The top 10 Battleground Thread

The funny part is you should be shipping the equipment that I plan to unseat you with today :p

That is unless that spike yesterday is not a spike.

I have two EVGA GTX260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition cards sittin on my desk, now I just need a power supply so that I can finish their home. Maybe I can get them going before you take my PPD spot.

Do the Core 216 GTX260s pull any more power than the older GTX260s?

Well I'm hosed

Ordered a Corsair 750Watt PS, should be here next week sometime. Hopefully those two GTX260s will be folding by the end of next week.

Will be adding GX2 in a couple of days:D
Thank you, Mr. Lassiter!
And Thank me, x-mas gift to myself :p
That should keep the heat on, hopefully
off in the house. With 12 GPUs that should
heat a couple rooms.

Got a 8800GS and 8800GT Akimbo coming for me before the end of december which will hopefully allow me to grasp 50k ppd.

< OFF TOPIC - A CHALLENGE WERE ISSUED BY ME IN THE OS SUBFORUM >

Go and root for me?

I have my first 4850 crunching away.

I hope it gets some big units :D

I just looked at the stats... back to 8th place again...

Something must be done about this.

Well I've been pushed back down to 9th place.....

I hope the 2x 9800GT cards that just replaced 2 9600GSO are able to bring up the slack.

I have been thinking about replacing the 9600 GSOs I have too.
But seems like for the price difference I might go for the 9800 GTX
with 128 SP. Although looking at NE ATM I don't see any good deals
on the 9800 GTX. Should good a better ouput with this new WU with
128 SP.

I had a chance to pick up two 9800GT cards for $80 each. No rebates, new in box.

The battle is now more fiercer than ever. Just to get to the 10th position, it now require 45k ppd

Well, I've just dropped ~10k due to the new slower/bigger nVidia work-units.
So ~100k was nice nice while it lasted but it looks like it ~90k PpD from now on.

Luck ......... :D

I'm coming to get you guys. Been idle for a year or so....just decided it's cold enough in the labs that I can heat them up a bit over winter break. 45 Mac Pro's dually duals and Dually-quads online as of last friday. Their last 60 hrs of performance was pretty impressive.

Finally someone to keep Sunin and Tiger busy:cool:

I can rachet up more in the building to get second in PPD, but I don't think this whole building has enough computational balls to reach yours, ROC. My two mac labs are the 3 of my 4 "Draw Four" cards in my hand right now.

You gotta appreciate a good battle of epic proportions...

No matter how ya stack it, a battle amongst the titans is just [H]ard! :D

god damn you, i love a competition, but F*&K! Thats just insane. If i could manage to get some of my windows smp clients to get past 30-40% I *might* be able to stay in the top 30, but you sir, just brought a big plate of whoop ass to the table. damn

The key is to run the old client (v5) with the extended deadline executable. The old client doesn't give anyone problems from what I can tell. The only Windows SMP client I still have left is not running a v6 client. Otherwise, you will need to install Linux in a VM...

Yeah, i'm going to have to run the vm, which i have plenty of juice for. especially over periods like the holiday break. Servers just sit around doing nothing. hah, lonely servers no more!

F@H, its like matchmaker.com, only for servers. :p

Paper or plastic?

In the future neither are used. In fact, carts are not used. In April 2017, Jenna Bush's company, "GlobalAwesome", patents and markets an external girdle worn around the shopper. There are many pockets of various sizes and shapes, where items are placed while shopping. The pockets are translucent, and when checking out you stand on a large version of a lazy susan turntable device, whereupon you're spun around and laser barcode readers flicker around you intensely for about 7 seconds. You are then debited the proper Ameridollars.

You might think, "Why not RFID"? In 2015 all forms of RFID were found to cause moderate schizophrenia in women after prolonged exposure, and were henceforth banned.

More questions about the future?

Is XP still supported?

Great question, Celerator.

