Darn, I missed it again. Ah well, on the plus side, maybe that one is defective. After all its max resolution is 2500x1600 and I'm planning to play with eyefinity which has a much higher resolution I'm thinking 3600x1920
Ohh and you get free 'Grah-pics' with it too
Gone. The ATI 5XXX series sell like hotcakes!
Im sorry but $629.00 plus for a video card............makes no sense.

justifying a ridiculous price for a video card by comparing it to another ridiculously priced video card doesn't make sesne either, lol.
How is ~$600 a ridiculous price? It outperforms the GTX 295 by 20% or more, has DX11, and Eyefinity. The 295 retails for ~$500 and it's old tech.
Fermi will probably cost $100-150 more than the 5970. Will you say it has a ridiculous price then? Methinks you're just trolling here.
No not everybody can afford a 5970. But considering it's $200 cheaper than 2x5870. The price seems to be just about right.
Damn I missed it Been checking the whole last week for the XFX version, I even checked at 5am this morning, and all day today.
Then played some WoW, and just checked again, they finally had it listed on the newegg page, but of course it is gone. What they get like 10 only
Overclocked it equals the performance of two 5870s.. which would cost $800, more at the current rate. I don't think it's a bad price at all, not for this level of performance.
So no doubt the PC manufacturers are getting their fair share as well.
And 3 years from now, worthless.
Well not many people are into games to the point where a 5970 @ $650 can be remotely considered. Most people are pretty practical in that regard, and why consoles sell like hot cakes. But come on man, real talk, $650 is pretty ridiculous for a video card. I mean 99% of the people out there would probably consider a $650 video card insane for it's intended purpose...to play games. Heck $330 for my gtx 295 is going to be ridiculous to most people.
Nice to see that you are happy with your purchase though regardless of what you paid. It's a great card that I would love to have. It's just way beyond my price range right now. Gaming would have to be my #1 priority at that price point, and it just isn't.
It's only $5 more than the other brands. If I didn't already have a 5970 I'd certainly have jumped on it. The one drawback to being a 5970 owner... my room feels like a furnace now after playing Aion for a few hours. The benefits - I had Aion maxed out at 8xAA and top image quality settings and I was able to see EVERYBODY in the fortress raid while battling with the fort general. That was pretty awesome performance!

I just received my XFX HD5970 card this morning. Looks sweet, still have to remove my 5870 to install it. One thing to note, the overvolting tool is not available for the plan jane version, just the black edition (which is BS!!) and no game bundle. Not even Dirt 2!
Busted. You seem to have a serious issue with justifying your own purchases if you have to post it in literally every thread on the 5970. Amazing.
Yep, worst bundle yet. Does the generic overvolt tool work for you or are we going to have to flash to different bios and use a specific oem one?

Or maybe Afterburner 1.4.
