wanna update my notebook with SSD. but still think expensive., when will the SSD price down? or anybody recommend a very reasonable price with good quality for me.
My notebook is HP mini 1000, 1.8" ZIF interface.
 
You can already get them for a $1 a gig on sale (older gen drives), how much lower do you want them to go? So far all the newer drives coming out haven't been coming down in price but have stayed at the same price per gb as they were before the holiday season last year (the intel drives mainly and newer sandforce drives).
 
Yeah the fact that your netbook uses a ZIF interface for the SSD already makes it more expensive than normal SSDs. Considering that the ZIF interface isn't that widespread in computers and the fact that ZIF SSDs for PC isn't exactly in high-demand, at least for ZIF SSDs, the prices are gonna be high no matter what.
 
I'd wait for a bit, the price is much lower now but it's still dropping.
I'll buy my first SSD once there are more of them than spinners on the market.
 
you might wait a long time? dollar per gb spinners will still be ahead for some time to come I think. SSD's aren't reaching near the same capacity for a decent price. Try getting 3 TB in an SSD...
 
Right now would be a good time to get previous generation SSDs.
The new generation SSDs are still a little too pricey.
Another month or two and prices should go down with more competition.

Since you've given no price points I predict that two dollar SSDs are in the near future.

I would definitely just purchase a 64gb ssd for about $100 +or- $15. Well worth it.
 
wow I didn't know SSD are this cheap now, $100 seems manageable,

OT: my first ever HDD upgrade cost me $200+tax
it was a 2GB WD model purchased from Costco. :p
