nobody knows for sure and the egg ain't talking. prolly the 7th

There was a promotion page found that stated a 8/4 release, however remember they won't ship till the 7th like every other site.

Do you think they'll run out like they did the 7900 512mb vid cards a few months ago?

Will there be enough supply?

From what intel said there will be "plenty" of stock.

Good. It's retarded for a tech hardware company to come out with a top line product and there not be enough supply, and by the time they meet demand, like a month later, the competition has outdid them with a newer product or lower price and value.

Well, if newegg's previous two offerings of the X6800 are to be used as a guide, the others should be horrendously overpriced as well!

Yeah, because Newegg is ALWAYS overpriced.

I said, JUDGING BY THE PREVIOUS TWO CONROE OFFERINGS they had, they *WERE* overpriced. I dunno about you, but I think EVERYONE considers $1360 for a $1000 CPU to be HORRIBLY overpriced.

They already had them in a couple of days ago... only the 6800 extreme though which was $1300+... Sold out rather quick, must've only had a few.

Newegg is usually overpriced for new products.. Same goes for other etailers, But Newegg is usually one of the worst..

Newegg's shipping pwns ZZF, sometimes it's worth a premium. Not a freaking 300 dollar premium though.

If they sold them all out in a hurry, obviously they were not overpriced.

Maybe you're just cheap.

I just ordered ZZF for the first time, Its just good as neweggs.. same day process/shipped :p

Selling a product for 30% more than other places is overpriced regardless of whether or not people bought it.

Overpriced but who's to blame them? They still sell out pretty much right away so may as well make some extra $$$.

I'd like to throw out some past hot product releases Newegg price gouged on:

FX-60: 60% premium
X2 4400+: 30% premium
P5B: 100+% premium
P5B Deluxe: 25% premium
X6800: 30% premium

Yeah, I'd say they are pretty consistent when it comes to new releases.

I wasn't placing blame anywhere, just making a point that it's overpriced. Hell I'd buy it at twice the price if I could afford to waste that much money without it having any impact on my financial situation. Anyone would. But it would still be overpriced.

What's interesting is,

and I dare someone to go check this out.

Build a computer at Newegg and then go to Monarchcomputer and build the same exact computer. Give yourself a budget of about $1500.

You will find that you basket is about $100 - $120 less at Monarch.

That great customer service and shipping people love at Newegg, guess what, you're paying extra for it. :)

Don't get me wrong, since 2003, my order history at Newegg shows about $25,000 grand.

You are 100% correct, HOWEVER, newegg does have great customer service, but Monarch has a Sweet walk in store and VERY, I MEAN VERY knowledgeable people that work there and will help with anything possible. The only reason I dont buy from them, and more from newegg is sales tax. I live in GA, so I would have to pay 7% tax. Sometimes it is just cheaper to buy from newegg....

Monarch is a great place to shop and cheaper than many many places. But the layout they have is very dated and hard to navigate. They could also use a lot more items to give people a greater selection across the board.

Another thing that really really hurts their sales and I've had several people tell me this. Is, their CPU bundle is a great tool with excellent prices ... BUT ... they have the worlds worse selection of H/S Fans to pick from. And when you are dealing with a totally automated system like that, it scares people off. That has kept me from ordering SEVERAL times.

The small details like that are killing them.

I would have been all over a pre-order AMD 5000+ for the wife if their bundle game was a lot better.

My fav etailers, and personal exp.
1. Mwave - Top Notch Customer Service.....
2. Monarch - Customer service was pretty good..
3. Newegg/ZZF <--- Tied :)

I prefer to shop at Newegg when possible, unless there is a significant price difference. I always like to look at their customer reviews as well as the multiple pictures they have of most of the products they sell. I feel their site is leagues easier to navigate than some of the other sites that may be a bit cheaper, and I prefer their checkout process to some of the other sites I've used.

