Guess that means the majority of Hardforum members prefer the better processor... I don't think anyone will be apologizing for that.

not really its just you intel snobs cant keep the flame away from the amd forum why post in a forum if your going to be slammed for your decision with your own money by people that could be classified as opinionated uptight fanboys

Or they all bailed because threads turn out like this. It gets old. A lot of guys own both amd and Intel, just because we are enthusiests, and its fun to push new hardware to the edge, no matter the flavor. People stop posting when they know they will be ridiculed.

you are correct the thread derailing in this forum is remarkable rarely threads in this forum are kept on topic and the op suffers and the community suffers cause of this

Like what? AMD owners getting upset and the truth?

As far as [H] not putting AMD in a good light... I wonder why that is? They are hardly any cheaper, they certainly don't perform better, consume about double the power... What silver lining do you see here that you'd like [H] to roll with in their reviews???

You're slamming [H] for their decisions and what they do with their funds, despite it being AMD's fault for not releasing a product a reputable reviewer would get behind.

To me, thread crapping is when there is an OP with good information and/or a good information request about AMD processors and when the original intent of the original post is turned into an Intel vs. AMD debate. This pretty much gets old very fast.

If AMD did not exist, we wouldn't even have a CPU choice, and prices for CPUs would be higher across the board from the low-end to the top. Also, in terms of architecture and profitability, the profits and thus focus for both companies starts at the data center level and trickles down to the consumer level. Try to price a 2p or 4p CPU, mobo, and de rigeur ECC RAM and the PSU and enclosure to drive it, and you'll understand that the consumer market is very sensitive to small price points as opposed to the data center market.

Both companies make good products and it's almost funny that the anti-AMD thread crappers feel the need to hijack posts in this forum. But, I do speak against the practice of the as it dilutes the intent of the OP.

the reason for this is cause all the intel snobs drove off all the amd enthusiasts...
Sorry Maxius, but I'm pretty sure AMD did that one on their own..

I don't understand why people care about a discussion between the two brands. You can say Intel sucks, Microsoft sucks, Apple sucks, and I wouldn't get my panties in a wad. I'm not married to the company, could care less what other people say on a forum. Doesn't mean I won't want to engage them in debate, but people take things very personally in this forum. It's almost like the Apple cult mentality protecting the brand.

True.

It's the thread crappers/trolls that are the problem. Hijacking the intent of the OP is an act of cowardice as opposed to just making an "AMD sucks" OP of their own.

That's not the point, I'm with you, I could give a damn less what's in my rig, its just a machine. The point is every time someone mentions amd, within a few posts some jackass has to open their yap and bash. Offer some actual insight! The op has an amd chip in his rig, with a problem, think he wants to hear the same old song and dance again?

You have to remember the name of this place [H]ard'intel'Forum. Plus most of the intel fanatics are mad because AMD is rulling in the folding dept.

Like others said, if there was no AMD (which I pray will never happen) then everyone will suffer... Even the Intel fanboys.
Just picture this: Without AMD, Intel will charge a buyer $1000 or more for the lowest grade i3-equivalent, not to mention $3000+ for an i7...

I just don't see the point of the constant abuse we AMD users receive from Intel'ers just because we use an AMD... So what if an 8350 performs like an i5 in benchmarks? What if we just don't want to pay $1000 for a 3960X which is loaded with many features that we don't even need (HD4000 anyone)?

Like was stated before, all of the people who troll AMD threads are just cowards that would rather trash AMD (for whatever reasons, legit or not) through comments on someone else's thread rather than just start their own "AMD SUCKS" threads.

No, Intel would not charge those prices. Intel would kill ALL of it's business if it drastically raised prices. Nor would there be a world where Intel did not continue to develop new processors because they would need to put out new products for people to buy. That said, I agree that we need more than one company doing desktop CPUs. It's just too bad that AMD can only compete in terms of price.

What are you basing these figures on? I mean... Besides, absolutely nothing, what are you basing it on? Please link some data to back up your claims.

Intel 386SX system I purchased back in 1991 or 1992 when I was in college was $4,500. The DX if I remember correctly was nearly a grand more. You know back when AMD was a blip on Intel's arse. You're seem pretty smart. What would that cost today taking inflation into consideration?

So, let me get this straight. You think the pricing was because AMD wasn't around and not because the condition of the market at the time? You realize computers were luxury items back then right? If you really think your 386 pricing was because AMD wasn't around, you should make good on your promise a few posts back and leave the forum. The less ridiculousness here the better.

Intel CPU's were more expensive than they are now even back when AMD, VIA AND Cyrix were making CPU's... So how does that work, exactly?

A little refresher:

I have left the forum. I'm enjoying trolling like you like to do also. Doesn't it feel good to know you have a partner in life?

