I've tried to find information on this and I can't find a definition for a Laing pump. Is it a brand? a type of pump?

If someone could point me to say a wiki article (even though I searched there, no luck) or some sort of description with proper illustrations that would be great.

They are a pump manufacturer. Their pumps are often re-branded and sold by other distributors. Here's their website:

There is the D5 series, both fixed and vario.

sold as 450 under koolance:

or MCP655 by swiftech

Then you have the ddc series. It is smaller, but has higher head pressure (usually the one recommended). It has several variations, each increment as little more powerful. The 3.1, then 3.2 which is more powerful, then 3.25 which is slightly more powerful then 3.2
The 3.25:

Koolance sells it as pmp 400
http://www.koolance.com/water-cooling/product_info.php?product_id=334
and swiftech markets the 3.2 as the MCP 355.

It can be a bit confusing, but it all comes down the same pumps.

D5 (comes in fixed speed or adjustable speed) = MCP655 = PMP 450
DDC 3.1 = MCP 350
DDC 3.2 = MCP 355
DDC 3.25 = PMP 400

What a very excellent reply Shiny

If mods could give "ata boys" (instead of just infractions) you just got one. Superior.

you should just start handing out infractions to everybody who doesn't answer the question awesomely.
