Just spoke with a Platinum Micro representative about an ETA for the "THERMALRIGHT 1156 BOLT-THRU-KIT." He put me on hold to call Thermalright... The news is pretty bad - they told him the wait should be between four to six weeks. Ouch!

Ok here is an update, I just called Thermalright and the representative told me that they are getting a few kits in next week, and that those would probably end up at frozencpu and heatsinkfactory first. She said after that first small shipment it would be at least another three weeks before any retailers received any more. I hope this helps.

Wonder if this will work with a Scythe Ninja as the 775 bolt thru did. Otherwise I'll have to search around for a new 1156 heatsink. Doesn't seem to be too many available right now.

3 more weeks? Why Thermalright, why. I'm probably going to just buy a different brand and just get something new. I have a 4 pipe Ultra so I'm not sure how well it would work with the 1156 chips anyways.

Heatsinkfactory sent me an "in stock notice" on 9/22, I went to the site 5 minutes later and they were sold out. I emailed them back and they said they only got 25 kits and they sold out really fast. Expected more "soon"

ugh.

I am wondering what to choose at this point with all the delays on mounting kits for most of the popular heatsinks.

I really wonder why everyone seems to be so behind on these. Its not like the CPUs weren't delayed and the dimensions were out there for a long time.

In this economy I don't understand why they would leave money on the table like that.

yeah I never understood the need to wait till after the boards hit the market. Does thermalright really not get any info on the mounting bracket for new sockets before release? I kinda doubt that.

They make more money selling a new heatsink versus the adapter kit. If it takes a little longer for the adapter kit to come out, some people might just give up waiting. Or other people might not even realize it's possible to get adapter kits if they don't see it on the shelf.

Not saying that's what Thermalright is necessarily doing, but just a couple thoughts.

What new heatsink options are READILY available at non-assrape prices? The i5 cooling selection is fucking terrible.

I don't see a problem with only a couple of options. Noctua will give you a free 1156 kit.
Coolermaster Hyper 212+ is readily available for <$30 and I'm at 3.8Ghz stable 60c full load.

For me, a $30 hsf and OC to 4.0Ghz is awesome. There's nothing to complain about.

I'm also slowly leaning towards saying goodbye to my TRUE 120 Black. I'm using Noctua NH-C12P as reserve option (i had that cooler at home), but i'm thinking about replacing it with NH-U12P... Why can't be Thermalright like a Noctua, which had their kits out a week before Core i5 even started to be sold.

Yeah I just found this myself and bought it. But that's really the only decent option under $50. Most of them are insanely priced $70 beasts.

I don't know what options do you want. You have either the cheap ones, like AC Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2. Then you have those Hyper 212+ coolers, then Scythe with their pushpins (fugly) and at end of spectrum you have Noctua.

Nearly everyone have S1156 support except Thermalright. I still have a feeling that they fell asleep and at day of Core i5 7xx/i7 8xx release a TR manager called the development deparment and said "So guys, where is our Socket 1156 kit ? WHAT ? We have no one ? You guys have 2 days to make one..."

The Corsair H-50 will fit an i5 if the MB includes holes for a 775 socket cooler.

I'm not sure which MBs qualify but I got an H-50 from ZZF for 55.00 which makes it a pretty good option.

How would the Noctuca compare to the thermalright ultra and TRUE-120? Better, at par?

backwoords, there is NO mounting kits for Socket 1156 for Thermalright yet. It's on the page, but there are 0 pieces delivered to the shops. So the "side winder site" (whatever it is) can't have it. If you mean www.sidewindercomputers.com , then what a surprise, they have only S775 and S1366 kits, no S1156 kit.

I can't believe thermalright would do this on purpose. It makes no sense. Most people who already own thermalright products will not buy new ones just to get 1156 capability. They will just switch to a new brand and thermalright will lose whatever little money it would make on the bolt-thru kit, but most importantly they will lose brand loyalists and advocates.

Not true, a few sites list them

heatsinkfactory DID receive a shipment about 10 days ago, I got an email from the autonotify. I went to the site 5 minutes later, it was sold out. They told me they only got 25 pieces.

I emailed Thermalright earlier this morning asking if I could order direct from them. Waiting is getting tiring. They said no direct sales and all online retailers should've received shipment by now and "more are on the way from Taiwan"

I will probably just go get the cheapo Hyper 212+ from MicroCenter for $26. Why spend $9+ shipping on a bracket that I can't even find, for a company that doesn't seem to give a damn.

What is really annoying is that Platinum Micro (link above) lists it as $8.10 on their site but with no stock. Yet they are selling it for $20 on eBay. With free shipping the eBay price probably isn't too much more but there is certainly a huge shortage.

Unfortunately, not with Thermalright though.
"This kit can be used with Domino ALC, Freezone Elite, Boreas and Pure equipped with low-profile skive CPU block. "

I just went with an Asrock P55 Pro motherboard. Never tried Asrock before but I know they're owned by Asus so I'm hoping for near-Asus quality without the sticker shock. They're also the only brand besides eVGA to offer 775 mounting holes on all their P55 boards. Hoping to stick with my trusty old Xigmatek HDT-S1283, but we'll see.

So just 1 or 2 months for the rest of the world :(.
I ended up just buying a Hyper 212+
I only have an old Ultra-120A that I wanted to use but Thermalright is so damn slow I gave up on them. $10+ shipping for a bracket or $26 after tax picked up from MicroCenter for Hyper 212+ (sale last week).

I'm waiting... I have a Noctua NH-C12P, so i have a decent cooler, it's just simply a shame that nearly everyone have their socket 1156 coolers or kits already on market, and Thermalright have nothing (except those 55pcs on frozencpu).

Heck, i was even thinking about Mega Shadow for 69€, which (surprise, surprise) already have a S1156 kit.

I'm still waiting for Performance PCs or Sidewinder to carry the Thermalright 1156 bolt-thru-kit

What's wrong with frozencpu? Never had a bad experience with them personally..

Do they ship overseas ?

I'm a regular with Sidewinder and Performance PCs and they are excellent. Ordered over a hundred times over the past couple of years and they never failed me once.

Thanks a ton :) Ordered mine today along with my I5 750/mobo/5870.

Cannot wait to see what the TRUE-120 can do with the 750

Thanks. I've actually checked and they don't ship to Singapore.

Guess I'll just have to wait for those 2 to stock them. :(

Damn Thermalright... Order for my supplier was confirmed to arrive today to him, but Thermalright sent it to other customer (probably paid or ordered more) and i (and others in Slovakia, as this shop is the onlu one selling it here) must wait at least another week for that kit - if they didn't lied about the next date too. Not a nice thing to do, Thermalright.
