Your voltage for FX-55

I'll give it a shot. I'll have to loosen the memory timings though b/c I've already pushed it as far as it will go at 2-3-2-6 1T

For sure, give 'er a go......you never know, even if you half to loosen the timing a tad.....compare the results....and if you're benching higher at your current clock with tighter timings and at 3GHz with loose ram then by all means stay where you are.....but it's worth trying out.

I think I'm going to give up on 3 Ghz for now. I can't even run 2.95 stable for very long and 2.93 would start having problems after a long day when the room starts to get warm. Maybe I'll get phase changers or peltiers in a few month. Right now, I went down to 2.85Ghz (13x219) @ 1.6V running very stable. I think I can run it at 1.55V too but I haven't had time to thoroughly test it yet. I get much lower temps this way and don't get more crashes.

Good call on backing it off for now.....

If you're looking at temp issues holding you back you could simply Pelt the CPU for a lot less then a PS setup would cost, and that way you should be able to gain back those 150MHz....and 3gig should be quite doable for you and your FX. ;)

2.85g on air is speedy for gaming. Push it slowly...

Sorry, I forgot I might be talking to some people that still might have never heard of the thing.......strange as that is. ;) :p

Had mine running up to the limit of this board with no overclocking gain... grr...
I sent it back, going to order another soon, but the limit of the motherboard for this round will be the limit of the cpu

The neo2 was a good board, but it's vcore cieling was way too low for my liking, hopefully abit or dfi comes into the arena for some action like their supposed to and develop AGP 939 boards that are decent, and nForce 3 Ultra :D
Then we would surely see some healthy overclocks :)

Can't remember what I saw out of Abit......pretty sure it was teh same as DFI though.....NF4 s939........

No NF3 s939 on the way from DFI, don't hold your breath. ;)

My opinion anyway is that I dont think The problem is the Boards. Looking at it, it looks as though you are using the FX53. As it is a really great processor they dont like to overclock very well. The best I ever got out of my FX53 was 2.7 and leaning more towards 2.6 24/7 happiness. Ive used the Asus A8V the Abit AV8 and the MSI Neo2 platinum and the neo is the hands down winner between all three. In fact I switched to the FX55 and on H2o and should easily hit 3 to 3.1 ghz on water on the MSI Neo2. Also found that the Neo2 loves GSkill pc4400le mem. Not sure what mem you have tried. But thats my expereince. But what I cant wait for is Hopefully in about 2 to 3 more weeks at most I will have my Phase change cooler as that its being built and the 3.5 should be pretty easy.

Good luck with your endeavors....but I highly doubt you're gonna hit 3.0 - 3.1 on water....unless you're gonna chill it.

Ive seen several people hit 3 to 3.1with an FX55 on H2o and run 24/7 Infact James Earl Ray was doing it before he went Phase change now he runs 3.4. But I guess we will see.

Some people DO do it.....and you still might, but it does require an above average chip......and the odds can always be against you. ;)

Hope you do though. :)

Time to see how it does @ PI and some other benchies

Capt, try without clockgen. Oc it from bios (you can add vcore with msi core center) and 1.41mod bios imo. is the best for tccd. Good luck and nice fx55 oc you have ;)

Thanks!!!
Actually I did oc it from the Bios. Only ran the Clockgen as a display for comparison from what I did in bios. I have the latest Bios version 1.4 published from MSI. Probably Not the 1.41 mod bios. Running mem timmings of 2.5-3-3-7 @ 2.65v Gskill pc4400le.Where can I get the 1.41 mod bios? Any other tips or tricks you have on squeezing more out of it.

Ok so I found the Bios Zip for the 7025v141mod.zip and I allready have Live Update installed from the drivers disc as well as updated it online. But I didnt know that you could flash a Moded or Beta bios with that utillity. I do have the Official V141 but not the Mod v141. Any real big differences. I assume the mod ones are ment for overclocking benifits. So if I wanna use the in windows tool to flash the Mod bios can it be done and how do I get MSI Live update to do it. I could always do a floppy but would like to learn how to do it the otherway for non official bios if thats possible. Thanks

But Im happy right now. better then what i was before with the FX53 ;) could only hit 2.7ghz

Your Phase Change unit is allmost done :) all i have to do now is braze up the evap (waiting on more silver brazing rods :-/) and then ill put 300 PSI of dry nitrogen it it,leak test it then discharge it,oil it up and give it a r-22 gas charge with 5% r-290.

Nice stuff, I might have to give you a shout if/when I get back into benching. ;)

No, didn't die.....but I don't game anymore, and I was becoming quite bored with competitive benchmarking...mainly because I'm so limited in the cash department...and there was little I could do at this point. The XT-PE is sold, and the 3.4E and mobo are going to be quite soon. I'm throwing togethor a s462 rig with a 2500+ mobile and a DFI Lanparty nf2Ultra for my parents rig, and just picked up a 1700+ with an nf7-s for myself.....with some of the cash I had from selling the card.

Another reason behind all of this is since I started working this job (local petstore) my interest in reptiles, spiders, and others has started to really grow, and I sold the XT-PE mainly to redo a couple of my reptile tanks.

In the summer I'm going to be building a shuttle setup for myself and will hopefully have an LCD by then, but I can't see myself getting back into benchmarking until I've got a considerably better job.....as things have just been to tight as I've been trying to "keep up" with my rig at this point in my life.

I'm still going to be just as active on the forums, as I'll have to make sure I maintain my current level of knowledge on everything that's out there...and continue to as time goes on...so no worries there. ;)

DUDE!! your like my boy..i cant beleave that your selling your stuff :( Ill OC for the both of us..hows that sound???