And what does 2003 pricing have to do with 1991 pricing? My roommate in 1992 had a NextStep that cost $19,000+ before tax. Computers weren't luxury items when I was in college. Either you had one in your dorm or you went to pray for a open spot in the computer lab. If you didn't do your work on it you failed as all of your classwork was on it. You know. Kinda like today.

Just looked and wandered off. What good is some random dude's benches to me? I don't know the reviewer, I don't trust the reviewer, so the review is utterly worthless to me. I do like his beard though.

lol. yea, fuck data, who wants to listen to that crap right? lets keep getting our info from one source, maybe two, and lets pick the ones that make us feel the best. what the hell happened to this place? no offense, but its a good video review, and worth the time. granted not a lot of games are covered, but the point is made. its popping up more and more now that people are actually buying vishera. its not as bad as its made out to be, and does kick ass in some areas. the major downfall of it imo is the major power consumption, hence extreme cooling is needed to overclock the mother.

Hm? I don't trust reviewers I don't know. It's as simple as that. I don't feel like spending hours watching his videos right now to decide what I think about him.

Exactly.

To make you feel better I put it on my watch later list. Watching a couple other things right now and maybe after that I'll look into it and the reviewer. Maybe.

I linked it not because I was trying to get you to trust his review. I linked it so that you could get a different take on what AMD FX 8000 series owners have been trying to get through to others. The chips aren't as bad as made out to be when you use them to do really fun things such as playing games and streaming to Twitch.tv. It's a real fun hobby and my AMD chip is excellent with it as the streaming app's load on my CPU is negligible. My friend's Intel chip 3570 has a pretty decent drop in frame rate but my AMD laughs at it.

Of course the Intel starts out with a little bit faster frames when just gaming. But when I want to multitask my AMD doesn't bat an eyelash. Intel users that I game with talk of "I should have gotten a 6 core instead of this 3570K" when I start discussing streaming with them. My stream looks just as good as their stream, isn't choppy, runs great, and no problems. I can't ask for much more than satisfaction can I?

Or are the AMD users wrong yet again?

Well thank you for being open minded. Many kudos to you and if you find holes in his reviews please feel free to tell us. I was just linking something that caught my eye that was very similar to the results I was getting.

+10
Yeah, why don't we all just choose one source for all our information? That way we'll all be on the same page, right?

And then when that source tells us all to, say, all jump off the Empire State Building, we all will.

all right everyone chill out, have a beer, after all we might not be able to argue about these sorts of things in a few years. who knows, right?

It's going to be an interesting/potentially scary next few years for the consumer desktop market that is for sure.

What does 2003 pricing have to do with 91? You said the pricing in 91 was due to AMD not being around (lack of competition) I'm showing you pricing from 2003 that's more expensive than they are today even though back in 2003 Intel had MORE competition (from AMD/VIA/Cyrix)

Considering you have failed to see the correlation, rejected reality and substituted your own, (perfect example in post #105) I can see how you would think I failed my classes. ;) and you're still here.

When did I say you failed your classes? For all I know you're still in school as you surely act like it. Now what I was saying was that in 1991 Intel ruled everything. If Intel was an elephant then AMD, Cyrix, Via combined had the market share equivalent to a pimple on an elephant's ass. That's what I was trying to correlate to you.

Do you comprehend now?

The market supported those prices at the time (and yes, computers were a luxury item, as was broadband) the market would not support those prices today. with OR without AMD. If you think it would, you should go BACK to school and take an economics class or two. Competition is one factor that can influence pricing, it is not the only factor. Would prices increase without AMD? Sure, they may. Would they increase to the ridiculous level that was mentioned previously, that you apparently agree with? Absolutely not.

BTW, you're more active now then before you said you were going to leave, but thats to be expected, not much of what you claim is what I'd call "accurate" ;)

That single threaded POS that is spaghetti threaded from one of the Quake games doesn't even deserve a chart. Come again please.

No way dude. It says overall. And it's on youtube, so it has to be true. Video doesn't lie.

Well it came with such a great looking chart I guess it must be what you Intel fanboys call "journalism". Glad to see some of the sources of your knowledge. I'm absolutely, unequivocally, bowing in honor of your review's knowledgeable background. It should be on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.

And computers weren't a luxury if you went to college in 1991. Glad to see your true 12 year old colors shining through your facade. It's obvious that you don't know $hit, never knew $hit, and will never know $hit about a PC.

Not being mean. Just telling it like it is. You're about as knowledgeable as the bots that copy and paste quotes from others onto these forums. Thank you for clearing this up for the rest of us who come here to seek knowledge; not speculation.

I dont think you're being mean, i think you just don't know what you're talking about. Remember what I said earlier about the accuracy of your claims? ;)

Lets recap:

1) You think Intels lowest end processor is going to cost $1000 without AMD around
2) You think the average person back in 1991 could just slap over 4k down on a computer

I could eat a bowl of alphabet soup and shit something more intelligent than that. You're too dense to even realize you're being trolled with that YouTube video.
