I'm looking to buy a prebuilt Dell XPS refurb. I will be buying off ebay so prices will be as listed - ~30%. Which system gives the best CPU/GPU combination for the best price? Consider the possibility that I might overclock, but nothing extreme.. novice stuff.

I concur with dhc014: definitely the $1250 build. The performance difference between the Q9550 and Q9450 is less than 1%. Even if you buy your own 1TB for that $1250 build, it'll still come in cheaper than the $1500 build with Q9550 and GTX280 but still get the same amount of performance.

So definitely the $1250 build.

I'd concur as well, it mostly matches the other GTX system for much less. You could toss in a bigger hard drive for $50-100 whenever you felt like it.

TY lowteckh im aware of that. But I also have a 10% ebay coupon that I've confirmed through an ebay rep that will stack :D

Only if your paypal account has explicitly received the message for 10% coupon, and limited to 1 use per account.

:D

Now to just pick a monitor. Or should I wait until Black Fridayish ??

If a $130-$160 22" isn't cheap I don't know what is. You're not expecting $100 or less are you? BF doesn't make things become free and if you've been keeping in touch with BF ads, they're very sad. $950 for that comp is helluva expensive...................................

I didn't want a random super sale monitor. And no, i wasn't expecting $100 or less, lol. I ended up buying the non-ultra sharp 24" Dell and used a $100 gift card I had.

$950 for the comp is expensive? Everyone else seemed to say it was the best pricepoint at $1250... where were you then? The CPU and GPU alone go for $700...........................................................................

You were prebuilt comparing systems, what do you mean "where was I then". That GPU is $120, the CPU is $320. On sale is even less. I

Um, do you even know what you're buying?
The $1550 and $1600 systems are the ones with the GTX280.
The $1250 you purchased carries a Q9450 and a 9800GT.

??? indeed.

I see this for the $1250:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz 12MB
4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM Memory
250GB 7200RPM SATA II Hard Drives
16X DVD+/-R/RW Dual Layer Burner
1024MB Nvidia GeForce GTX 280

The OP made a quote and then added the price, it confused me at first since I'm used to a title first ($1250 first) and then the quote

O rofl. Not used to:

Well meh then. Now to sulk in the corner.

Huh? No, my non-edited post was wrong. Put down the 9800GT instead of the actual GTX 260. Shit, brain is mushy now. Time for sleep.

You mean GTX 280.. 2x fail for you, 3x for me. Let's get a room and sulk together ;)

:) sorry -- I did consider putting hte price inside the quote after I posted but I didn't feel like editing. Not a bad purchase then right? :p
