I'm going to get straight to the point here and let you console peasants know that Microsoft lied to you. Yes, they lied and you aren't going to get VR on the Xbox One for the foreseeable future. I know this is surprising and hard to believe that they would treat you that way, but they are. However, it's not all bad news that I have today and I'm happy to say to the PC master race that Microsoft believes the PC is a better platform for VR and they are going to fully support VR on the PC. Halo VR for the PC? Sign me up!
