Firefox 1.0.6 on Windows XP MCE2005 and MacOS X 10.4.2.

At work, I use IE6+Maxthon. Everyone at work uses Maxthon :D

I use FireFox. For all of you saying "knowledgable people don't get spyware with IE" I suggest you check your systems frequently. I never had spyware with IE but with FireFox there's less of a chance of getting it accidentally.

Maxthon

Maxthon Internet Browser software is a powerful tabbed browser with a highly customizable interface. It is based on the Internet Explorer browser engine (your most likely current web browser) which means that what works in the IE browser will work the same in Maxthon tabbed browser but with many additional efficient features

How can your chances get better than never?

Firefox 1.0.7, I really like what the Mozilla team has done with all of their products and I tend to support open-source.

Well I voted Firefox, but since Opera 8.5 went free it is now my Browser of Choice. Fast as hell, and stable. It is a bit of a memory hog, but no more than any other browser, besides you can set the amount of memory it uses so it doesn't go crazy. I have heard reports of Opera using upwards of 300MB!

Anywho, its running great. Opera 8.5 for me now!

Opera has been doing it for me since v3.6 and i'm using v8.02 now. Firefox is great too but to get it to somewhere near the features that Opera has, I have to search around for a long while to get all the extensions and even then its missing a lot of features that only Opera has. Now that its free I hope more people will try it out.

I use Avant Browser. I've tried Firefox on a few occasions, but just never really liked it. I definitely see the benefits of using it though, especially for people who tend to fill their PC with spyware and/or are easily susceptible to phishing. So don’t take this as a Firefox bashing, IE loving post. As of right now, though, I'll stick with Avant.

Firefox 1.0.6 for the majority of my browsing
IE for windows updates

I myself really like the adblock extension that is available for Firefox, I love the tabbed browsing, the availability of different themes as well as all of the extensions that are written for it.

the security was the main reason i tried it out, but reading different sites online have revealed that Firefox is not a secure as of late but it seems that the fixes for bugs/patches is quicker and regardless after using it for the last 6 months or so i really like it

I use Opera exclusively at home. Definitely my preferred browser.

Doesn't really work on my work machines though, so I'm forced to use IE there. :(

Firefox 1.0.7, always! I tried the 1.5 beta, but every time I'd type an apostrophe into a textarea while posting in a forum it wouldn't enter the apostrophe but rather would go into the text find mode, so I quit using it. I never use IE. I took a look at some Opera screenshots and thought it looked ugly and decided not to try it. Unless something comes out that is vastly superior to Firefox I'll never stop using it.

Edit: Just tried Opera. It recognizes my middle mouse button, pretty cool heheh. Edit2: After I click the middle mouse button, my scroll wheel doesn't work until I move the scrollbar up and down. Damn that button...

well hate to break it to ya but omg.. holes!

seriously. i scanned my lappy with Ad-Aware prior to the instalation of firefox, i had 75 critical objects. most were tracking cookies.i also AV scanned it, i had 3 trojans. then i installed firefox. about the same time later (with even heavyer web browsing) i re scanned both AV and spyware.. i had only 10 cookies (non critical) and no trojans. speaks for itself. imo.

You pretty much lost all credibility right there.

I have a very hard time believing that switching browsers makes you a smarter computer user.

Avant Browser. Haven't found anything better, including Firefox. Plus I have always prefered how it handles tabs compared to Firefox. It just works.

Id say eliminating threat vectors qualifies as a mark of intelligence
and while the vectors in question may now be patched (maybe)
switching to another ap with less target area and fewer sharpshooters is a viable and shrewd move in many a book

I like IE, nice and simple. Alt+tab is a lot easier than tabbed browsing.

"kthx"

I use IE6 for almost everything. I use WinXP with SP1, and as such, I have IE6 set to a very custom security setting which basically just runs HTML. If a website I need to run uses advanced content and I trust it, I just add it to the trusted sites list.

On the rare ocassion a site needs advanced content, but I don't trust It (such as tvguide.com), I just ploop open firefox.

I have no use for tabed browsing, or any other fluff, so IE is my web browser of choice. I have it very minimal.

Never had a problem with spyware or other "malware" ever since I changed the security settings(1.5+ years ago if im not mistaken).

Even when you can press Ctrl+tab to switch tabs? (Or move your mouse up and left or right with Mouse Gestures. And have extensions switch you back to each tab in the order they were viewed.)

Tried just about every browser under the sun at one point or another, but I have been using Opera for about 5 years now and haven't found anything better.

It's the mouse gestures that set it apart from the mozilla browsers for me.

This is a shot in the dark, but do you happen to be a student that uses Blackboard portal services. My alma mater uses Blackboard for some of its portal stuff and Opera b0rks on the Blackboard rendering. Trying to find out if it's just an issue on my PC, or if there is some Blackboard/Opera incompatibility.

note: the above question is open to anyone who cares to give any information they have about it.
