Yea thankfully there's an easy solution - swap it out with a g92 8800GTS in another pc.
Does Windows7 have the same 5 GPU limitation?
Unfortunately for the community, I'm short on time, and have the aformentioned easy way out that will probably win my voteSince it is off the same vista core...... I would highly suspect it does....
You can give it a try and report back![]()
Do you prefer dual PSUs because you can get better power to the GPUs?Ah you guys are awesome, thanks for the links. I'm going to get one of those cables from FrozenCPU.com and use it. I ordered the parts for another shelf today except for the four GPUs. This time I bought two 750W power supplies and I'm going to try the dual PSU setup. It's cheaper than a single large PSU and I can get single 12V rails this way. Looks promising but I'll update here and in my blog.
Totally understand and agree with all your reasons, especially the issue with cost. I went through similar deliberations recently, but in my case it wasn't an issue with multiple GPUs, but a motherboard configuration. I didn't feel like spending nearly $400 on a single very high-end PSU just to get an additional motherboard connector.APOLLO,
I ordered duals for a couple of reasons. Newegg has deactivated the Cooler Master 1250W supply that I've been using, plus we've had a pretty vigorous discussion of whether or not two supplies would work better for a high wattage system like mine over on the Folding@Home forums... I'm curious about it.
My plan at the moment is to put two GTX295s and the motherboard on one PSU and two GTX295s and the HDD on the other PSU.
Plus two good 750s is cheaper than one good 1250.
