Vega Rumors

Let's be clear. It is an article about something that was supposedly under NDA until May 8 yet we have never seen a single article with full presentation.

That means that it is most likely a bad fake and you should feel bad. Especially since it claims that TXP is twice faster than 1080 in Doom...
Hey the thread was dying. So I do not feel bad

This chart was all my coworker was talking about this morning. He still believes it's legit (too stubborn to admit otherwise).

I do not think 1800X buyers with MSI X370 board are qualified to talk about nonsense.

Source, please :)

It's AMD's screw-up to bet on the wrong horse.

Search yourself you are a shill and have always been a shill. Go back to your Intel graveyard zombie. You guys are not worth what I flush down my toilet bowl. Like vultures spreading your discord and misery. HBM2 wsill be available in a couple of months in greater quantity and that is when Vega RX will be released. Tell me you have proof that HBM2 won't be available. I do not think Samsung and Hynix would risk their reputations not to get it out as quickly as possible. What happened to your wishful thinking for Nvidias Volta this year? I estimate it won't be ready unitl late March at BEST. The 10nm process has been plagued with problem after problem. Even Intel can't get their10nm cpus out this year. Should I be scowling at you? Just a bunch of negativist vultures. The bottom of the barrel.

Did you just compared Intel's real 10 nm node with a PR "10 nm" node?
If yes...I can write you off in a second as clueless...

"Apple's offering a third-party Thunderbolt 3 enclosure with an AMD Radeon RX 580"

Is that where all the rx 580 went? Apple inventory?

ALL attempts at 10nm whether on Intels process or on other processes have been fraught with difficulty I NEITHER implied nor stated they were comparable so stop twisting my words.

In a weird

That is still only a theory.

miners are definitely eating them up. I have nowinstock alerts set up for all AMD rx 570 and rx 580 and within 5 minutes of them coming into stock they are out of stock again.

My single 6 card rig I can make 1k a month, and I seriously want to get more rigs, but can't get AMD cards, going to go with gtx 1070's more expensive but they should give more hash rates, the ratio won't be as good as the AMD cards so ROI will be longer.

Thats not a die shot, but this is an actual leaked die shot of Navi confirmed by an rtg member

Clueless it is indeed.
You should not take PR labels seriously.

What do I call it then? I've always been told that's a GPU die shot. What I'm looking at on you're post I don't really have the knowledge to understand, what the hell is that?

Don't feel bad. It's technology far more advanced than we currently have.

It is part of what is happening but not all of the story IMO.
Even the most expensive 580s are unavailable (ones near and over $300) are out of stock; would you buy those high priced 580s for mining?
Point for 580 was the cheap models, once you go over a certain price range it then can make more sense to look at 1070.

I cannot imagine any of the bulk miners buying the top Strix//top XFX Black edition/etc 580s.
Cheers

Miners scoop them all up without second thoughts. And because it is another hype train, the only people who do the math and buy 1070s are people selling 580s on ebay for $300+.

Really? Please read up on it before you post about mining again. With profit in mining right now especially ether the extra cost of card is irrelevant. Wait are you seeing the rx 470 fetchingclose to 300-400 on eBay? Yea it is! Is it worth it? No! But the craze is real you should accept that.

paying more than 300 bucks on rx 580's is not worth it.

The rx 480 still performs the same as the rx 580 with less power consumption by a lot too, in the neighborhood of 30 watts less when mining

Its actually better to go to the 1070's instead of getting the rx 580's if a person is going to spend 300 bucks or more for the 580's

Most alt coin mining performance is based on how much vram you have and timings, after a certain mhz on the core, its not worth going more cause you end up not gaining any hash rate but loosing perf/watt. For all my cards (rx 580) that magic number is right around 1200 mhz. Vram is up to 2150 to 2200 and I modded the timings. (for eth mining).

Haven't you noticed that 1070's are still in limited supply too? Many brands on new egg can only get one or two of them.

Not only that, 1070 on zcash mining kicks AMD's ass. On eth its got a higher hash rate than the rx 580 but cost wise ROI is just a bit lower.

