Uncharted 2?

I was pretty amazed to see that there are 100 treasures now, too. If you're an Uncharted 1 vet, make note that you have to shoot a lot of them down "Resident Evil style."
I'm on chapter 7 or 8 and I've only got like 20, so I'm guessing the game probably hides them in other ways, too.

I'm really liking it so far. I'm on Chapter 24 or 25 at the moment.

Some things really annoy me though: It's frequently hard to determine what is a hand hold and what isn't. Drake's Fortune had this problem also but not on the same scale. It also seems like the "cheap death" factor has been cranked up also.

I was somewhat careful looking for all of them (and managed to get some of the trickiest) but still only ended up with about 40 after my first play through on hard. Now I'll have to search for the rest while finishing it on Crushing... :(

So I beat the game today, and without question this is GOTY. Hands down GOTY. If I didn't own a PS3, I'd be kicking myself right now. I'm gonna give it another go on Crushing. I find it really neat you can buy videos and such to watch. What they did with this game is just another 10 steps above the first one, which was already stellar. I'm thinking a live-action movie would be great after the apparent hype and follow through that this game has.

I thought you could go back and play individual chapters (after you've completed the game?), picking up the treasure you missed. Mentioned in an interview. The chapter selection screen should show you how many you got and how many there are in total (for that chapter). Of course, doesn't really help if you've missed some in all the chapters I guess.

I've only gotten to the fountain in ch 1 and I think I have six or seven of them, felt like they were handing them out like candy in the beginning.

I need to get this game, but I'm occupied by Aion! damnit!

And I wonder if this is the movie?

Will my wife actually sit down and watch this like it's a movie, as the new Sony commercials lead you to believe?

If so, do you have the option of replaying "chapters" you've already beaten? (in case I get ahead and she wants to watch...)

My wife actually has watched me play it for 2-3 hours thus far. She liked the first one, too.
It (and Uncharted 1) truly is the best blending of a movie-like story and a playable video game to date.

Yes, you can revisit older chapters just like in the first game. It'll make the collection process a lot eaiser, although I'm at least trying to get everything I can on the first pass. Naughty Dog has a ton of intentional red herring spots where you'll expect a treasure but actually find nothing at all :p

I never played, or really heard of really, the first one....(am I about to get flamed?)

But i'm pumped for this one! Also I have batman on the way, this could cause a conflict of interest.

The first game came out when the PS3 was still a bit of niche item. If I'm not mistaken it also came out right when a bunch of other games like Mario Galaxy, Mass Effect, and Assassin's Creed did, too.
It never got a ton of attention, but as more people got PS3's, word spread.
I'm only on chapter 7 or 8 of Uncharted 2, but I can tell you that the first game holds up pretty well to it thus far.

I totally agree. That is prolly one of my biggest complaints. It wasn't always obvious where to go because the handholds didn't stand out. I also didn't like the parts where you are following someone and then they just stop and you're expected to do something next, except they don't tell you that.

I like the fact that grips, ledges and what-not are hard to see. It makes you think more. And if you have trouble you can turn the help guide on or off.

yes. my wife enjoys watching me play the game.

Both uncharteds for that matter and she wants to see the movie even tho she doesnt play my PS3.

I told my wife I was getting a new game she would love to watch me play; her response "I have better things to do than watch you play video games". Le sigh.

That's funny. At least you tried, right? :D

so far so good, great game, im trying to space it apart so i don't beat it all in one run, but maaan is it hard to put down the controller.

I was in the same boat. But hell, the journey gets better and better as you progress....story, levels designs all get more and more detailed. It's nuts.

you arent supposed to tell! Just let her walk in and she will be immediately interested. Thats how it worked with my wife, next thing i knew she was just sitting down watching the action/scenes/chatter.

Where you have the two girls behind you and there is three guys walking in front when you jump into the water...don't want to give anything else away.

I remember that now. That pissed me off too. You have very limited ammo, and there are lots of guys with body armor and RPGs. I basically just stayed at the starting end and picked everyone off. Shoot the body armor guys slowly, one shot at a time in the head from behind cover. There will be quite a few more battles like that for the rest of the game.

CAUTION: THERE MAY BE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!!!!!

I don't know if it made me think more. It just made me spend 5 minutes jumping at every wall since 95% of them have enough geometry or bump-mapping to make them look climbable. It kind of brought the game down a tiny amount because it made the linearity obvious.

