I'm guessing they had a lot of logging going on in the background.
Has to be alot if he dips in the single digit.
It's the only thing that scares me, large scale battle.

Gotta be a lot of logging to bring sandy bridge machines with 7970s and 580s to their knees.
I don't think the FPS issues need to be justified. Yes, we all know it's a beta. Yes, we all know it won't be like this when finished.
What does matter is that it's fun enough even for a cynic like Valsh to enjoy.
The only official claim is 2012, but summer is expected by many given that they've always said the public beta period would be fairly short. What is the approx release date of the game ? Summer ?
I'm not a cynic, I just hate shitty games.
So those of you guys that have played the beta, do you think I'll be able to run at max settings smoothly based on my rig in my sig? If not, do you think an upgrade to my VC will solve any frame rate issues? I'm trying not to have to upgrade to a motherboard, ram and cpu if possible.
Only if they fix the performance issues. It wasn't a matter of computer power as people with 980Xs, 7970s, and dual 580s were getting garbage FPS. They got some issues to work out.
Assuming they work these issues out, you don't feel this game is CPU dependent like WoW or BF3?
my understanding is structured pvp, gives you lvl 80 and ALL skills available at that lvl.
exactly whats gonna happen when, after a few hours of that, you go back to your lvl 14 whatever class and go back to 'grinding'...talk about a let down..sheesh !!!! i'm not sure i can deal with that..LOL
Weird... though i hope that gold gives SOME sort of combat advantage similar to WoW. You could buy shit, but only gear if people found BOE's and put them on the AH, but primarily you could "twink" your character out with enchants/upgrades/gems etc with gold, or buy lots of pots or the expensive flasks to pvp with.
Nothing yet! A lot of people are predicting a May-June release.is there a release date for this yet?
I'm pulling Guild Wars out again in anticipation of this; haven't played it in a while.

I don't think I like the direction MMO's are going.

I'd expect Summer based upon how Arenanet did the original GW beta stuff. I doubt they'll hold it back until fall.
I could see June-August.
You also have to look @ the competition. They will not want to launch up against the Panda expansion.
It must be pretty close to ready. They are opening up a beta in April that will allow everyone that pre-purchases the game in it. That could potentially be a lot of people. I mean, 1 million people signed up for the beta in 48 hours (I know that people used multiple email addresses but still). You have to have a lot of confidence in the game to open the beta like that. You could potentially have more people playing in this beta than a lot of MMO's have in total player base.
I assume MoP won't be out until late this year, unless there's been some announcement I am unaware of. If they don't want to go up against it, wouldn't that indicate they would want to release earlier than later?
The difference in GW2 is that there is no gear progression at 80. As I understand it, practically all level 80 gear has the same level of stats, the differences are basically cosmetic/stat choice, but not more stats.
This absolutely wont happen. When you go into the area for the team PVP games your character becomes level 80. So all PVP will be level 80, there are no twinks. You get all of the skills and you get a basic set of level 80 gear that can only be used in PVP. As you get "PVP points" (I'm not sure what they are actually called) you can purchase new gear but it will only look different. It will have the same stats as everyone else.
At first this seems odd but really it makes sense. Player skill is the deciding factor. You can't get an ego boost by just grinding out the best possible gear and face rolling everyone. You have to have skill.
Also, fun fact, in the WvWvW zone you get leveled to 80 but you keep your regular weapons, armor and skills. When you take over keeps and kill other players you actually gain experience and the players drop loot appropriate to your level. So you can actually completely level up just by playing in the WvWvW zone.