XP in it's future incarnation is still supported. Following on the heels of the cataclysmic failure of Windows Vista (known from 2010-onward as the Great Step Back) Windows 7 launched. However Microsoft decided not to launch at the 11th hour with the name "Windows 7". The launch title of Windows Extreme was chosen, somewhat surreptitiously. The GUI was more evolved than Vista, though not as convoluted. Prompts were humanized, from:

"Windows has detected a system change to: Wireless Network detected that is in your list of authorized networks to join, would you like to use the password already saved to join, which you will then be prompted to authorize and verify the legitimacy of the stored password"

Being changed to:

"Hey, you wanna join this, right? I've detected everything's cool with the connection".

Now's where history was really made. 2012 brought us the Great Week of War, between the two inhospitable glass oceans that were once known as Pakistan and India. With no more cheap labor to support or "verify serials via telephone". Within a record six weeks, a deal was hatched. Canada, with it's sagging economy and a decade-long drought of a-list comics being exported, offered to nationalize an industry of Customer Support for the tech giants.

A new type of patch was released the following month from Microsoft, known as a Full Service Pack, for Windows Extreme. The pack, which cost $99 dollars (Canadian), had far reaching ramifications, only a few of which I'll highlight below:

- By January 2013, all Canadian males over 18 were to either give 18 months of service to either the Military, or the Amicable Canadian Support Corps. With India turned to glass, and the rising French threat, most Canuck males chose the support corps.

- Customer satisfaction rose to an all-time high through most of the world. Strangely.

- The Canadians, with a whole slew of downtime in the winter between hockey and drinking, planned, tested, produced and released the Full Service Pack, known as "Windows Extreme, Professionally" (or "professional, eh" as those crafty canucks pronounced it).

- By 2014, the Canadians national pride had finally reared it's ugly head once again, and Canada proclaimed that it would henceforth support Windows ExP for as long as their great nation survived.

- Which was until the French invasion of 2016, when New France was formed directly above us. Not surprisingly, with Washington State always being referred to as "Oregon's Canada", Washington seceeded from the Union and was sold to New France for pennies on the Euro. Microsoft became the Canadian Department of Microsoft, and Starbucks finally began selling beer at all of its locations.

valhallaprime has kicked his way into #2 top producer! Time to step up a gear Sunin/Tiger;)

I had some parts return from RMA. So my total CPU count should hit 74.With these new WU's, hopefully I'll pump 350k+ PPD:D

Awesome, thanks for the heads up :D

I have no ideer what the "incarnation" stuff means, but as far as I can tell good ole' WinXP has been extended until 2010 (thanks IT Gods) I've never done VISTA and I thank the heavens I never did :D ATM I have 2x WinX32 and 1x WinXP64 and with the suspected EOL of WinXP I almost went to VISTA :(. From what I understand Win7 is not as bloated as VISTA, has a much smaller install "foot print" than VISTA and boots faster than VISTA. I don't have any and don't want any personal experience with VISTA.

Of course, these are only speculations and personal opinions, no one, and I repeat no one, (with the exception of the M$ programmers, the "higher upper muckity mucks" at M$ and maybe an occasional secretary having sex with his or her boss ), will know for sure untill the final version is released into the "wild". I think M$ is going to release a Win7 beta next month.

below are some of the many URL's I got from Yahoo.com by entering "WinXP extended support" ;)

Folding and WCGing for the CURE

I need to get home and see whats wrong with a boxen or 2. I don't even know if anything is wrong beyond FAHMon having and issue with a box or 2. I have to figure out a way to defend myself. I'm in danger of getting pushed out of the top 10.

Just noticed that I'm barely hanging in there in the Top 10 PPD. I'm about to be gone out of town for two weeks with nobody to watch the farm so i'm sure i'll be kicked out before I can do anything about upping my position. Come and get me while you can, gonna be returning with a vengence in February.

I haven't posted my farm config in a while so here:
2xEVGA GTX260(stock), 2xEVGA GTX260(oc'd core216), 1xGalaxy GTX260(oc'd core216), 1xQ6600@3.0GHz(linsmp), 1xQ9650@3.4GHz(linsmp), 1x2.5GHz Quad Phenom, 1x3.0GHz Quad Core Xeon, 1x2.13GHz Quad Core Xeon, and a few borgs.
