When will ATI have 3D?

I took this screenshot on my HD5850 (I switched from shutter glasses to Red/Cyan so I could take a 3D screenshot)

So, you were saying?

I need to edit and put more sarcasm? But anyway the people stopping it and most progress, are the people that still use XP and say its better than anything since. And the average user with a dual core whatever and whatever the steam hardware surver says last its not pretty. Most people wont have direct X 11 for at least 5 years. So you cant expect them to have 3d for a long long time. Unless its the ps3.

it's a gimmick still no matter how many people try to push it

If you think its a gimmick or don't like it then skip it. This really is a technology that must be experienced firsthand, it's difficult to recommend but at the same time I'm liking it and am happy. Just needs more and better game support but there's enough there to have some fun and it looks like there's a more games coming out with support like Stacraft 2.

We shall see what will happen and that's where all the fun is with speculation!:)

Well, it may be heresy. But 3ds best hope lays with the consoles. Having to upgrade, buy, or workaround with so many things. Puts it above the general users tolerance level. Even if its cheaper to buy a nvidia glasses and monitor kit and 260, than a glasses and 3d TV kit. People will always go for the options where they have to do the least. And more people buy 3d TVs than 3d monitors. A console will be a one hit fix for 3d problems. 3d compters shall have to wait for the glacial progress of slow ass mainstream upgraders.

today I was confronted by someone in my house, and they were convinced that I was using the new computer for 'hacking' because theres no reason to have ones that powerful. One is a Dual 2.0ghz 8800GTX...

having experienced it first hand I am telling you that until they can do it without using glasses, it's a gimmic.

How many people can enjoy that 3d game with you using those steroscopic glasses?
when you watch 3d movies you need those shutter glasses for everyone and they are confined to a narrow viewing angle......

just because [insert entity here] supports or is trying to push it does not mean it will be successfull.......

it's like 120hz lcds that came out after 60hz lcds it's a marketing tool ot get you to buy a new [insert item here] they then moved on to 240hz lcds and now they are pushing 3d lol........

Well after reducing the resolution in Just Cause 2 to 4800x900 call it a gimmic all you want, it had me dogging all over the place, just impressive as hell.

Sure it would be nicer without the glasses but when 3D is done right like JC2, yeah, I'm not going to pass that up from now on. It's just a new level of beauty in gaming.

There isn't a narrow viewing angle and I don't think you've seen 3D at all. If you have seen the recent IMAX Grand Canyon Adventure in 3D then you would be in awe. Its an awesome disc to own to show people. I've demo'd it for 10 people so far and every one had their jaw on the floor.
