Yes, I saw that today. Evil mentioned earlier in the thread that WUs will get moved over to universal deployment after the initial run. I don't mind so much the lower production. Compared to the 1888s they produce about a 120PPD drop which isn't noticeably less, but compared to the 353s these are roughly 1500PPD lower. On days we would have seen many 353s, it is a significant drop to be receiving these new units instead, but that doesn't bother me too much.

What concerns me more is the additional heat. It has been cold lately and the heat has not caused me to lower the OCs yet, but it won't be the case when the seasons change and Stanford continues to release these hot WUs. I have a system with 4 single-slot cards. It will be interesting to see what will come of this in spring. I'm thinking of removing one or two cards from that system or replace the cards with dual-slotted cards. This is an unfortunate turn of events. I'm going to be forced to look into superior cooling if hotter WUs become the norm.

    I've dropped from ~6-6.5k to ~5k on my 9800's.
With 13 clients that equal to around a 15-20k drop overall.

    Luck ........... :D

The 1500-2000PPD drop I see on my GTX260 is pretty noticeable, as is the additional 400PPD drop from clocking my 9600GSO down to a speed where it will actually run these units without EUEing. I don't really care that much about points, but I'm having stability issues with these units which isn't fun to deal with.

I'm concerned about stability as well and watching these units with a hawk's eye today. How much of a drop are you seeing on your GTX260 compared to the 1888-pt WUs? On my 8800s they're very close.

    I'm seeing a 600-700PPD drop compared to 1888s and 472s on my GTX260.

finally got one of these WU's.. getting 6400 PPD on my GTX 260 216 core running at 57C 70% fan @ 675/1458/1150.. my usual temp between 47-51C at the same fan speed.. the TPF is 00:01:15

Checking on the farm this morning I noticed my 285 GTX was running one of these units @ 92 C :( And this is a mild overclock (700/1480) running the fan at 100%. This rig might be bound for the cool basement.

My temps aren't that bad with these new protiens.
My 9800's are running these in the high 60's-low 70's.
Thats up ~5C vs the older work-units.

But then again my farm is setup with a high air flow threough the cases to keep the i7's cool so that also helps to keep the vid cards cool.

    Luck ............ :D

How's the fan noise while running at that speed? My 275 used to sound like hair dyers when cranked up that high.

My 260 is running about 70 C on the 10101 projects.

I couldn't beleive my eyes when I saw 92 C this morning on the 280 for the same project. Now where did I leave that can of compressed gas ........ time for some cleaning when I get home.

This project runs really hot on my GTX285 rig. Came home today and the core clock dropped in half (700 -> 400 MHz). Shutdown the GPU client, rebooted and the WU was trashed upon restart. Wasted. :( Downclocked to 695 MHz and its cranking away at 84 C.

Found this link on the MSI forums, not the only ones.

I certainly hope this WU is not a sign of things to come. This is going to push alot of rigs over the edge.

No way I'm running these in the summer. If Stanford continues to send them, I'll either shutdown my single-slots or move on to better cooled cards. The additional heat doesn't only affect GPUs, it adds extra stress to the entire system. I strongly advise everyone open your cases for those who run their boxen closed. At least until either this WU run ends or a better cooling solution is implemented.

Oddly enough, my single slot 8800GT doesn't run any warmer with these. It runs around 75C no matter what is folding. My dual slot 9600GSO, on the other hand, normally runs @ 50C and these p10101's are running between 58-59C.

HUH? I can't hear you over the fans and this ringing in my ears!

Oh forget it. I've got T-rad 2 coolers keeping my cards cool and fairly quiet despite these WUs, I just might stop receiving advmethods units if they keep getting hotter. It's a lot cheaper than watercooling though I'd like to eventually anyway.

Unfortunately for you, these have been released to gen-pop.. no way to avoid them now. I can't complain or feel anyones pain as they ran fine for me with only slight temperature increases. They ran about the same speed, maybe slightly slower, than 1888's do now.

I wish I could figure out why the hell my 8800GT keeps EUE'ing out nearly every couple hours. (if I keep restarting the client)

My card's running at stock speed (as it always has). Thermalright HR-03 GT cooler with a 92mm Vantec Stealth on it, so it's not a heat issue. I've uninstalled the Forceware 195.62's, rebooted, ran DriverSweeper, reinstalled the Forcewares. *Still* get EUE eventually. It's happened before these WU's, so it's not them....I just don't get it.

I hope these get worked through the kinks real quick and go away; I'm tired of the PPD drop with these.

try the 191.xx drivers or the 186.16 drivers.. i had better luck with the 186.16 drivers on my 8800GT but you lose the ability to do double precision computing(though this doesnt matter for F@H only Boinc).. i had nothing but problems with the 195.65 WHQL drivers on my GTX 260.. so i went back to the 191.xx drivers and they have been flawless ever since..

I have many 8800GT cards mostly in single-slot with OEM coolers and they're all overclocked. The only difference I can see is the drivers I'm using. I'm running old versions 177.89 and 178.24 drivers. I suggest you try other driver versions and see if the problem persists. Once you get the card stable, OC a bit. They can handle some increase. My production on each card is between 4250-4700 PPD depending on the OC. At stock speed you're probably seeing under 4000 PPD.

Is there something I'm missing? You guys are saying a couple thousand ppd drop, well my mild OC gtx 260 went from 7500~9000 ppd to 3500 with these WU's. These are the only WU's I've gotten for the last 24 hours.

My 260's are putting out 6400/6500 on these. 626/1349/1053. That's what they came at stock and I haven't played with them yet. With the fans on 70% they're running at 68/62 degrees.

the one thing i did notice with these WU's is the PPD fluctuates like hell. been watching it ever since i posted the screen shot.. the PPD bounces around between 5800-7200PPD but usually stays around 6600-6700PPD..

Well, I know there is a settings issue somewhere. I have been using these exact settings since early november without any issues though, so I have no idea.

I know the WU is only at 1%, but that PPD estimate is pretty indicative of what I have been seeing on my GTX 260 for the last 48 hours or so, so umm, I'm at a loss there.

3334 PPD.. you might want to open rivatuner or EVGA precision.. i got a good hunch the cards locked in 2D mode because the drivers crashed at some point.. 1604 is pretty friggin high for a shader clock to run these WU's.. i cant even get mine to fold at all above 1512..

My 8800GTs are doing 4250 PPD with these WUs and think there must be something amiss with your setup. Unfortunately, I don't have any 200-series cards or use the utilities you're using but hope someone here can help you out.

Well, let me clarify, I just moved this week, before farm comes down, 1575ish~1604 shader no problem (before I started seeing P10101), this week, everything goes back up and this.