I'm annoyed with the boss battle. It wasn't fun or exciting. I was also annoyed when they brought out the Harry Hendersons. I felt that the nazi's screwed with the feel of the first game once they popped up and these guys don't do Uncharted 2 much good either.

I didn't like the story or the pacing as well as Drake's Fortune. This one is packed with a ton of epic moments that literally had me saying, "Holy Fucking Shit! That is incredible!" but at times it felt as if they were thrown in there to be awesome with the story elements written around them.

Don't get me wrong. I loved the game. Uncharted 2 scores an A+ with me and is easily my game of the year. But some of the small flaws that you'd accept in other games are magnified when the rest of it is so freaking amazing.

Man, that shit had me about to cry at the end...then...yeah, you'll see.

Ending was fucking awesome. My God, I'm playing through that at LEAST twice more by December.
Took me 8 hours and 50 minutes. I haven't even started on MP and I already have $445k...lol.

****************SPOILERS***************

Hmm. I can understand your points; here's what I think.

It was much easier to tie in Nazi's to video games like that of Uncharted 2 because historically they were on the search for supernatural powers such as that of the Cintamani stone. The Nazi theme never went super deep, so I enjoyed it popping up in limited doses. As far as the "Harry and the Henderson's" I think you might be missing the point. Yeti/Abominable Snowman have always been a area of myth in the locations noted in Uncharted 2. Its was pure genius to tie that theme into the search for the Cintamani stone (and the defenders of the stone).

While that's true they really serve no purpose other than to act as bullet sponges that are less interesting than the humans. I think they would have been awesome if one 15 foot tall yeti just popped up out of the blue in one of the scenarios. As they are now they're just dime-a-dozen bad guys that take 100 rounds from an M4 or 2 crossbow bolts to put down.

I can understand breaking up the monotony of shooting humans but these guys just have 2 AI routines: fire a crossbow/sling and run directly at you. Once you get to the end it's just fire-fight after fire-fight with them. Just like the nazi's from the first game.

****************SPOILER*******************

15 foot tall Yeti is probably seen as too unrealistic...a "monster". IMO, Naughty Dog is trying to make the Yeti myth realistic by explaining it through the use of humaniods. I guess to each their own though.

**I believe their is only 3 total 1 on 1 fights with the Yetis, but it only takes 1 bow shot per :)

Technically, more people have seen giant yeti than blue humans that become nigh-invincible by eating tree sap. :)

It doesn't really matter as it's just nitpicking. Uncharted 2 is still an excellent game.

All this talk of uncharted 2 has me thinking about picking it up, Is there any point in grabing the first one to catch up on the story line?

Its not necessary, but there is a little bit that overlaps. I don't think playing the second one first would ruin the first one, either in the story or because it felt lacking gameplay wise. I would definitely recommend playing the first one though, its an excellent game in its own right.

Fuck multiplayer. Gonna match 3 level 1s and 2 level 11s with fucking 3 level 28s and 2 16s or whatever. Give me a fucking break. Can't even get out of my goddamn spawn.

I mean seriously?

there have been some parts so far that have dropped my jaw. So much going on at once and the framerate didn't dip at all, amazing!! Cant wait to leave work to finally be able to play all night!!!!!

Tried my Currency Multiplier pre-order code only to discover that it's not valid, so either I got the wrong code, someone else has used it, or it isn't on PSN yet (but why wouldn't it be).

Google shows at least one other having the same issue.

Anyone else redeemed a Currency Multiplier?

I still haven't played Uncharted yet. Seems like I'd better get on that or I'll miss out on this like I did Bioshock... still haven't played that one.

just done 7 hrs straight on it lol, man this is one addictive game, think im on chapter 20 now, if it was my day off i would have played straight through lol!! Definately playing through this one again! Lots of jaw dropping moments!! Im a bit fed up of something crumbling all the time making Drake Dangle for a moment or 2 im either tired or it seems to be every few minutes lol!!

Just hit chapter 9 and took some time off the campaign to do some multiplayer. Tried co-op for the first time. Very repetitive -- it's really nothing more than wave after wave of enemies -- but fun! Seems like a really good way to level up and rake in the UC$ too.

Back to SP. They've REALLY upped the ante on hiding the treasures. After ch4 I've hardly found any, and I do look. Much harder to find them than in Drake's Fortune.

Hey Guitarrasdeamor, that's not so bad if you're just starting out, a bit of bad luck with the matching is all. KDR > 1 is all good.
