual 5900x page and refresh there, it will let you cart it if they are available.5900X -- Hopefully I can get one tonight :] (well, morning for you US folks)
So far, the product site is sending me to the page that has all the listings.Make sure when you load the direct buy site, you refresh the actual product page. If you don't get one today, i'd maybe wait and try next week too. There's the added struggle of the 6700xt launch today, so that may have some effect on normal stock. So far, the product site is sending me to the page that has all the listings.
Been refreshing since the last 3 hours XD. Hope I get lucky today haha. If not, I may be tempted to grab a scalper unit
Thanks for the info though on camping out today online, worth a shot.
Currently showing add to cart instead of OOS but won't seem to add. Hmmm maybe the bots got to them first hahaIf you don't get one today, i'd maybe wait and try next week too. There's the added struggle of the 6700xt launch today, so that may have some effect on normal stock.