Yeah I do read up on it, after a price range it makes more sense to switch to the 1070.
The argument was 580 is much cheaper than 1070 and people looked at the $220 to $250 range with that argument, also it is that you have to downclock/volt to get each card within a reasonable large power demand, with the 1070 you do not.
Of course Nvidia has some challenges such as with Ethereum without Claymore and latest CUDA or Nvidia CUDA support is added a bit afterwards for some other options, but it always comes back to price/perf and lesser extent power demand for mining and when scaling beyond buying a single GPU.
From actual crypto mining blog site:
Then again you should be able to achieve the same result with a cheaper RX 580 or even RX 570 after you tweak the memory straps, reduce the clock speeds and operating voltages. So out of the box this is good for gamers, with some tweaking it can still become a miner friendly video card, though you should be careful what you do but the higher price of this particular model may make it not as attractive for miners as for example the GPUs from Sapphire’s PULSE series.
And that is not the most expensive 580 out there, ones I mentioned that are out of stock are still quite a lot more.
Cheers

So if Zcash is so great why did you buy 580's? I can find 1070's pretty easily still, yet the 580's are gone. Not only that but I am selling my old amd 290x on ebay and they are going for over 250 a piece, yet a 980ti is 300 bucks. Your own buying habits betray what you just wrote and the used Nvidia card market says there is not massive demand for them for mining.

Those video cards that miners use, when would they come back to the used card market? And, at what price?

Currently people are mining ETH, which seems like there is no plan on ASICs coming out, they can keep mining with GPUs indefinitely, meaning they probably won't sell them.

That's when the patient, budget gamers have a field day.
When Vega is out, if it's any good you might see dumping and disruption to eth. Tick tock...

Zcash is only on 1070's at the moment and I'm not mining Zcash right now, I'm mining Eth.

Why do you post about things you don't know about?

The 1070 ROI is less on eth.

You also have to factor in transaction fees, and wallet fees.

If you mine straight Zcash, you need to pay for both, so it drops it down to under Eth profit %'s. So eth is better right now, but once eth goes to proof of stake next year, Zcash, etc or monero will pick up.

There is a huge a demand of the 1070's and only the 1070's, I don't know why that is but I think its because of the ram timings of GDDR5 which makes a huge difference for eth mining. the 1080 sucks at eth mining. Works great for Zcash though, and the 1080ti even better for zcash, and not good for eth. But Zcash is a fairly new coin and still has time for maturity, and with possible transaction fees to either eth or btc, which can drop you profit % down by as much as 30% its better to build up Zcash and wait till wallets can cash out directly but that means the ROI is not going to be there for a long time. That is a no go.

My fuckin buying habits is just this, I buy the best for what they are worth that is it. So AMD is weak at gaming right now, and so screw em for gaming. Great at eth mining, if I can get my hands on them I will buy them, but I can't. Shit I spent more money on AMD products in one day then most of you "amd" loyalists spend on AMD products for an entire year or two!

Go figure

I do know and no one has mentioned using Nvidia for mining at all except you, thus why I asked. 1070 is in stock everywhere so I dont buy they are a hot thing, but if it's new maybe it will change but not until Zcash is valuable enough. ETH mining is where everyone is at right now. Now I am a AMD loyalist thats funny since I am selling my 290x cards since they go for stupid amounts of money and getting a Nvidia 1080, guess I got confused... I hate Intel and they are a unethical company and wont deny that, but I am not loyal to any 1 video card company. You spent a crazy amount of cash hoping the market doesn't collapse on ETH before you make your money back and I am sure AMD thanks you for your cash investment in them. I just find it funny since you hate AMD to almost illogical comedy. Now I hear that AMD and Nvidia are going to make mining cards that cant be used as video cards.. interesting times, but I have a feeling ETH will crash just like Bitcoin did and the massive fire sale will begin then.

This post inspired me to check eBay, and 280x' are going for a shitload as well. Time to offload the one in my closet, and maybe the wife's 7970 haha. (feel free to PM with offers xD)

Damn, that makes me consider putting off my purchases and wait until all the 580s get dumped on second hand market after inevitable crash.

There's never a dump from a "crash" because miners keep mining through minor downturns or just power off for a while, dumps of used cards come when something blatantly more EFFICIENT hits the market. If for example Vega is twice as powerful for only 150% of the power, then change will come, but it won't be RX series being dumped, it will be 200's and 300's.

Don't you know how bandwagoners react to downturns? They panic.

There was a huge crash in mid/late 2014 and the used market didn't recover until early 2016 when Ethereum hit the street.

That seems about right when I got my second 290x since they went down so much in price on the used market.

You mean the used market went to where it was normally was when there wasn't heavy mining demand. I'm sure there were a few extras around, but not that many, I still had a hard time buying 295's and 7990's .

Zcash is just as valuable as Eth, Zcash coin goes for 250 bucks or so, same as eth. And just found out Krakan exchange and wallet will be adding Zcash to direct to money tranfer, Coinbase should be to as one of the owners of Coinbase is one of the founding partners of Zcash. But until that happens I won't mine Zcash (well won't sell it).

And I just found out about it a week ago, about a month or two ago, nicehash and another guy made cuda versions of their zcash miner and its blows away AMD cards with open cl. I'm sure Claymore will be doing one as well, cuda based its very recent, that is why I'm saying the mining craze this time around will last a year at least.
