I am currently using a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer and its been a great mouse for comfort and lasting battery life, however when playing games such as battlefield1942 it is sort of lacking, while it is good with fast motions its terrible with slow small distance percision motions (eg headdshot sniping). So I have thought about a new mouse, namely the logitech mx510 since I hear it is an excellent gaming mouse. But here is my problem I absolutely will not go back to a corded mouse for webbrowsing and everyday computer use, however for gaming I would like to be able to quickly switch to the MX510 before loading up the game. Since they are USB I could probely just unplug one and plug the other one in, buts thats pretty ghetto fabulous if you ask me, so what I need to know is can I have both hooked up at once, and use some sort of software based switch to turn on each mouse?

Any suggestions or stories of personal experience in this matter would be great,

I don't know about using two USB mice at the same time, but using an USB and a PS2 one works just fine.

I'd say, just plug it in and see what happens :)

yes, ^^^^^ thats true. in fact i am using a ps2 and usb mouse right now. and it works!

You shouldn't have any problems with two mice on the same computer, even wireless and USB. Actually, I'm sitting at a computer right now that has two mice, and I could add more without any problems. As long as the two wireless mice can be on different frequencies, you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks for the input everyone, I just wanted to make sure before I go out and buy one. Going to pick up a mx510 on my next day off.

Yep no problems here, running an Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse 1.0, and a Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0A. Works like a charm. I have the corded mouse in the Ps/2 port btw

I'm not entirely sure on your mouse selections, but I know that my friend's MX-700 and Microsoft Intellimouse Optical work together just fine. I hate the MX 700, so I just happen to move his mouse aside and use his Optical hooked up to it when I choose.

I'm fairly certain that it would work.

USB user here.....

Both my Microsoft and Logitech mice work fine.
Both are USB

I added 2 more just to test...total of 4 mice....

All work fine...

plug and play!

I've had a mouse and my trackball hooked up at the same time forever. I use the mouse for normal browsing stuff and use my trackball for gaming. The MX700 is USB and the Trackman Marble+ is PS/2 and I've never had a problem except for a couple of versions of mouseware causing my trackball to go nuts when gaming. Several versions of mouseware have come out since then and I've had no problems since.

My combo is a Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 for most stuff, Razer Boomslang for gaming, switching back and forth is easy: I set the one i'm not using on it's back and just use the other one, both are USB

possibly the same also applies to PS2 and serial

I have a PS2 I normally use and my 5 button mouse via the Intous graphics tablet which is serial
