Thats pretty much why all laws exist, welcome to reality. So, we need to pass new regulations because a small subset of truck drivers are stupid?

There are limits, or were you unaware?
This thread is full of idiocy.
Unless you can drive a 10spd(or more) split range nonsynco transmission, and have graduated to float from DCing, you should kindly shut the fuck up because you have ZERO clue about what you're talking about when it comes to driving a 40T+ CMV and dealing with the idiots on four wheels.
Fact is- speed differentials are the most common causes of big truck/four-wheeler accidents.
Fact is- four-wheelers are fucking idiots around big trucks
Fact is- four-wheelers are the ones found primarily at fault in big truck/four-wheeler accidents.
Not sure a gif of multiple people literally dying is really appropriate or adds anything to the conversation here.

That's fine. Lobby to get the speed limits changed. Nothing wrong with that. But don't pretend that you have some magical right to break the law just because you think you know better than it.
Just because you drove a truck in the seventies doesn't make you automatically right, so do you care to add some actual arguments or are you just trying to brag? That would have to be a first though that someone brags about being a lorry driver.
But when I stopped driving in 2011, my Kenworth had a 550 HP 3406E Caterpillar.
And the Cat made life on the road much easer for the driver.
One of the fundamental functions of government is to save people from each other.
There are lots of places in the US where trucks have a lower speed limit than the rest of the vehicles.

So their latest crusade for "safety" boils down to speed, but only for commercial vehicles because apparently only truck drivers speed. People driving Tahoe's, Civics, Corvettes, and Jeeps are all law abiding citizens who never ever go over that limit I guess.
They would cap the speed of all vehicles if they could. They can't. Such a regulation would get people voted out of office, and there would be massive nationwide protests and action against it.
They're doing it to commercial vehicles because it's a more highly regulated industry and they have the political capital to do so. It's possible. Capping all vehicles is not, at this time.
Ah look they just posted an article backing up what I said. Speed limits: Tried and true, or invalid?

Are you really going to use that article to justify breaking the law? Lol. I'm not saying the posted speed limit is the greatest. Perhaps it should very well be changed, but that does not give you the right to break the law just because you think it doesn't fit you.
Is it really breaking the law if the posted speed limits are artificially low because the city or twsp didn't follow the law and do a speed survey? You really haven't thought this through have you? There is an example of a judge throwing out a case in there because the city didn't do their job. The judge agreed with his lawyer no law was broken, because the speed limit was set artificially low. I really hope you aren't as dense as your posts suggest.
Well you can continue to break the law all you want of course. I just hope you don't get upset when the cops pull you over and do their jobs, because that wouldn't be fair to them.
I guess you are dense. If the speed limits are artificially low that is not what the limit really is. Sorry you don't want to understand plain English.
That is the stupidest live of reasoning I have ever heard.I guess you are dense. If the speed limits are artificially low that is not what the limit really is. Sorry you don't want to understand plain English.

Regardless of why it's low if that's the played limit that is the law, period, end of discussion. Whatever bullshit you use to justify breaking that law is just that... Bullshit...
Sounds like a good line to use with the cop when you get pulled over. Try it out and let us know how that goes for you.
Why are you so mad? Sorry you can't understand cities have to follow laws also. If their intentionally low speed limits are illegal you are not breaking the law. There have been a number of cases that have been thrown out of court and some of those cases have forced the cities to do speed surveys. Some of those surveys have rose the speed limits by 20 mph.
The cities hate losing the revenue when the speed limit goes from 25mph to 45mph.
Merica; Gotta go fastHow is this still not a thing in the US? I'm baffled. I knew the US was lagging behind the EU in some issues, but I never thought that it was by twenty fucking years.
That'd make sense, if we actually built up our railway system like japan or some other countries...either that or reserve the roadways mostly for cargo. We should go back to trains for hauling all our material possessions.
Yeah it does suck, we should fix that, sounds like a great way to put people to work as well. That'd make sense, if we actually built up our railway system like japan or some other countries...either that or reserve the roadways mostly for cargo.
Unfortunately, our railway system is rather lacking and (while still used and useful) not as good as it could have been.
We should go back to trains for hauling all our material possessions.
Which vehicles on the list does the federal government not have the right to regulate?
I used to live a few miles from a truck stop in OKC. It seemed like once a month or so a car would drive right up from behind, and then under a trailer as the truck made a left onto I40. I am sure the car was usually totaled from those under 5mph accidents too. Hard not to be when your front end is crushed. These were due 100% to the stupidity of the car drivers.
Stay away from trucks is my motto. If I am going to pass, I pass quickly and get it done. If I can't pass, I hang back. In short, I give those things space.

LOL @ trucker logic.
Knows all the lingo and acronyms, must be an expert.
You are the one not understanding how law works. You follow the posted law, period. If you think its wrong you bring it up to the city council, county or state whatever you do NOT get the right to break that law. No bullshit 6th grade reasoning can change that fact.
Drove big truck for over four years. Dealt with dumb asses on four wheels.
Expert? Nope. More knowledgeable than you? Yup.
