[YourNewCase] SUGO ... 5! GO!

question for sg05/sg06 users.

Will the PSU that comes with the case run the following without issues?

dfi p55 itx board
i5 750
xfx gtx260 black edition
ocz gold PC3-12800 ddr3 4gb memory
intel X25 mainstream 80gb ssd
samsung slot load sata dvd writer
zalman low profile cpu cooler

(and possibly if 80gb proves not enough, a first gen raptor 74gb)

or wouldit be advisable to look into the silverstone 450w psu ?

its gonna work fine with the psu, but u need to cut the case. there are some pics in this tread somewhere tat shows the mod

I just was surfing arround the net when I found this, three different models of the sg05 and sg06 that are about to be anounced by silverstone (I supose).

The first one is a SUGO SG05 with a 450w psu (st450sf) and black interior, model name SST-SG05BB450 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

the other two are related with the SUGO SG06 which both have the 450w psu, models SST-SG06B450 & SST-SG06S450 (1, 2, 3)

AFAIK, the 450w version of the sg05/06 will only be available in Japan. (Read it somewhere in this forum..i think..)

It looks like these boxes have been produced by silverstone and dirac (japanese company), so probably, as u are thinking, they'll just be available in japan... Just pray for them to come US or EU

Instead of improved SG05 and 06 i will wait for SG07. It seem better choice to me

SG07 would be a better choice any way, I would just buy one of these if i don't need a VGA bigger than the 5770 or 5850, just because of size matters. If you need a bigger VGA or PSU then wait for the sg07, at silverstone's last conference at japan the sg07 was said to hit the markets at end of may/beginings of june.

2 things about the SG07 is that it'll be double the price of the current SG05 and it's larger. You won't have that compactness of the SG05.

It might not be damaged, but Q6700 + 5850 is pushing it probably. It probably struggled with this kind of load, which in turn help fry the board (PSU failing to regulate current under high load or something).
I must say I am a little surprised but at the same time you are playing with fire by using a notoriously power-hungry processor and a mid-high end GPU with this PSU.

I bought new board. Older was GF9300-D-E, this new one is GF9300-I-E. And instead of Q6700, I took Q9550 from my other machine. GF9300-I-E supports undervolting, Q9550 is running -0.1v. Should draw less power and run cooler. System booted & running fine at idle when using SG06 stock PSU and 4Gb DDR2 + 1 Samsung 1TB HDD + Radeon 5850.
Don´t know about at full load, maybe I will not try before I get 450W PSU. But it seems that stock 300W PSU is not damaged.

The greatest news is that Gigabyte is finaly out with a m-ITX mobo. Gibabyte makes the best bioses for undervolting. as for the boards ive had so far minimum voltage has been 0,5V.

and its all aboout the 12V, instead of produsing heat in the cpu it can go into the graphics card instead :D

This look doable? Plan to use 80GB intel g1 ssd, have a 2TB for storage.

would do minimal cpu OC, would like to get to 4.2-4.5 - probably do a h50 mod later...

Definitely doable.
Dunno about your overclock though, I have a similar build with a quad and made a post regarding it's power consumption here

Sorry if this has been answered already, but will a Thermalright AXP-140 fit in this case?

Yes, at least the newer revision, AXP-140 RT:

http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/cpu/axp140/product_cpu_axp140.html

The older AXP-140 may need separate socket 1156 retention module if it´s not included in retail package:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermalright-Socket-Retention-AXP-140-Bolt-Thru-Kit/dp/B0037LR6EW

Will the AXP-140 RT fit with that supplied fan?

And would this fit the case?

I'm happy to report that as much as a GTX 260 and i7 860 will work on the stock PSU. I haven't tried stress tests, but I have played some both CPU and GPU heavy games such as starcraft 2 beta, left 4 dead 2, heroes of newerth, and gta4 and I have never seen the power consumption go above 230 on the kill-a-watt. (I.E. the power at the plug is no more than 230 Watts, which is more power than what the PSU delivers to the computer) I will have some pictures of my build up soon to show how I fit the GTX 260 inside.

My usage benchmarks:

Devil May Cry 4 with VSync off (makes fps go to 120+): 143w
Dirt2: 198w
Assassin's Creed 2 (no benchmark, real 1/2 hour session): 202w
GTA IV EFLC: 237w
GTA IV: 224w

But I'm using a more frugal CPU and a lesser GPU too. What voltage are you using with your i7 860?

I'm seeing conflicting reports in this thread, so can anyone definitely confirm whether or not the Sapphire Vapor-X/Toxic 5850 will fit without bending the SG05's front faceplate?

It will fit, but you'll have to mod the case and trim down the power connectors.. and then it still touches the front a bit. But it won't bend.

I know that the MSI 5870 Lightning fits like a condom in the SG05/6.

Hey guys, Should I mount the motherboard on standoffs/spacers? A friend of mine says its not explicitly needed.

Of course you should, I don't remember correctly maybe the SG05 has integrated standoffs. If it doesn't you should always install standoffs. They insulate the motherboard from the chassis. If the motherboard ever touches the chasis there could be a short and damage it permanently

You should totally just toss the mobo into the case and just screw it down, stand offs aren't needed.... lol

So where is the Silverstone ST45SF 450w PSU?

No place has it. Wasnt this suppose to be out back in January?

Stores had them in stock for like a week back in April and haven't had them since, which sucks because I need one to finish my new build :(

Here are some new pics of my 5850 after months of usage. Again there is no mod, I basically bent all the wires as much as I could 90 degrees and gently pushed the card down into the slot. The wires rubbed all the way down. I thought they were going to snap but the are fine. I hope I never have to take them out. The stock 300 watt PSU wires are pretty stiff, not like the fancy PSUs designed for wire management.

The same card didn't fit in my sg05 as you can see in the following pics. Even after I trimmed down the connectors.

So I'm just about to start my second build with the SG05. My original was with the Zotac 9300-ITX, a Q8200, and a GTS 250. Here's the new one:

Zotac H55-ITX WiFi
Intel i5 750
Corsair H50
G. Skill Ripjaws 4gb DDR3
HIS Radeon 5850
OCZ Vertex 30gb
Seagate 500gb
Ultra X4 400w modular matx PSU
Silverstone SG05
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I'm gonna be cutting up the front end a good deal to get a nice push/pull setup with the H50 and still maintain the hard drive rack. Either that or I will make my own custom bracket and put the HDD and SSD elsewhere in the case. Pics will be up soon :)
