I am a big fan of Corsair PSUs, untill I came across this artical. I still love Corsair PSUs, but I consider it pricy. But after reading this aritcal I found a new hope that XFX PSUs are less expensive compared to Corsair and after going through their specs. It looks as good as Corsair PSU. So are XFX PSU's really good enough to match with Corsair? As I am planning to buy an 850W PSU for my next build.

Both brands have chosen very good manufacturers to help them to put their PSUs on the market. All units from XFX are from Seasonic whereas CWT, Seasonic and Flextronic are the Corsair's OEMs nowadays.
About the quality of the 850W PSUs, It depends on the model. In my opinion, The XFX Black Edition 850W is better than the Corsair TX850 (by CWT). However, the Corsair HX850 (by CWT) would be fighting face to face with the XFX's unit. Finally, the Corsair AX850 (depending on what I have seen) promises very good things and probably will perform better than the model from XFX. Unfortunatelly there are no reviews yet to confirm this. I hope they will be comming soon (It seems that Aristides Mpitziopoulos from TheLab.gr has already got one and the review will be ready in a few days http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6930).
Anyway, you can't go wrong with any of them.
All these PSUs are high quality units. There are some aspects that makes them a bit different (modularity, efficiency, quietness, quality of the internal components, based plataform, etc), so you should buy one or another depending on your budget and the features you are looking for. I recommend you to take a look at the qualified reviews that you will find here before you make the final decision: http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page541.htm

I chose the XFX Black Edition 750 because I was getting better performance for cheaper over the overpriced Corsair units.

I ended up grabbing an XFX 750 as well when I planned to go with a pair of 460s (decided to go with a pair of 480s instead). The only thing I didn't like is that their cabling seemed... not quite as good as the Corsair cabling. It was very stiff and I could not route the 8pin to the mobo through the back on my Sniper without an extension. Also the thing is ugly as sin but that doesn't really matter unless you've got a window.

That said I will probably keep it for another rig rather than sell it.

XFX for price and it's a Seasonic can't lose...ok I'll give you XFX PSU's maybe are one of the ugliest mainstream PSU's ever made.

I just bought an XFX 850W and love it so far. Running 470GTX's on it (new build, but clean power so far).

-If you have a case with bottom mounted PSU, then the bright green fan everyone talks about never even sees the light of day. The rest of the psu case is designed well.

-Comes with tons of cabling...more than most will ever use. I think the cabling is high quality; much better than my Corsair HX.

Only time will tell if these are reliable units, but i trust Hard and Johnny's reviews so I am happy I bought it. it also came with a newegg combo deal of $40 off my Corsair Dominator ram, which I never would have bought at full price.

stiff cabling typically means higher guage cables, which means the cables are capable of transporting more electricity without burning out or heating up.

I personally like the way the XFX PSUs look. I'm considering the possibility of a PSU upgrade and very seriously considering them right now, especially since they have a 15% off coupon on Newegg right now.

Corsair or XFX
Mercedes or BMW
Angelina Jolee or Jennifer Anniston

Can't really go wrong with either.

Not really sure about XFX's customer service, but I can tell you that Corsair's service is top notch. If you have questions, Redbeard will answer them right here. If you have a problem, they will replace the unit with a new unit with no questions asked. I unfortunately had to go through the process but am happier with the company than ever.

Lots of companies make great products, far fewer have great customer service after the sale. That is enough to convince me that Corsair is the brand to buy.

XFX's service will get the job done, but they're much slower then corsair in my RMA experience. Granted that's only one recent dealing with Corsair and two with XFX, but I had RMA approval in an hour for a bad stick of ram, and it took about a week of back and forth tickets before I would get the same with XFX (video cards of course).

Apples to Oranges with products, but even the 1-800 corsair support number had zero hold waits when I called to clarify something.

Not that it matters for power, but whoever made the XFX packaging (which looks awesome) cannot spell very well. I just hope it is two different groups checking packaging and production!

This is right on the outside of the box:
management = mangement
detachable = detacable
connectors = connetors

I can attest to this. Was considering buying a Corsair PSU, posted a question here and he had it answered in no time. Can't beat that.

Ha! That's full of awesome!

You're supposed to have staff in place to catch that in the proofs. :p

We already have the two first reviews of the CORSAIR AX850 from TheLab.gr and PCpop. You can find both reviews in the RealHardTechX PSU Review Database: http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page447.htm
As we could expect being Corsair and Seasonic working on it, the AX850 is an excellent PSU, despite having a bit high varation in the +3,3V output (3,0-3,5%). Anyway, within especification (<5%), of course.
