I've got some fond memories of my last days on dial-up too, when I went to college two hours from home... Almost everyone on that college town had cable interent but for some reason a minuscule chunk of my street couldn't get it. That dial-up connection was the most rock-solid dial-up connection I've seen my entire life, I went for a couple two-week stretches where it was never disconnected, it was amazing. I mean, it was still dial-up, but it was impressive for dial-up, heh.
