199? Some unknown ISA card
199? Media Vision Thunder and Lighting (VGA + sound), ISA
199? Some PCI card
199? Back to Media Vision Thunder and Lighting :( (sad, sad day; always be careful with static electricity)
199? Voodoo Rush PCI
1998 Voodoo 3 2000 PCI
2000 Geforce 2 MX PCI
2004 Radeon 9600 AGP
2005 Radeon X800 AGP
2007 Radeon X1950 XT PCI-E
2009 Radeon 5870 PCI-E

Comments:
The 5870 is still awesome today.
I was really hurting for performance by the time I replaced the Geforce 2 MX.
I had intended to use the X800 longer, even going as far as ordering a PCI-E/AGP motherboard (to upgrade my CPU) but sadly, it didn't work, so I bought the X1950 XT.

Well I don't really remember all of the years, but I have a pretty good idea of the order.

A few older ISA cards (can't remember the brands)
Trident (unsure of model) Probably PCI
TNT2 PCI
FX5200 PCI
9600 Pro AGP
7600GS AGP
5750 PCIE
6870 PCIE

I don't remember the earlier ones, but there has been quite some progression!

2003-2004 - Various cards, Trident and 3DFX I believe. >8MB
2005 - Radeon 7000 64MB
2009 - Radeon HD 3850 AGP 512MB
Very end of 2010 - Radeon HD 5770 PCI-e 1024MB

Still rockin my 5770 since it does everything that I need it to do.

Hmm. Part of me wants to feel like I go forever between upgrades, but for the past 9 or so years I've been upgrading either every year or every other year. Wacky.

But man, I really ran that Radeon 7000 hard. I was a high school kid with no money and I pushed that thing as far as I could to make it relevant. I OC'd the crap out of it until it could go no longer and I finally had the money for a proper upgrade.

2003: ATI Radeon 9600 pro - Soldier of Fortune, UT 2003
2004: ATI Radeon 9800 pro - UT 2004, Doom 3, Half-Life 2, Far Cry and World of Warcraft

2014: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 - Far Cry 4, Battlefield 4

My most favourite and winner:
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro. 2004 was one hell of a year. Without a doubt my most beloved graphics card. Not only some of the best games I've played, but starting a long adventure with Blizzard's game that stayed with me for 10 years to this very day.

ATI Radeon HD 4350
Nvidia GeForce 9600M GT
ATI Radeon HD 5770
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SLI

I didn't really notice what GPU I had prior to college, but as long as it played Starcraft, Diablo 2, Maplestory and Unreal Tournament, I was happy. :D

Got to say some of these lists are damn impressive/long/lust worthy.

That said, I'll put my paltry list right here....

Dell Nvidia Something from the days of DRAM 64MB
ATI Saphire Card, something something 128MB
X800XL - loved this card
9800 GT
Radeon 5850
GTX 760

Hope to see a 1070 added to the list soon.

Some rage 2 card?
Radeon 64MB DDR

X800 XT
HD 2900 XT
5850
6970 x2
290X
Nvidia 1080 (on the way)

SiS-something (AGP card, barely ran games in opengl, included with my Packard Bell PC)
Voodoo3 3000 (my first GPU purchase, and still my most exciting, I would've been 16)
Riva Tnt2 (included with my PC purchase)
Radeon 64MB DDR (Believe my basis for this purchase was because ATI was Canadian at the time)
Geforce4 ti4200 (another 'highlight' card, I remember being impressed by its performance in Tribes 2)
Radeon 9500
Radeon 9700 (purchased on ebay as a xmas gift to myself quite a bit after its official launch; first son was born and just finishing college, so funds were a-lacking during this era).
Radeon 3870 (rewarded myself after finally landing a career, and having some disposable income; quite the gulf between this purchase and the last).
Radeon 6870
Radeon R9 380

Never realized how 'Team Red' my buying history looks. Next year will probably be a substantial upgrade as I plan on finally leaving 1080p.
