Yea and then there's the word noob. I've played the game for four years straight. Nothing like watching people bunny hop with speed cheats and aim bots. Then at the end they call you a noob.

I'm pretty sure CS helped create the word noob.

What always kind of turned me off to CS was the immaturity of those playing the game. The constant spamming of chat and smacktalk got old very quickly and I just ended up uninstalling the game.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!

It's not the game. It's the people who now play it. I played the game when it was in beta. It was great. Then came the 12 - 14 year olds who treated everyone like shit. Then came the cheaters who gave themselves names like IMGIRL1 and used AIM bot like crazy only to piss people off. Finally there were the druggies. Claiming they are so high while playing the game.

The game is great. It's the assholes who play the game that ruined it.

The biggest reason people hate CS is that it has probably worst community of players on Earth. Even Battle.net isn't filled with the kind of asshats that populate the CS world.

actually from my experience bnet is far worse. Most people that play CSS around the time I play are ususally college students, whereas Bnet its filled with angst kids

That is hilarious. I usually play amongst people I know which makes it fun. I don't use the public servers that I know very often because... well, as it's been pointed out already the people using them suck.

guess you haven't played xbox live. Do a google video search for that one about the kid yelling at his mom for chocolate milk.

2) Awping takes skill, If a noob camps a certain location with an awp hoping for cheap kills, I will take out a noob easily. Vets with an awp might be a different story.
Except that a lot of servers don't allow you to buy an AWP. Plus they make the AWP a lot more harder to dodge and snipe. Which was done a lot.
6) T spawn camping awp whores should all be slaughtered, rush with bomb carrier then camp NOOBS!!
You sure do love the word noob.
7) I love being admin, I will give money away randomly to people who rush, and slay #6 people.
I hate admins like you. You're the reason why people hate the game.
8) When I die, It gives me the perfect amount of time to pack another bowl, hit another bowl, take another drink etc. 30-90 sec.
Sounds like you've had time to practice. Maybe you should cut down?

Yet another perfect example why people hate CS or the people who play CS.

10) if all you do is spawn, die, spawn, die, etc. then you are a noob.
Thought you mastered the skill of smoking up when you die? Takes a lot of deaths to master such a skill.

I love CS:S I wish my computer worked :-(

LOL Who the hell are you? LOL

None of your comments are worth replying to, because I can't understand a single frikin sentence that you write. Not to mention that none of your replys have any point to them. And for your information people love me as an admin because I take my admin duties seriously. LOL azz.

"skill of smoking up when I die" LOL azz

This is what I said earlier...

1) QFT (I left HL2M for CS:S because of the dieing scene)
2) Awping takes skill, If a noob camps a certain location with an awp hoping for cheap kills, I will take out a noob easily. Vets with an awp might be a different story.
3) Hitboxes are fine
4) You get headshots from aiming at the feet because your noob ass is spraying at the feet and there is something called recoil.
5) Skill is directly coorelated with luck, the more skill you have, the more "lucky shots" you will make.
6) T spawn camping awp whores should all be slaughtered, rush with bomb carrier then camp NOOBS!!
7) I love being admin, I will give money away randomly to people who rush, and slay #6 people.
8) When I die, It gives me the perfect amount of time to pack another bowl, hit another bowl, take another drink etc. 30-90 sec.
9) knowing that you could instantly die is what adds to the intensity of the game. Nothing like rushing into bombsight b and taking out 3 people and then rushing to defuse the bomb, wondering if you'll die in the process. Nothing like gettting a buncha gj's and LOL's from your fellow pubbers.
10) if all you do is spawn, die, spawn, die, etc. then you are a noob.

I love CS:S I wish my computer worked :-(

IMO, people who hates CS:S so much sucks at it, like when I am in a game, some noob jsut got shot up and says "OMG CS suck so much" and leaves.

but hey some just don't like the gameplay, shoot die respawn shoot die etc. but hey it's fun as hell .

i don't hate it per se, but most of my friends don't have rigs that can run CSS, so we all have to resort to 1.6 when we lan

Because even the old original counterstrike got owned by team fortress classic. I'm just angry that they dont have a TFC2. :(

Nah but CS is a pretty decent game there are a few things that could definitely be improved but it's a decent game it just kinda gets boring to me after awhile.

