I have this media server, running RAIDZ for all sort of data storage. And one lonely WD black for OS. I do not recall ever replacing this OS drive, it shows 83180 hours of power on. My last routine check revealed it now has 92 reallocated sectors. Brrr ... preparing new drive right now. Hats off, WD. 83+ thousand of hours is some achievement, nine and half years. Wondering how long it would run if I left it in ...

I have user home directories on NFS, so I couldn't replace the drive when users were active. Woke up early this morning and replaced it.
Here is proof hard drives work well and last long if kept always spinning. 590 spindowns during 83203 hours of service.

Here's a WD 640GB drive from before they did the color coding. This model ended up being the first Blue drive, though.
Also a Hitachi 1TB I've had running quite a while.
Amazingly I have a Seagate 320GB drive which isn't currently hooked up but has even longer power on time. I think I got the single unicorn Seagate drive in existence.
