U.S. Internet Speeds Causing Digital Divide?

Correct. The majority of people I know all subscribe to the basic internet bundled package. There's still a tier or two above that's faster.

$30 (iPhone Data Plan)
CA

This is through tethered to my iPhone, its what I use during the day. I'll post later my speeds from my home cable connection which are quite a bit faster.

$55 (middle grade)
Cox Cable Internet

This is from home, I really want to switch a faster wireless internet provider.

BTW, no U-verse or Fios in Cincinnati - only Cinci Bell DSL and Time Warner

What doesn't seem to be talked about in this report, is how many people are using a slower internet connection than is available to them.

Yup. If I paid 20€ more and used another ISP I'd have a gigabit connection, 10€ more for 100 mbit with the current folks, but that's not going to help slow routers and bad nodes between me and where I want to exchange traffic on the internet.

Was better before everybody started with p2p, I could play lagfree 56k software-modem counter-strike over the atlantic.

Time Warner Roadrunner
6mbs + "Turbo" down
??? up
I pay for All there Best package, Phone, Internet and Digital Cable, DVR w/ Movie channels : $150

Supposed to be like $60 a month but part of a package so it's cheaper ($50 I think)
Supposed to be 25/15 but this is what I got right now:

$40/month w/ cable package, advertised as 10/1. They have a 30/2 package available, but they want $80/month for it.

Delhi Telephone Company - Delhi, NY

I live in Lyle, Washington.

Youtube seems to load really slowly for some reason.

The internet is awesome. The end.

KDDI Speed Test results

Embarq's version of broadband for rural communities. 15 miles from me either way they offer 10 mb service. They don't want to build a station to link the 2 fast internets because we aren't as densely populated. There is fiber optic from Embarq 200 feet from my house at the elementary school, but they say the expense of running me a line is too much. I offered to pay for the line and all. No can do.

sigh

Cox Communications Home Service
Las Vegas
$160 with TV and everything (~$60 for internet)

AT&T Fiber to the Premises
Macomb, MI
$55 for Internet only (12/1.5) I believe I can upgrade to 18/1.5 for $65/month

Silly me, I thought the US was founded on freedom, which would lead to real diversity. But..golly gee, everyone does not have the same internet speed. There ought to laws and a government agency to sort this out! Harrison Bergeron looks more like nonfiction every day.

what is the point of having fiber optic fios if there is cable internet that is faster and cheaper? isn't fiber optic meant for gig speeds? my cable internet is twice as fast as people with fiber wtf

Just moved to Yigo, Guam and...

$66 a month nets me 2500kbps down. $100 will get me 7000kbps. These prices for these speeds kill me, but I'll probably bite the bullet and up it next month.