I have nothing against CS:S because I have never really played it. It just doesn't look interesting. I play mostly FEAR maybe some COD2 and Q4. Waiting for a respawn over a minute is lame I go online to play not waste time by sitting in a queue. Anyways so far FEAR MP is rocking not as feature rich as what I am used to but overall is fun. Q4 is ok the weapons are bleh and COD2 my only gripe are the grenades and no healthbar?

i dont hate css, but i dont play it, mainly because i have too many games on my PC that i play those instead... i play 1.6 ocassionally so i guess... i like css too?? i grew up on doom and rainbow six, i dont know if that influences anything.

so.... i dont hate css but i DO hate Valve. they do anything to make as much money as possible.

How dare a business make money....how dare they!!! For shame Valve, for shame.

i played a lot of CS when it was in beta, but i can't stand the game now, for several reasons.

the main reason is what most of you have already mentioned, the community. the CS community has, by far, the highest proportion of immature players. when CS:S came out, i downloaded it and tried it as part of the silver HL2 package. as soon as i joined, i was greeted by all the same idiots that i thought i'd left behind. "OMGZ!! THE FLASHBANG EFFECT IS SO COOL!!1!1!!" "WOWZ! RAGDOLL!!" some poor guy who had just joined made the mistake of asking what was so special about CS:S compared to the original, and he got 20 people flaming his ass, even though all they could say was "it's got better graphics! ragdoll effects!! flashbang effects!!" when the guy pointed out that other games had ragdoll and flashbang effects, they started calling him names until he left the server. very classy players.

the other reason why i don't play CS:S any more is also the reason why a lot of people still do. it's the same fucking game it was years ago. nothing has changed. in the time since CS first came out, there have been so many games that i would much rather play. battlefield, battlefront, hell, even the rainbow six series. all of those have much better gameplay, and much more mature players.

so if the community was well behaved then the game wouldnt be so bad will it.
i don't know about other people, but i doubt i'd play much CS:S even if it didn't have all the 13 year old idiots ruining the fun. the game is still good, and it was awesome for what it represented when it came out, but there are just so many other games that have come out in the intervening time period that i'd rather play. if i want to play fast paced fragathons without any down time, i'll play Q3, Q4, or UT. if i want to play in massive battles with team coordination and vehicles, i'll play one of the games in the battlefield or battlefront series. if i want small squad action with real team coordination, i'll play SWAT or rainbow six. there isn't anything that CS:S offers me, and there's the catch, that other games don't do better.

when it comes down to it, games are about having fun. i play what's fun for me, other people play what's fun for them. if they still get enjoyment out of CS, who am i to tell them to play something else?

i just personally enjoy the "dodgeball" format. if you're the only CT or T left, you use the walk button the whole time and see how many fuckers you can pop. surprising how many people actually don't use the walk button....and then you turn the vol up on your headphones and nail them.

the community can be rather annoying. but if you get a few servers to reg on, where you know some people, and the admins aren't retarded, that problem is solved really.

i personally have mute permanently on. i wish you could turn the text off too sometimes though. i've had the game around a year, but purely a month of seeing "noob," "owned," and "pwned" is enough to wanna murder someone. the gaming vocab as a whole is rather annoying.

cheating paranoa is there a lot too. if you honestly wear headphones, take note of where your teammates go, actually use the radar...you can figure out where people are and anticipate them rather easily at times. but then you get kicked/banned/ for hacking.

Never got into it myself. More of a Quake head. Don't like Steam and don't want it on my comp. CS and CS:S seem too trendy for me.

It's nice to fire up every once and again not a game I would want to play day in and day out but it's a good time killer. Oh and the hit detection sucks, I can can effectivly fight long range with the pump shotgun or the CT uzi :p

I don't like it because it's boring. Plus there is nothing new about it over the original besides graphics. The graphics aren't all that great either when compared to newer titles. The game is just "meh".

It just doesn't keep my interest.

Ohh wow thats awesome. I havent seen that website for a few months last time i checked they didnt complete any of the maps. I'm definitely going to have to check it out thanks.

Exactly! Many other games are the same way but CS just takes it to a new level that makes it suck in my book. It needs more modes.

I was dissapointed at how many times it takes to kill someone in counter-strike after slashing their throat area 5 or more times.

You can use the alternative attack mode and the knife stabs. Takes 2 stabs to kill anyone.

