I've had my new computer folding for over a month now and still no 600 point WU's. Are my settings wrong?

The specs are 2.93ghz and 1gig of ram. That should catch'em right?

I aint catchin' any either. My Athlon MP box has one it picked up about a week or so ago, but the new units I've got in the mean time.. best I've got has been a couple 364s. Oh well

Double check that big WU's are enabled?
My A-XP box pulled a 600-pointer a couple days ago, but I have noticed that 600 pointers and 450point QMDs got a lot more rare in the last few weeks.

They are all at my place... Just turned in one in the last 5 mins

Should turn in one tom too :)

Out of all these servers:

http://vspx27.stanford.edu/psummary.html

Only 5 are holding 600 pointers, and sometimes they actually do run out. Not to mention all those work units have to be done, not just the "good" ones ;)

I usually alternate between a 600 pointer and a 50 pointer that takes half a day to get done. had been like that for 3 weeks. :)

my main rig hasn't been picking up QMDs nor 600 pointers =/

just a bunch of dinky 153 and 200-something pointers

still managed to boost myself above 1000 ppd occasionally...soo..i wonder.......

Got me one about 4 days ago, just my luck that it was on my slow ass 2.8C :/

Big WU's is enabled. Too bad there isnt an "Even bigger WU's" option.
What about that other option?Advanced methods or something?

My 5 local machines have received 5 600-pointers in the last 3 days... still trying to finish them all.... :)

Bah... I just had my first 600 pointer in ages last night... I don't think I have any others right now. :(

I gotta catch up with you somehow !! :D........ But I don't think this is enough.

No 600 pointers here, but I have gotten about four 364 pointers in a row. And I'm close to 100,000 points. :)

Good to see you around again man! Been wondering if you were still around.

Three of my 5 machines got 600-pointers this week. After a rather dry couple of weeks, it's good to see the juicy WU's coming back.

Maybe that's why I'm killing you right now.

My P4 at work should have just turned in a 600 pointer this morning. I've got another machine that should turn one in tonight. That's all for me. My main rig turned in a 364 pointer last night and another machine has one that should have been turned in already but I don't think it has. I don't remember what my main rig was crunching on after it turned in the 364 pointer.

My work P4 is currently chewing on a 284 pointer (p756) that is really sucking up the RAM. I'm getting about the same PPD as 600 pointers on it, but right now it's using 200 meg of RAM which is almost twice what 600 pointers usually take. I'm good to go on this machine, though , so I'm not worried. I'm wondering if it's one of the -advmethods units that only go to the 5.04 beta client since I have that flagged on this client. I sorta hope so as I wouldn't like to see one of these on my machine that only had 256 meg of RAM. Sure, the machine isn't doing anything but folding at the moment but it does get some occasional use.

Overall, I'm not doing too bad.

Oh, and Aratech. If you're not running it, you may want to use the beta 5.04 client on that machine. I think you might have a better chance of grabbin' QMDs with it if that is what you are looking for.

I still haven't gotten a QMD on my P4 2.8 Preshott. The machine has 512 meg of RAM although 8 meg is shared by the onboard video. I wish I could drop that down to around 4 meg. It would still allow me to run higher resolutions and have just a bit more RAM. Unfortunately, the only other option I have is 1 meg and I don't think that would work. I think QMDs can be assigned to machines that report back 502 meg of RAM, but I haven't gotten one yet.

I have a few on my machines here.
That's why my PPD has been down.... but I'm dumping pts like crazy today. if I'm lucky it'll be a 4k pt day!

Yeah looks like it is going to be a good weekend here too :)

Noob question:

How do you know the point value? Frames?

my work machine has been pulling QMDs constantly (except for that little fiasco last week). The Xeons at home have always pulled QMDs (work machine has 1gig ram, home machine has 2gig ram)

Two ways to check.

Open the unitinfo.txt file and get the protien number

Name: p1481_tet_2nm
Download time: October 6 23:16:56
Due time: November 27 23:16:56
Progress: 12% [|_________]

So mine right now is a P1481. So you go to http://vspx27.stanford.edu/psummary.html and look for that protein and it'll list the point value.

OR

Install EMIII and it will monitor your machines and tell you how many point they are worth.

Here's a how-to.

If you need help, start a new a new thread and we'll be glad to work you through it.

Fold on people! Or else!!

Yes, I'm still around, but I've been really busy lately. So it's mostly lurking for now. :(

Killing me, you are. :p

Can you believe that my main rig has turned in 7- 50 pointers in the last few days? At that rate, I dont have a chance.

Heh. I had a little help the last half of last week. My ppd will be coming right back down this week, so you still have a chance to catch me. By the way, just broke 20,000 points! Woohoo!

A little help?

ive been getting <100 pointers for the last 2 weeks, what gives :( but got a 600 pointer comming in 98/100 almost done

Hey, you were outproducing me, so someone volunteered a few of their boxes to fold for me for a few days. Now my production is back down to something close to what it was, and you can start closing the gap again! :)

I just got another one on Sunday. Maybe I'm just really lucky.

Update: Make that 10 - 50 pointers in a row. Stanford is killing me. I must have made someone mad. Moose? K *? Mary?

Unhappy_Mage, did Mohonri pay you to sneak into my system and rewrite F@H so it would only accept 50 pointers?

Somehow I think that if u_m was interested in getting only 600-pointers, he would have disassembled the client a long time ago...

Man, it's been a long time since I've disassembled machine code and combed through it. Computer architecture class my Junior year, where you ignore Big O and optimize the snot out of your code. Caches, virtual memory, buffer overflows, loop unrolling, highly optimized assembly code...great class.
