The Xbox One is done

-.- did you even RTFA?

No, seriously, that is the dumbest thing you have done, just click that crap and you will see that it has links to NEOGAF, with PROVEN DEVELOPERS saying the 6GB deal, and it is a NEOGAF MOD the one who backs the source up.

There's already a hefty debate over Xbox One's graphical compatibilities. Today Microsoft announced that 10% of the GPU is reserved just for Kinect and snap mode. They already have a slower GPU due to 33% less shaders and slower memory, now you announce 10% of that won't even be accessible for games? Man, tough luck for Xbox fans.

Reading the article, it seems like a positive thing that the XO functions in this manner, "an early look at Xbox One's Dashboard was quite convincing: the ease of multitasking and the smoothness of switching between games and apps on Xbox One was appreciated." Of course, it's not ideal that one's gaming experience would be inferior as a result, "we plan to open up more options to developers to access this GPU reservation time while maintaining full system functionality." In any case, it makes me wonder how much resources (RAM, GPU, CPU, etc.) the PS4 reserves to run it's OS in the background.

The problem I have with laying everything on voice commands is what if I don't feel like yelling out a command and I would rather use the controller to do my bidding? From what I've seen through MS's own demos is that basically its pretty clunky as an interface WITHOUT any voice interaction.

I know from using Windows 8 that the Metro UI is not exactly perfect for K/M configurations (which is superior to that of a joystick as it shouldn't need to be said for such functions) and that it favors a touchscreen period.

I'm still not sold on the idea of a 1080p camera with auto tracking and a solid built in mic facing me 24/7 as far as privacy goes. I hardly trust corporations like MS or Sony for that matter so I know some people claim it as paranoia but at least with the PS4 the interface is built around the controller and its usage over the camera and voice commands which I still prefer.

After playing with the PS4 all weekend I can safely admit that the overall feel and how well everything is put together is far beyond what I was expecting Sony to be capable of. For the longest time Sony was quite "Junior" when it came to their network and store experience compared to the Marketplace on Live. And now that Party chat is there and that I can use my phone (with the companion app for the PS4) to send messages and send voice messages I'm pretty impressed with how Sony finally got the picture that simply providing a baseline "network" for MP gaming is not enough. Its a total experience package.

The PS4 and the PSN have both really shown that Sony has matured as a console manufacturer and is ready to push a head with better hardware , a stellar network , some great first party exclusives and all at a $100 less than the competition.

I thought Crimson Dragon would do better. I wish Powerstar had online co-op or match play.

About what I expected those are all 20 dollar games that IGN has reviewed so far.
Killer instinct is the champ there.

I've been down on the XB1 a bit myself but in all fairness we just can't make calls yet about any new consoles being done.

I expect the XB1 sales to do well...no idea if they'll be "a million in 24 hours" or not. They might be.

I really think console only gamers have been starving for something new and that's the biggest reason for the PS4's robust sales.

I'll be surprised if I don't respectable/comparable numbers for the XB1 as well. These consoles are at least a year overdue IMHO and the demand is obviously there.

If I see a million XB1's sold in 24 hours that's just going to reinforce that point for me: People are really itching for something new.

Disappointing to see the low Crimson Dragon scores. Forza is the one game I really want, out of all the launch titles, though.

this thread was created in june. it wasnt too early then, and it isnt too early now. :p

The thread was for fun in light of the E3 news and the Wii U is done thread, I've always expected the One to do very well in North America.

They did a 180 which pretty much made this thread irrelevant a month after E3.

I would get one but that would be over 900.00+ spent on two systems with hardly any nice games.

I picked up a copy of Killzone for the PS4 to try on my days off can't wait....

Thanks to the amazon guys who picked up two copies I snagged one for 45.00 on ebay the best part is I can re-sell the game unlike most PC games.

Please tell me where to buy this Xbox 180.

More seriously, though, when a console is announced, what else are people going to talk about? And honestly, it gives people a chance to express their misgivings on a console and see whether or not they are addressed by the console's launch.

well in the last 8 years i went from an 18yo high schooler who wasnt allowed to own video games, to a broke college kid, to a successful engineer with money to burn (not really, but that's how i feel compared to 8 years ago). since i have money now, i was really excited to get my first console and followed all the news really closely to decide between xbone and ps4. in the end, i hated MS and xbone even though they did reverse most of their realy bad policies, and ps4 just doesnt have any games i want to play. im still following the news, hoping to get excited enough to buy a ps4, but so far it's been pretty easy to pass.

Sony does sometimes seem to get shafted on launch titles, but I'll be honest, I've had enough devices at launch to tell you that the launch of a system is not a good time to decide what console you want to buy. Buy a console at launch only if you were always going to buy that console no matter what.

yeah, i will probably buy a ps4 eventually. i hate preorders of anything, i think it is retarded to buy something without knowing anything about it, plus first editions of everything are buggy and expensive. i was just really hoping to get some of that launch day excitement this round. didnt happen.

sorry to hear about that. To me the best launch in a while was the ps1/n64 era. The whole gaming industry from arcades to pc to consoles was in a magical ecstatic state. That move to 3d was a game changer and every console release since that revolution has been more evolutionary.

Most of the numbers i'm seeing, both for Xbox One and PS4, are not surprising. I'm still waiting to see what Ryse and Forza look like though. My prediction is that Ryse will be similar to Killzone, really pretty, but otherwise generic. I'm thinking Forza will go neck and neck with Resogun for the highest rated next-gen launch title.

I still think Xbox One has the stronger launch lineup this year. Neither console appears spectacular, but MS seems to have hit more genre's at least, and they also have more full fledged exclusive (compared to PS4's indie stuff, which looks good, but doesn't exactly leave me foaming at the mouth for a new console).

It's got me in a real rut... the PS4 is a much better hardware package, but I'm much more drawn to the X1's launch lineup. Forza is more of a system seller than anything else so far, Ryse has my attention as a (hopefully) passable GOW clone, and Zoo Tycoon is a gigantic guilty pleasure that I really want more every time I see it in action, even though I know it's probably not very good.

Buy the console that has the most potential games between now and say 5 years from now to make its exclusives worth the system purchase.

That's really the best rule to go by. Consoles improve over time , they get cheaper , more reliable and if you wait a few years you'll generally get a better deal with more games to enjoy.

If your a day one gamer like me you'll deal with it and just buy. But the smart move without question is to wait til at least next years E3 where we will get a real and total picture of what to expect in the next 2-3 years from developers. I think that is probably the best time for now to help make up your mind.

I don't know what my plan is, but if I eventually get an Xbox One, I'll likely pick up Dead Rising 3. That's the only launch title that I like, but it's not nearly enough to get me to buy a console.

Wait calmly, both consoles will get a much bigger ammount of services up and running in the next 6months or so, plus most titles should be patched by that time too, so the actual gaming landscape should be better to judge what meets your fancy.

For example, DR3 pre patch looked like it had horrible frame issues with average fps being sub 20, but since they patched it, the frame rate got locked to 30fps except on the most extreme of cases.

Personally, i only hope that this doesn't become a standard for the life of the consoles, and instead becomes a sympton of launch time only.

A lot of these games started development long before tools and dev kits were mature. After the first few months, I don't think we will see many games get performance updates.

Mostly we'll end up seeing games with longer development cycles, not being so rushed to make the launch date, and that will be the biggest improvement.
