My PS3 crapped out on me a few days ago, i can't take it anymore i need to get it on with some Modern Warfare.

I can't find any 120gb slims anywhere in stores around here (Oklahoma City) or online, the only thing i found was a couple places with the 250gb but that's no good to me i don't ever store anything on the ps3 apart from game data.

Anybody know where i can get one online that is in stock at regular price ? My last resort right now is to buy a 250gb one from Newegg but $362 for another PS3 isn't exactly tickling my pickle right now lol.

Thanks

Not sure how your old PS3 "crapped out" but have you thought about sending it back to sony to get t fixed, its only about 150$ from what i hear.

When I bought mine a couple weeks ago, Gamestop only had 250s in stock. The SonyStyle store in the same mall of course had plenty of both versions.

Maybe places are running out because of a little rush up until God of War 3 comes out?

They wanted 150 bux plus tax, i sold my broken one for 120 bux, i figured it out be worth spending the extra 20-40 bux for a brand new slim one.

Thanks for the suggestions guys gonna check em out

There's a problem with the supply of the 120gb drives they use. Supposedly it's being fixed, but it's going to take a while for the machines to get back to retail.

I'm such a cynic. When I hear something like that, my very first thought is that Sony wants to sell more of the expensive versions. :)

A few weeks ago I had to drive around to 5 or 6 different stores before I found a 120gb. Good old Shopko had 2 units left, all the other stores were sold out of both models.

Sony is limiting supply, and they just submitted 2 new patents for 2 new SKUs last week. Likely fire-saling the existing supply to generate buzz and prepare for the revised SKUs coming out. The newer SKUs are rumored to be due in part to new third party manufacturers.

edit. The PS3 is not on shelves because its selling like crazy. Its a strategic business move to make way for newer SKUs and give the illusion of high demand.

...so the PS3 is selling like crazy but Sony is limiting supply because it gives the illusion its selling like crazy?

That just sounds crazy. crazy crazy.

Well... it's clear they've been shipping too many of the 250gb models (vs demand) for a while, but no, I think this is something else.

I may have interpreted it wrong, but I think what he meant to say is "PS3 are not hard to find because they are selling, but because..." which would have read something like "PS3s are not not on shelves...."

Newegg just stocked up tonight on the 120gb's, FINALLY got one ! Really didn't wanna have to buy a 250gb, phew.

$150+$30+tax = 190 bucks. It's a ripoff. I fixed my YLOD on my 60GB but as soon as I pay off some medical bills I'm jumping ship to a 120GB Slim. Just say no to Sony repairs! At least the slim refurb Sony offers is cheaper at $119+$29 shipping with tax. Decisions :).

OMG I was in target yesterday and there were no Wii's or PS3 and only 1 xbox 360.....lol they all must have been having an orgy in the back room or something...

lol actually sony is supposidly having supply issues

February 16, 2010 - There's a good reason why the PlayStation 3 had a down month this past January following record holiday sales. It appears there are now hardware supply issues for Sony trying to meet consumer demand.

According to NPD, Sony sold 276,900 PlayStation 3 console in the U.S. during January, a considerable, but unsurprising dip from the 1.36 million it sold the previous month. But January still boasted a 36% increase in sales from the same time period last year.

"This is truly remarkable given the tight inventory we've been experiencing as a result of high consumer demand since last Fall," said CEO Jack Tretton on the PlayStation blog.

In a follow-up note sent to IGN, Sr. Director of Corporate Communications Patrick Seybold also warns the next few months will be tough on PS3 supply as the company looks to replenish retail stock.

"We're working very hard with our retail partners to meet consumer interest, but the demand is tremendously high for the PS3 and we expect tight inventory in the coming months," he said.

Local stores around here have been sold out of Wii's & PS3's for a couple months. It may have something to do with Sony letting stock sell down to send out the new units they are making. They've done it before, no reason they wouldn't do it again.

well uhh, you could go to the dark side:

Haha... You're a funny guy aren't you? Sure, let's line Bobby Kotick's pockets some more at the expense of the PC gaming community.

Who's your buddy? MOAR SEQUELZ! MOAR COD!

Or should we keep buying copies of this mutiplayer hackfest in hopes of getting dedicated servers in the future?

Beg like our man Oliver, here? I think not.

There are used PS3s all over the OKC craigslist. They are more than reliable enough to buy one used I would think. I know I wouldn't hesitate, although I already have one :p

I saw brand new PS3 slim's all over eBay for $310 shipped. That's a good price considering no tax and usually shipping is upwards of $25.
