Uncharted 4

I've noticed that positional audio seems to be much better in this version vs. the original games. In spite of the prior Uncharted releases always having the zany speaker array configuration, those games never really had much in the way of positional audio. At least I never found it noticeable. This one-has bare bones audio settings, but it sounds better and "wider." In this collection, the audio legitimately comes from the direction it's happening onscreen. It sounds comparable to Atmos implementation on the Xbox and PC IMO.

Sony’s 3D Audio tech in the PS5 has been great.

Yeah, this is the title I was hoping for. Sully is my favorite character from the Uncharted universe and he does a pretty good job keeping up considering he's old enough to be Nate's father. Plus, it's implied that he has had a lot of wealth come and go over the years + shitloads of adventures. He gives them a lot to work with and they wouldn't need to change the gameplay style.

Uncharted 4 was an amazing game but Lost Legacy noticeably improved the controls which were always a bit janky throughout the series.

Yeah, I pretty much count Lost Legacy as part of Uncharted 4 since it was supposed to be a DLC for it before they spun it off into a smaller game.

Gameplay wise it was def a little better, but I liked it a bit less narratively mostly because of the forced girl power nods and it was the start of ND's masculine female protagonists era instead of having a real male protagonist. I guarantee if they ever do another Uncharted, it will be Nathan's daughter as the lead, which was supposed to be a boy. And in that article Neil even asks "does this affect anything? No..", except potentially the game's next likely protagonist. 🙄

I'm actually surprised Uncharted 4 is a good as it is. It's basically 2 games patchworked together. The first 1/2 is basically a 3 hour cutscene you have to manually control. The last 1/2 is like the craziest shootouts in 1-3 played out consecutively. It has 0 flow, but it's still a good enough game thanks to the actors.

I'm still onboard for a Sully prequel. I don't think anybody else in the series is a strong enough character to carry a franchise reboot.
