Total War: Shogun 2 @ Amazon

$10 off.

I already bought this on steam for $50, so I don't know if you could use amazons DL code on steam.

EDIT: As Dion mentioned, you can use this on steam!

Awesome, I'm in for one. Thanks :)

And yes, all games that are "Steam Works" will work on steam. (there's a list on wikipedia of all steam works games, just look up steamworks) I am pretty sure all you do is enter the CDKEY that any website gives you into steam and it combines it with your steam account.

Check first though, as games that ARE NOT steamworks from amazon will not work on steam. I don't think there is too many.

also you can get the same deal on direct2drive using the promocode hangover (20% off any game)

does anyoen know how to get the key off amazon, i bought it but it says i have to "download" it to get the key.

It says "Please complete a download to view the keys." :(
The download speed from Amazon is super slow.

Awesome, does the digital version come with the limited edition content?

I bit. Thanks OP!

Hmm... I'm in the same boat as some of the others. I started the download, yet the key does not appear in my amazon software library. The view product key is grayed out and below it states to complete a download to view the keys.

They must have changed it because when I purchased it the key showed up in my library after about 10 minutes without having to start their downloader.

No the digital download is the standard version of the game. I would recommend the NewEgg deal since more content for the same $$$ is always good.

i bet they did it so people wouldn't just use the steam download service.. I let it go and the download speed finally picked up to 1.4Mb/s and only took a couple of hours to download.

The positive thing is that the installer works with steam as well. So, you don't need to redownload much to make it compatible with Steam. :D

Put your hard earned money on this game rather then Crysis 2 if you had to choose.

boxed limited edition for $39 on newegg with a coupon EMCKGJE36
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832203034

I'm getting "Although you've entered a valid promo code EMCKGJE36, your order does not currently meet the code's usage criteria."

Anyone else trying this? I'd like to pick this up.

EDIT: Ah, it is out of stock, that may have something to do with it.

EDIT2: OP's link shows up as $49.95 for me. Man, no luck today.

code expired. The amazon link points to both limited (physical cd) version and regular download one. Choose the download one for $40 price

amazon has this offer
Download Now, Receive $15 in Amazon.com Credit
Purchase the digital download version of this game and receive $15 in Amazon.com credit to be used on a future video game or video game download. The promotional code will be emailed to you after purchase. Instructions for redemption will be included in the email. Limit one per household. Amazon reserves the right to change or terminate this promotion at any time

*Update*

PC download price went down to $42.88 and still gives the $15 promotional credit!

has any1 tried to get em to honor $15 credit for boxed copy?

No, but the odds are pretty much nil - everything about the promo mentions 'download version.'

$28ish for the download version is kind of a screaming deal for this, though!

@PeeWeePee
You shouldn't be having a problem with getting the $15 credit for the boxed copy. I still see the promotion listed on both retail physical copy and digital download when selecting each one. If you were referring to promotional code being emailed after the purchase, I think Amazon should have changed their statement to say they'll email you stating $15 credit has been credited to your Amazon account for future game purchases, not a code being emailed to you.

@xsoulbrothax

This is what I got from the promo listed on the Amazon page for Shogun 2 on both digital and PC physical copy.

"Download Now, Receive $15 in Amazon.com Credit
Purchase the digital download version of this game and receive $15 in Amazon.com credit to be used on a future video game or video game download. "

It does go on to say that the promotional code will be emailed after purchase, but upon my purchase, what I got in my email was that my Amazon account received a $15 credit I wasn't issued out a promotional code. So as soon as I tried to add something to my cart (tested with just adding Crysis 2 physical copy), upon checkout, it listed the price of the Crysis 2 game, the shipping, and the $15 promo credit subtracting from the subtotal.

No. The credit is only for the DIGITAL DOWNLOAD version. They put the notification of the credit on the box copy webpage as well because they want to persuade you to buy the digital download instead.

Yeah, that was what I was basing what I said off of. Also when I hit the 'see all titles this applies to' button, it brings up a page of Amazon DL-stuff.

Kinda related, Crysis 2 is on there for $52 - $15 credit. $37's not too far off of the D2D price from before... though this not being Steamworks, I'm kind of gunshy on Amazon's service here without any personal experience.

Sorry about that, my mistake guys. I must be going senile!!! >.<

Amazon is really pushing for the digital download. I guess it's fine if one's aim is to get it registered to their steam account without having to pay the steam store's price of $49.99.

@xsoulbrothax

Yea, Crysis 2 looks to be a pretty good deal too but sadly can't be registered to your steam account. So far I've only purchased 2 digital download games off of Amazon of which were steamworks games, so I'm in the same boat as you, iffy on Amazon's digital download service.

How do you use the 15credit? I am not seeing it in an email or in my account.

Ok yea mine isn't applying. I click on buy and download and the 15dollars isn't being applied. I don't really see anywhere to add it either. Guess I have to email them about

you get $15 credit after your purchase
so you still have to pay full price for shogun 2
