Hello all, this is my first post here, so be kind if this is in the wrong place and/or wrong format...lol. Admittedly, I'm a noob to PC gaming. I decided to upgrade my stock HP Phoenix H9-1350 with an XFX HD 7870 DD video card I purchased off eBay last night. The seller listed it as "brand new, factory sealed." In our email correspondence, he stated that he purchased multiple cards "about a week ago" for a build but didnt use all of them. My question is when I register the product on XFX's site, will I get the lifetime warranty?(this was one of the reasons I went with XFX as well as great reviews) Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't think ebay purchases qualify for warranty with any manufacturer. I could be wrong....

If the card was never registered before it should be fine. They register by serial #.

Another question about XFX warranty. Before XFX did away with lifetime warranty they allowed for you to replace a VGA's cooling, is that the case with their new warranty as well?

It depends on the card.

All HD6xxx series have the double lifetime warranty and are transferable as long as you have the original invoice/receipt from the person who bought it. This is from an XFX rep as of last week.

The HD7xxx series all have lifetime warranties as long as you register it within 30 days as stated above. And as long sd it hasn't been registered before. BTW, the more important criteria is that it hasnt been registered. If it is, I'd be contacting that seller immediately.

I bought a used 7950 and it wasn't registered so I registered it, it went bad, I got it RMA'd and had no issues.

its not registered

it is mostly the Double D series that they still offer the lifetime warranty on. They also register by SN, so if it was not previously registered you should be good to go.

Some of our distribution partners have customers who sell new cards on Ebay. These will qualify for the same warranties all other stores qualify for.

Of course, there will always be those who claim to have our warranty and do not, but in my experience, it is much more the exception than the rule. Simply put, if you have an invoice, register it within 30 days of the purchase, and nothing seems questionable, we will typically pass it through without question. Honesty goes a long ways. If you aren't sure about a warranty, simply email us, create a ticket, call us (800 880 3225) or PM us here at Hard Forum.

Remember, the lifetime warranty is only available for customers/addresses in North America.

Hello, I just received my video card a few minutes ago. I tried to PM you, but its not showing as being sent in my sent messages folder, so I wanted to respond on here. The card was successfully registered, according to a pop up box on your website. I was inquiring if I needed to do anything else? I noticed on the warranty card that it has a personal activation code, however, when I registered the card, it didnt ask me for it, just the serial number and date of purchase. Thanks in advance for your help!!

That is correct. Warranty is confirmed.

The PAC is for game bundles/promotions. Every high end card we sell has them, but they are not always attached to a promotion.

Does XFX allow for custom coolers to be installed on 290's? A cooler I wanted to use to replace the reference blower uses thermal glue on the memory rather than tape, that's a bit of a permanent modification.

It's not permanent, I removed it. But to be safe mix it 50:50 with another thermal paste such as ceramique and it will be a lot easier to remove.