Thats if you suck....for me its usually

Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill, Respawn for next round, Kill, Kill etc.. ;)

I grew up playing this with friends so the community never bothered me too much. There were always a couple of us in public servers and we played together on the same team. I guess over the years I just grew a thick skin...it seems like some of you just don't have that, nothing negative or anything..but that's just what it seems like.

I can read the words "noob" and "pwn" like regular words...do you get pissed off reading "the" over and over? As for the immaturity...it's just something you ignore. As long as you remember that you're not like them, it's not THAT bad.

Of course..the community is still pretty horrible. The players make CS the armpit of online gaming. =/ I've found a couple good servers though with cool admins and regulars. Most of them are actually clan servers...

easy way to avoid this...kill everyone else. ;)

Yeah...I'm one of those freaks that frequents tech forums and doesn't hate the game. Oh yeah...I'm 17..maybe that's why.

Also...I've noticed that it's some kind of attitude on boards all over...little kids play CS and the "mature" people play UT. Not flaming or anything...but it's just something I've noticed. It's almost like people have to play UT to be "cool" and "accepted". Or maybe the type of people who would frequent tech boards happen to be the type of people who play UT and Quake. Probably the latter...anyway..is it just me?

...and Isaacav2 is making us look bad. -___-

i've found that that's usually the case on any game that i play, especially team based FPS games. it's always nice to play against clans who are more organized and treat games like rainbow six as more than a deathmatch. a nice bonus is when you show them that you're a good player and they kick out other people to make room for you and your friends
:D

yeah...but clans have developed bad reputations in CS because it's essentially a bunch of little kids with power

but..yeah if you find some good ones, they're definitely fun to play with. The players will always switch around if the teams get stacked and cheaters get banned real quick.

Also..I've noticed that in these types of servers with more "mature" players, they don't encourage the 13 year olds. Thus the kids come in yelling and screaming for attention, but since they don't actually get any...they leave pretty quick.

Its not a bad game by any measure, and I had never played CS until I tried CS:S, but theres just something about the game that doesn't sit right with me. I'm a pretty good FPS player, and generally I can own in any FPS game after just a day or 2 of practice... CS became the only game I simply could not do well in no matter how much I practiced. Why, I have no idea, but that along with the spawn, die, wait, thing that other CS newbies dislike really put me off of the game quick.

arentol said:
CS, any version, gets a lot of crap because it can take weeks to become competent at the game (and months to master it, if you even have the basic talent needed to do so), not just a few hours like with Quake and UT.

CS:S gets all that crap, plus more because people who spent months becoming good at CS find that they aren't as good at CS:S because of the minor changes in it, and so they complain about the game and go back to CS instead of taking a week or two to get their skills back up to snuff in the new game.

That's pretty much it though, the game is hard, and takes time to master, so people without patience quit and then unload on the game every time someone else mentions it in forums.

the game is not hard at all

Wally said:

I personally find CS to be very simple. I agree with you, it's not that hard at all.

I don't know why people think it takes some special time or skill to master it. It's just another FPS game. Nothing special about it. The only difference is, you die, and you have to wait forever to respawn.

because valve was like all "lolz we port 1.6 to nice graphix ok?"
community "yay valve ftw!"

*css came out*

community "uh oh what is this pos?! valve ftl!"

valve "lolz we have your money"

granted css isnt as bad as it was when it first came out but its still terrible compared to 1.6 and the versions before that

It's old...it's boring. I played it since the betas and it's still the same boring stuff.

The game has probably the largest percent of whiney 13 year olds and idiots who blare stuff on their mics (which is why I only played in private/clan servers).

I also really dislike the spray and pray headshot crap and the rampant amount of cheating (at least in the HL1 versions--didn't play nearly as much CS:S).

I could go on forever, but lastly, why are grendades so crappy? You can buy body armor and have a nade blow up at your feet and live.

There isn't enough variety in CS:S. Same levels, Same weapons. It doesn't take long for a person to learn the entrance points and start camping the choke points. After you play the same map 100 times you better damn well be an expert at it.Tis is why I enjoy Bf2 so much.Even though they are the same levels there is still 100's of different ways to approach and capture emeny spawns. CS:S is more of an move toward the choke point, throw a flash. Than spray and pray. Not my style. 2cents
