X-COM Enemy Unknown

yes, the bus had a ladder on the back and my squaddy could get up there.
The issue was i would click my soldier and scroll up to get to the top of the bus
but the roof of the bus would keep disapearing and my cursor would automatically
show on the 1st fl. If I click it my soldier get up on the ladder and then jumps down
from the roof of the bus and goes inside the bus which is where my cursor automatically
goes to. Very freaking annoying

Are you using F to 'ascend floor' prior to selecting your end location? (hold over from original game, your soldier may jump and climb over things but if you didn't shift your view level their end height would be the same as the start height)

Is there a way to "sneak" in the game?

I remember earlier on when it detailed about kicking in doors vs opening thema nd how it makes more noise, you'd think there'd be some kind of walk vs run that didn't draw attention to your soldier but I seem to be missing it.

Juts seems a bit strange to be out of sight, run behind a shipping container and have hte aliens known you are there.

As far as I know, you can't sneak. The whole idea of open vs kick is just if the enemy isn't right in front of the door. I actually managed this like twice out of the numerous fights I've gone through. Sneaking up on the enemy is almost impossible, as far as I can tell.

Ran into a bug where you get stuck on a screen with the world globe. It happens when you two aircrafts in the air at once, just an fyi. Was my first playthrough and also discovered the hard way that autosave isn't turn on by default.

Having a blast with the game so far. Made a couple of mistakes because of the UI, but I'm one of those reload to perfection players.

What exactly does difficulty change? I had a snipe with 98% hit chance on a target once, and he missed(second hardest difficulty)!!! Wtfmate?!?

Satellites + interceptors seems to be better than heavy reasearch so far. I'm always broke. Hopefully my next satellite array will fix that.

Doing sats first is probably a good idea. You can get money faster if you have sats up early. I unfortunately, did not really do that.

I need more Interceptors though... I was hoping to belay that until I get a firestorm but Ijust had my first lost in a ship battle.

I'm seeing an amusing bug. In my soldiers death animation when the soldiers head finally hits the ground their hair disappears.

Also a floater clipped into a street light post. Mission concluded with him counted 'dead'

I ran into a bug last night. My heavy was set to "overwatch". He has the ability to shoot more than one reaction shot but only had enough ammo for one shot. The first reaction shot went well, but when the second alien ran out there was no ammo for the reaction shot. The no ammo sound happened, but since the reaction shot animation did not take place I just sat looking at a picture of my unit under cover standing ready to take the shot at the enemy floater. It would not escape from that animation regardless of what I tried. I just did an end task.

yea hopefully they squash some of these bugs soon.
Three things from the original I wish they've kept
1: inventory customization
2: free aim
3: base defense missions.

Pretty solid game regardless tho, pleasantly surprised.

is that arc thrower supposed to keep working for good or just scripted scenarios? like do we keep getting money/research for other captive aliens, or at least a last resort stungun when you're out ammo... after I bagged a sectoid once, I weakened a cryssalid to 1 or 2 bars in some other mission after that and the thing just would not fire, "no valid targets nearby" when I was at point-blank range.

I figured this as well but money seems to be so tight in the game, and satellites/uplinks are one of the more expensive tech to spend on. finding it really hard to keep up with research and gear while building the base, but I like how money is not easy to come by, at least early game. I just took down my first alien base and expecting shit to start "hitting the fan" now, so definitely my first priority.

arc thrower keep working but I don't think you're require to capture more than what they ask you to. I did try to capture a floater for kicks, yea that backfired and my Cpl. got owned in the face.

Yes capturing them is a good idea. Not sure about multiple captures tho. I just use two snipers on my team. I use one as my disable ability then get my assult guys up close and zap the baddies. Very effective tactic. I usually just stand back and lets them come at me while is sit in overwatch.

I like the free aim with the rocket launcher and grenades, but I agree other things need the free aim also.

I don't think multiple captures is a problem. I had a floater and a sectoid stunned on the same mission, sadly the car next to the floater kinda exploded. Hopefully you can sell extras.

If they stay true to the orig. a 'stun bomb' (grenade launcher device) will come available.

Money is a sad state of affairs. At at least in the origional you could make laser guns for profit.