They are a bit higher in price sometimes, and their shipping isn't as phenomenal as it used to be. (they STILL charge separate shipping for each item, which sucks when you order a lot of small items!) I think I'd feel more comfortable shopping at other sites if they would just copy Newegg's site design :p

The second computer I ever built (P1/133 1996), I bought my monitor/mobo from Mwave. They jerked me around on shipping, billed my CC too much and hung up on me when I called to bitch.

I've probably spent 150-200K between pricewatch/ebay/newegg since then... Never spent another dime at Mwave. :D

Damn, now I’m all nostalgic for “Computer Shopper” magazine. Are they even around anymore?

Yes, but a lot smaller. Hell, I don't even know if they are around anymore. I used to love buying each issue that came out back in the day, it was HUGE and cheap.

Last I saw a computer shopper was longer than a year ago and their format was much smaller now.

I'm sure due to costs.

The internet might have finally run them out of buisness. Dunno.

Um, no.

Newegg's shipping *USED* to own but ever since they started using UPS their shipping has gone straight to hell. ZZF almost *always* has more items with free 2nd day FedEx, *and* for a hell of a lot cheaper (I'm not joking, FedEx at NewEgg usually costs 2x-2.5x as much as at ZZF these days)

The only time I ever use NewEgg anymore is when I can't find the same item at ZZF. It's a shame that NewEgg could lose an ardent customer like myself over something so stupid.

Let's see, oh here's a funny one:

Antec Performance One P180

Newegg:
UPS 3-day - $28
UPS 2-day - $68
UPS Overnight - $73
FedEx Saver - $65
FedEx 2-day - $112
FedEx Overnight - $139

ZZF
FedEx ground - FREE
FedEx 2-DAY - $26
FedEx overnight - $47

So yeah, I would say that's ****ing bull**** and anyone who still thinks NewEgg's shipping rocks needs to have their head examined.

I won't even get started on the dangers of having anything remotely valuable shipped via UPS.

I wasn't talking about price, buddy. I was talking about getting my order quickly. Alot of times I get my orders next day after order including processing with the Newegg UPS 3-Day shipping. For example, the free shipping on my case from ZZF is coming tomorrow (8/01/06) when it was ordered on 7/24/06. The processing time and shipping time of newegg's owns ZZF with comparable price + S/H (ZZF's base price is usually higher when the item has free shipping).

$4.50 to $6.75 ground is I what pay most often at Newegg. Last order was Mobo & HDD, Newegg has a wharehouse in Memphis, only 143 miles away. I ordered on Friday and missed my package on Monday:) Hell I wasn't expecting it. I ordered from Directron that Thursday and got my PSU on Tuesday. BOTH UPS ground.

I agree though, Newegg is not as good as they used to be! Even their service isn't the same. I also don't feel bad for lazy or blindly loyal shoppers! I have about 7 places I trust and they all know I'll look for the best deal.

I still trust NewEgg, they're just not my first choice anymore because I know that if I buy something at NewEgg, I'm going to have to pay a heft premium to have it shipped (I refuse to have anything remotely valuable shipped via UPS)

I still prefer to buy my expensive items locally @ Fry's. I still have a hefty purchase list from online retailers, but I like the fact that I can take *anything* back to Fry's and they'll replace it or give me my money back.

I remember dropping video memory (yeah, I'm old) onto my shag carpet years ago and listening to the carpet break as I pulled the chip out of it. Needless to say, the video didn't look so good after popping them into the card.

On the spot exchange.. thanks Frys! :p

I'd buy it at Fry's if they had a clue what it was and when it was coming in.

I went over there the other day and they were 47 kinds of no help at all.

I'm surprised NewEgg hasn't got any preorders going on.

Jaime

Well, Fry's is like Radio Shack; you have to know what you want before walking in. I've never asked someone at either place anything beyond "where is....?".

UPS in my area is not that bad! There's also a Large Hub in Little Rock. Complaints get heard here. I still like the Egg too.

Same here but we're limited, the nearest Fry's is in Dallas. If they had one in Memphis I'd drive there in a heart beat. I like Memphis.

even people out of the United States "shop" at newegg... then they go buy from another site that sells to other countries. Newegg has a great layout for a learner newb like me.
