Oi, yeah I would say more RAM may be likely to help here. I hated how WoW ran on Vista with only 2GB of RAM, 4GB was much better for me personally. Actually I just hate Vista with 2GB of RAM in general. From all accounts, Warhammer uses more resources compared to WoW.

Anyway, maybe they will gradually introduce some optimizations to help on a variety of systems. They made a lot of changes to the graphics options right at the end of Open Beta, so hopefully they make a few more to help you out.

negative. I have a 8800gt and the framerate is the same at 1280x800 and 1920x1200, meaning that the game is actually making your CPU cry. If the video card was the limit, the framerate at 1920x1200 would be significantly lower.

I am cpu bottlenecked from 1280x800 to 1920x1200 even with a E8400@4.2ghz.

Also, if you are running this game in Vista with only 2gb ram, you are proper fucked. war.exe will use up to 1.5gb by it self, and we all know you will never have that much free in Vista with only 2 total. I took two of my 1gb sticks the other day to boot another pc and tried the game with 2gb, it was hard drive thrashing hell.
 
This question is serious. I'm waiting for my 4850 to arrive from newegg. Will a 7600GS be able to run WAR at 1920x1200 with everything at low?
 
got the game sitting here taunting me at work, can't wait to get home tonight. No rush though since I work and have other hobbys you will all be maxed out when im still at level 10 heh.

Beta ran great on my machine It would be nice to utilize some of this 8GB of ram though.

What is the best way to find a guild?

My roommate is playing this in 1280x1024 on High Quality settings and it runs pretty OK with a 7600GT. I presume the game would be playable on your slower card even at that resolution, but do not expect miracles :D

I am not experiencing these issues. Vista on 2gb RAM is scary. I imagine upgrading to 4gb would smooth things out for you.
 
I am running the game with the rig in sig @ 1080p (max settings). Framerate is very good. Minor slowdowns here and there. Overall, I am very satisfied with the performance at launch.
 
i just upgraded my old amd x2 4800+ to a q6600 and man what a difference, no more little stuttre slowdowns everything is smooooooooooth as butter, and kind of looks a bit crisper too (maybe its just a placebo though)

This game is so much fun.

Most games start out that way. The true test of a game is whether or not it can stay fun, especially in the realm of MMORPGs. I've never subscribed for any single MMO for longer than 6 consecutive months.
 
So how long did it take you guys to get your headstart and preorder bonus code? I ordered from CircuitCity on Sunday after beta ended, figured I could just patch it and keep playing again on Tuesday, but the only email I've gotten from those wankers was one from late last night telling me that the copies are out of stock so I wouldn't get my shipment on time.

.....or is it people that "pre-order" after Sept 14. are SOL anyway?
 
I played in beta and cancelled my pre-order, I dunno. Sick of wow its the same crap and havent played it for months. Not sure I want to commit to an mmorpg again tho.
 
Game is running fantastic at 1920x1080, it is sucking up alot of memory, my machine says I have over 5GB in use :)

Ordered mine from fry's I thoguht I was supposed to get some kind of special item for pre-ordering. How do I get it?

Guess it's time for me to stop by GameStop and pick my my CE. Tough for people who are getting it shipped though :( IMO.. sort of a lame grace period.. and the lack of any heads up is getting pretty old.
 
I thought Mythic had orrignally said we had until the 22nd to register our retail codes. I'm kinda dissapointed they did this. Screws over those who are waiting for their retail copies to be mailed to them. I'm heading out after work to grab a retail copy now. Can't live without sex and WAAGH!
 
They did say the 22nd. Not very good customer service. Guess I won't be able to play this weekend. I may not be playing it at all after this.

Not saying its your fault, however why wouldn't you just have purchased the game from a place with a delivery deadline? My friends that bought the game online got it delivered on *Wednesday*, and we live in Maine.

Also if Mythis said the 22nd, I'd like to see it. I don't recall that.

I got my copy a day early so I couldn't care any less. Personally, I think they should just get rid of head starts altogether. It would be interesting to see why they canceled the grace period and wanted people to actually have the game instead of playing for free for a few days.

I'm thinking money has something to do with it.

Yeah I am not a fan of the Head Start process in general. Originally I bought 3 $10 pre-orders at Gamestop, then I returned the $10 pre-orders and went to Target and bought their Head Stat kits for 99 cents each. That 99 cents got into the test weekend, Open Beta, and Early access with zero obligation to buy the game... So yeah that worked out.

Unfortunately, WAR was EA's most pre-ordered game >ever< so this type of thing is likely to get even worse. EA had a good campaing to me people want to pre-order for the Early Access and Beta Access.
 
The head start is a great idea as it lessens the amount of people hammer the servers all at once until they choke.
CE orders get in on Sunday, retail pre orders on Tuesday and retail purchases on thursday. The load is nice and spread out.

I can also understand why they cut off those(myself included) on head start who have not entered a retail key. You could pre-order, get your key and then cancel and play forever. At some point you have to have a retail key.

Also if those of us who preordered from whatever location selected next day air we would have had our copies. That's the risk you take when you order online and have to wait on shipping. It's really my own fault. I could have selected next day or two day delivery or just pre-ordered locally. Not a big deal as I work 12 hour days today and tomorrow so I really don't need it until Sunday.

I paid for the shipping method that would get me the game by the 22nd. If they had been upfront about the deadline being today, I would have paid for overnight shipping, or probably wouldn't have pre-ordered at all and just went and bought the game retail.

Anyway the Mythic employees posting on Warhammer Alliance were basically telling everyone to like it or leave it, they didn't really care. So I don't think they will be giving away any time. But I have sent them and EA a complaint anyway.

Is it truly that big of a deal? No. But it does give the indication that they don't care that much about the customers who pre-ordered the game AND help them beta test the game. So if they are showing this much lack of respect for their customers now, how will it be in 6 months or a year?

At first I thought everyone was talking about Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. I thought it was a new additon to that. (That game sucked).

But... Yeah. This game is amazing! Cant wait!

Has now been resolved. They extended the period until the 22nd for everyone with a headstart key.
 
Well I just looked at the Warhammer site and looks like they have somewhat reversed themselves and are letting some people who pre-ordered from certain retailers (Amazon, GoGamer and EA Store) have the until the original 22nd cut-off date.

It's good that the grace period has been extended, I was planning to play quite a bit this weekend. I'm just about to hit level 8 where things start to get interesting.
 
Odd, I preordered SE from Go-gamer and got my Retail package in the mail yesterday. I just used the dirt cheap shipping option too.
 
I pre-ordered from CC weeks ago and then got an e-mail the night of 9/17 saying that shipment was delayed until the end of the month/October time frame. So I canceled that shit and re-ordered for store pickup yesterday. Went smooth like cheesecake.
 
i need to get a computer that can run today's games on it.... sigh. no point in buying this until then.
 
I got mine from frys (regular eddition) for $42 and got it yesterday! lol

Is this game optimized for 64 bit? Using 5 GB of ram is ok with me but I wish it would utilize more since I can still see my Hard Drive constantly ticking. I have a feeling the game is only actualy using 4GB of ram and windows is using the rest :(.
 
Could be vista 64bit... I had memory issues with it as well with my creative soundcard sucking up tons of resources until I had to use stock mb sound.

This describe my WAR experience during peak hour.... hate guild didn't move to new server while they could.

Only level 7. Enjoying the game. Hope that it will be fun all the way to 40.