Are there less abduction events per month in the levels lower than 'classic'? Having to choose which 2 of 3 countries will not be paniced 'cuz I can't help them really hurts.

You can make money by using the gray market (mission control tab).

There you can sell alien bodies, etc.

so maybe that arc thrower "malfunction" was a bug? or some aliens you just can't use them on, ie. crysallids. I guess I'll just keep trying more captures.

well you can profit from arms/material deals at potentially way more than they're worth, but I think this is just a matter of luck. I had some random events where china ordered like half a dozen or so laser rifles at once, in exchange for a team of engineers, and before that they also bought some sectoid cadavers at double the grey market rate. so just stockpile everything instead of selling it off right away, you never know when some country is willing to pay much more than you could normally get.

The only way I could successfully sneak is when I got the ghost armor, and it's only for a turn. Other than that, I don't think its an inherent feature in the game... yet.

Don't sell alien bodies, you actually use them for stuff.

what you should sell is damaged cores/nav/equipment.

And stunning is useful. You get their weapon to use, instead of fragments.

Is it just me or is there a bug where sometimes all your "action cam" shots are in slo-mo? Like, I get that slo-mo might be intentional sometimes (like during a crit or something) but sometimes every.. single.. action occurs in slow motion. Seems like a bug to me.

Any good deals on this out there?

I would doubt it right now. The game just launched, as in on Tuesday. They aren't going to discount it yet. Plus, with the high ratings it is getting, I imagine sales are brisk. It'll likley be a bit before anyone offers a discount.

ok im enjoying the game but its pissing me off, my sniper can not use a scope and carry anything else, my support guy can only have a med kit and nothing else, my assault can only have 1 frag, and i have vest to increase my guys hp but yet even it goes in to the slot for your 1 pice of gear you can use.

the vest is just an early game thing to help out whoever you need on point, later on when they rank up and get better armor it's not going to do all that much, so you can replace it with other gear.

This. Instead of having to buy to buy plasma weapons I just stun the guys that I want their weapons. Good way to save some money but you have to research plasma weapons before you can use them. It may take an extra turn or two to get position to do this but it is worth it (as long as it is not a bomb or civilian mission.) Also I find my support guy with the Sprinter and Deep Pockets abilities excels at using the arc thrower since he can run up to the alien in one move and then shoot him with arc thrower in the second move .(and with Deep Pockets still has room for a medikit.)

also having the live alien and interrogating them nets you bonuses on other research if you haven't already researched them already.

I restarted because I was getting creamed on classic after not developing my base well. I went to normal then lost Canada, wtf?!? Why would aliens target Canada?!?! :p

Now that I realized you have to build sattelites on top of the arrays, I think I'll do much better. I looks like sattelites significantly reduce panic, so should I hoard them for emergency use or launch them for money?

yea you should, money is tight for my game because I didn't spam satelites. need more money for plasma rifles and titan armor dammit.

BTW guys, do you think that this game should be called XCOM Tactics?
I'm just thinking out loud here, but it kind of reminded me a bit of FF Tactics and Ogre Tactics and a few other games of that nature.

X-Com came out before either of those games, but regardless, I'm sure there were still others before them. Turn based tactical strategy has been around for a while... ever heard of a game called Chess?

Wtf, anyone else had the AI cheat them?

Just in the mission where you first encounter those "machine" aliens that are on top of the space ship.

I had a couple of guys inside the space ship and the fucking aliens shot them straight THROUGH the fucking roof ot the space ship, just shot them all dead everyone.

Such bs....reloaded that crap.

I would call it a bug... but yes the I have had the floaters and the drones disregard the ceiling/floor while they are flying.

Agreed. I'm now very frustrated with this game and am giving up. I anticipated something much truer to the original, lots of freedom but with modern graphics, soldiers saving their last mission inventory, etc. Instead I find it's a console port w/ small maps, small squads, and channeled gameplay. Wanted Civilization 5, got so much less

I'm loving the game so far. About to clear out a large UFO I shot down (at the cost of an Interceptor  )

Protip: Don't **** with Chrysalids

You wanted something with freedom and true to the original and yet you like civ 5, hmm something doesn't seem to add up here.
