Tiger Direct makes me sad

My P5Q Pro Turbo started acting up recently so I decided to upgrade.

Went to Tiger Direct on the 13th and ordered all the parts I needed to build a new computer and they started shipping parts to me

Everything except the RAM, that is.

Their site said the RAM was in stock and, in quotes, said the following:

"Order Today, Ships Today"

When it didn't ship, I called them last week. I was told they were out of stock and due to receive some soon. I asked when "soon" was and they said they could not give me a definitive date for an answer but that Next week looked good.

I checked the site again that day and looked up the part number and the page had been updated to say "Ships in 5-14 days".

The next week (day before yesterday) I called back and asked if they had received any stock of the RAM and they said they were now expecting some the next week.

I then received another email notice saying the RAM was on back order and would ship soon.

I went back to the site today and looked up the part number again and now it says the part is no longer offfered...

I called them back and they transferred me to the automated voice maze system.

So...now it looks like I'm never going to get the RAM I ordered. Oh...and because it's taken 2 weeks to discover that fact, 2 weeks of my "30 day guarantee" warranty has lapsed on all the rest of the parts without any means to verify if they do, indeed, work.

Did you pay by credit card?

If so, dispute the entire charge. Explain to your bank/CC company that the order was incomplete, that TigerDirect promised to ship the missing part and it is now two weeks later, now the said item is no longer available (you can add in the part about verifying the item was in stock when you ordered it as well). Advise the bank that TigerDirect seems to have no intentions of fulfilling the order and you have advised TigerDirect to arrange for pickup of their merchandise as the whole order goes together. Then call Tigerdirect and tell them they can send USP/FedEx/whatever out to pick up their parts at their expense. They dicked you around with the "soon, we promise" game.

If TigerDirect doesn't like it, too bad, tell them they can go F****** pound sand, you aren't shipping back their incomplete order on your dollar.

If you didn't pay by CC, sucks to be you.

Edit: added a bit more for clarification.

You should ask Tigerdirect to cancel the order and ask for a full refund if they haven't shipped. If they did somehow then ask for the tracking number. I don't shop at tigerdirect much anymore since newegg and amazon tend to have better deals, but they definitely should be more reliable.

Unless you got really good prices on the rest I would call them & tell them that without the ram you dont need the rest so you would like to return it on there dime since they are the ones that did not fulfill your order.. Then order your parts somewhere else..

If the situation is really dire, you could even contact Tiger Direct and say that if your money is not refunded you will be contacting the BBB.

For those who stated I should cancel my order if it hasn't shipped...if you'll re-read the first post, you can see where I say they already started shipping stuff to me. By the time I made that post, I already had everything except the H70 and RAM. The Order was placed on Wednesday the 12th and I had everything that week (Friday the 14th). Not shabby for processing and shipping. No reason to complain there...

They emailed me to say the H70 was delayed a week, and it shipped out on the 20th overnighted to me, and I received it last Friday.

Granted, the item page stated "Order Today, Ships Today", but I'm not all that ticked off about the H70 since I "could" have had an operational system using the Stock Heat Sink...

I would not have shipped everything back to them as I have the entire computer assembled, minus only the RAM...

I did check for RAM at other places such as Directron, Amazon and Newegg.

Directron is NOT the place to go to order stuff "quickly". I've never had any order processed, and shipped, in less than 2 weeks. Ever. That includes the times I called to verify a part was in stock, and ordered over the phone within 5 minutes of the store opening up in the morning with an established account so they don't have to go through the process of verifying I am who I say I am...They are slow. Good, but slow...

Amazon has the same "timeframe" for payment processing and shipment of the RAM (4-7 days before shipping) so they're no faster than letting Tiger complete the order

As for Newegg, whom I've already sworn never to order from again, they do not have that particular RAM in stock either. The "lead time" for that item from newegg is no different than that listed for Tiger (at least before Tiger updated the page to say they no longer offer it).

It isn't like I can call Tiger and say, "forget the RAM. I'll get it elsewere" and actually get it in less time than it would take to allow Tiger to finish processing the order.

As it stands, it actually faster to let Tiger do their stuff than it would be to cancel the order and place a new one somewhere else. It would also be cheaper...

I just have to man up for this order, and do my future ordering elsewhere...

It would not be out of the realm to contact Tiger and get in email that the 30 day direct replacement starts when your whole order if filled. So if it takes them another 2 weeks to get the ram out to you, then your 30 days starts then.

One person told me once that a registered letter expressing what they did wrong, and what you want saying if they don't agree you will take them to court, quite often gets the results that you need.
