Value version of R520?

Anyone want to speculate on how long it will take for a $300 to 350-ish X800XL-esque "value" version of the R520 cards to come out for PCI-Express format? I'm debating between just breaking down and getting one for my next build, but I really don't want to do that if the R520's and an affordable card that will be much faster than the X800XL are only a couple months away. I can't order everything for another while anyway, so no worries on "always waiting for the next latest and greatest" .

I would imagine that ATi will release something along the lines of a "X900XL". Of course, that name is fore pure speculation, and reference. I hope that they do.

IIRC ATi is pretty much overhauling their whole architecture for R520, so I anticipate another launch similar to the 9700/9500 launch a few years ago.

So, Lets say the new cards are called XI700 or 11700 (crappy names but they coincide with ATi's current naming scheme), I bet there will be a "sweet spot" card somewhere around a XI500 (or 11500).

Supposedly the midlevel R520 is going to be faster then the X850 XTPE but thats just inquirer's guess. Personally I think its probably gonna be near the current X800Xl in terms of speed with an updated feature set from its faster brothers.

Don't forget that they will come on a lemonblue PCB, with a build-in alarm-clock and coffemachine...

Also, with 24 physical pipelines "with 1.5x the performance of today's pipes" shouldn't it be a bit more powerful than a current X800XL??

Yep, it hasnt been given yet. It just a bunch of rumors out, saying when they would be released. I hope E3 clears this up, so everyone stops asking all these R520 questions!!

Oh, of course there most likely be a XL card on the R520 core. The X800Xl was a success(mainly because alot of people didnt want to dish out 450-600 for a X800 XT/Pe). Whatever they call the new cards based on the R520 core, say X900 like alot of you are saying, there be a X900XL, and will probably come out 6 months after the main R520 cards are released like the X800XL did.

I think that the X900XL (if there even is to be one) will be released sooner. It seems that this time ATi thought of it later on and released it accordingly. Based on the X800XL's success, I would imagine that ATi will release something of the sort around the same time as the Pro's and XT/PE's. It sort of makes sense, ya know?

I don't think there will be any "XL" type card for the R520. The XL differs from the current cards mostly in that it is made on the 110nm process (vs 130nm)

Since it seems like ATi will make the premium card on the new 90nm process, it doesn't leave any room for an XL type card. I think they will have a different (yet similar) gpu ala the RVs. I think it will use a narrower memory bus (like 128 bit, supposedly this saves a decent amount) and either 12 or 16 pipelines

The best deal will always be the value version of the top of the line. The 6800GT has all the features/pipes/etc that the Ultra has, but is clocked lower.The X800 XL has all the features/pipes of the x800 XT, but is clocked lower.
