System will be:
Msi 750i
E7200 @ 3.5
2x1gb ddr2 1066
500gb sata drive
Dvd rw sata
9800gtx

Will I be able to run this on a thermaltake purepower 500w?

I hate to ask this here but my only internet access is on my phone and I cannot get the psu calculators to work. Thanks for any help!

Yes, 500watts is MORE than enough for that machine.

That is a great relief, I figured as much but hearing from someone else puts me at greater ease!

I can't find any good reviews on it so I can't tell you anything about how reliable a PSU it is. However, it is still capable of providing more than enough power for your computer, as Dan said.

I googled it and could only find good 100% stress tests of the 430w thermaltake purepower np series. The supply I have is thermaltake purepower 500w np. The 430w was shown to only be pushing 350w while staying inside the spec. I am really just trying to put a stable gaming/workstation together for now until I can afford a enthusiast build.

Link to stress test? Also a link for your PSU would be nice.

I wish I could provide a link but I cannot find that model anywhere, the exact model is w0r100ru purepower 500 np. I cannot link to anything as everything is being done on my blackberry, the review was on hardware secrets website, I just googled purepower 500 np. Appreciate the help so far, I just want to be sure this computer is going to be solid and problem free!

Assuming that your Purepower W0100RU 500W is on the same platform as the Purepower 430W used in the hardwaresecrets review, it's of very very low quality. Take a look at this thread over at jonnyguru.com:
http://www.jonnyguru.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3088&highlight=Purepower+500W

The OP there had a fairly similar system in terms of power usage to your planned system. jonnyGURU himself said that Purepower RX was enough for the 7800GT but not the 8800GTS. Since an OC'd E7200 at 3.5Ghz and the 9800GTX takes up more power than that thread's OP's sig, I think it's fair to say that the Purepower 500W is a bad choice for you system as well.

I recommend getting this PSU if you're on a serious budget:
Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU - $50

Would I be better off using a antec basiq? The specs actually look more promising, because I already have the basiq and it sports dual 18a 12v. its crazy thermaltake makes such poor quality units, they quite a grab bag company in terms of psu's it seems

The Basiq is just as worst as the Purepower. They're of very low quality. You're much much better off with the Earthwatts 500W PSU. That's of significantly better quality.

Thermaltake's Purepower RX and Toughpower line of PSUs are pretty good PSUs. Only problem is that you can find much better PSUs for the same or lesser price.

They really are. Some of thier units like the Thermaltake ToughPower 1200watt are damned fine power supplies. Then you've got the afore mentioned Purepower units which aren't so good.

Ugh well this puts a damper on getting a running pc together! I will have to wait until I can afford a decent psu. I will try to snag a 620hx or 520hx from the fs forum or if anyone knows of a good deal psu from the egg!

Again, the Antec EA500 is more than enough for your current PSU and is of good quality. For $50, it's an excellent deal. It's a sale price, hence the low cost.

Alternatively, you can pick up this BFG PSU:
BFG Tech LS-550 550W PSU - $67

Well as they say curiosity killed the cat and it didn't do to well for the purepower 500w. I tried to run the card in a friends unit with a non-oc 939 build and well mr. Purepower = fail epic. So I called thermaltake and they issued a rma no questions asked. Let's hope I get a better quality unit as an exchange!

LOL! Well good thing it was in your friend's PC and not yours :). And hopefully it didn't kill or damage anything in your friend's PC when it died.

Like I said: Purepower RX or Toughpower are Thermaltake's line of quality PSUs. The other brands/lines are subpar to say the least.

Plenty of power

Nothing to worry about.
