MMO lovers unite. What MMO's have you guys played in the past, dropped out of life for, or even looking forward too?

I checked out Tera online today, that looks very promising. And I'm waiting to try and get into the Final Fantasy beta.

I have played to many of these types of games. Everquest, Everquest 2, Planetside, Vanguard, WoW, Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons, DAOC...
I'm sure I'm forgetting more

but let the discussion continue

Ragnarok Online is something I put like 2 years of my life into back in the day on both official and private servers. kek BR? etc.

Currently playing WoW waiting for Cata XPac while keeping an eye out for the Bioware Star Wars MMO.

Currently playing Lord of The Rings online......... having a good time. Seems to be a very mature bunch of people.

No more wow for me. deleted ALL my characters for good.

And i'll be sitting the current bunch coming mmo's out. for a while at least. been burnt too too too many times in the past. LOTRO is where i'm parking my keester for the foreseeable future.

I have been playing WoW since launch with some breaks here and there. I used to play DAoC, Star Wars Galaxies and Warhammer. Of those, I liked Warhammer the most. Such a terrible shame that they launched it about a year too soon and now it is dying a slow, sad death.

Runescape...going on 6 years and still playing :D
Guild Wars
Allods Online
DDO
Tried wow for a week

Guild Wars 2 looks pretty cool, along with the new Star Wars MMO.

Only played WoW, AoC, WaR and Aion, but I keep going back to AoC over any of the others.

StarWars Galaxies (pre-Jump to light speed)

Thinking over a Fallen Earth Trial. I watched a recent gamepkay vid and it looked pretty enjoyable.

I played SWG. Best MMO until they ruined it. I really think Bioware is going to make the new star wars mmo they're making exactly like WoW with it being dumbed down. That being said, I'm going to get it no matter what.

I HATED Guild Wars 1, but I will probably get #2

I've been playing WoW on and off since beta, currently not playing. I really got into EVE for a few months last year and plan of returning to that once I finish school in December. In the past I played FFXI, WAR, EQ2, and some others but WoW and EVE are the only one's that have held my interest.

Oh yea, Guild Wars! I love that game too.

I played EQ1, EQ2, Tabula Rasa, Eve, Age of Conan, Lineage 2, Runescape, Star Trek Online, WoW, and... I'm sure there were one a few more.

I got my first WoW character to L80 in 1.5 weeks, two months ago. :->

I'm in the FFXIV alpha, now. I'm in the APB beta, now.

Regarding APB, I haven't been so pumped about an MMO since EQ2. And now that I've played the beta, I know it's exactly what I'm looking for. APB is awesome.

Regarding FFXIV, it's got a long way to go... which is why its alpha. I think it's going to be an AWESOME alternative to single player FF / Lost Odyssey type games. As far as being an MMO, it was so different that I was completely lost. Given the very short windows of play time in the FFXIV alpha, I was not able to get far.

The MMO that I've played the most is EQ. I also subscribed to Shadowbane for 3-4 months and the free trial month of Horizons. Other than that, I've either tried the trial versions or beta's of WoW, Vanguard, EQ II and LoTRO.

I played WoW for a month, thought the game might be fun if I cared about the Warcraft lore at all, and if it didn't look like kindergarten kids designed it.

Other than that, the only other MMO that I have really given a shot is LOTRO. I've played it off and on basically since launch. I have 2 characters at the level cap, a hunter (ranged DPS) and a champion (melee AoE DPS). I also have a burglar (debuffer) and a guardian (tank) that are coming along nicely.

So here's my hunter..

Andoraen, Hastener of Fate (LOTRO has a lot of titles that get bestowed upon characters for various reasons...I like "Hastener of Fate", "Executioner of the Wicked", and "Vanquisher of Thaurlach" the most) at Gathburz, which is a staging point for the assault on Dol Guldur

And the champion, Amsolir (I don't remember what his title is) rolling around Mirkwood

Definitely looking forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Is anyone else falling over themselves waiting for information on the Warhammer 40k MMO?

I'm hoping they'll go Planetside style with it and make it an action game as opposed to the traditional RPG style. I'm just really not in the mood to trade autoattacks back and forth waiting for timers.

I'd like a 3rd person action game. Ultra-violent PvP focused with enough PvE encounters to make sure their is enough to do and to provide ways for newbies to learn to play and gear up. It might be heresy to say it, but if it was a persistent world, massive battlefield action game with a style of combat similar to Gears of War, I think it could be insanely fun, gritty and intense.

Ahh yes, played some AoC as well. How much better has that gotten since launch?

Almost exponentially. Every patch has improved upon improvements, new areas and rebuilds and gear system changes and so on, raid content and alternate advancement systems and factions and earned combat mounts you develop like a little familiar or something.

12sky2 was a great great when I played it last summer.. a lot of fun and it was still new so not many people had a lot of stuff. Now everyone has high level items and etc. so I'm not sure how great it would be but I had a lot of fun with it.

It was your basic martial arts MMORPG like the others but something about it made it better than the other ones I've tried.

Everquest
Star Wars Galaxies
Final Fantasy XI

Hopefully never again!

Played WoW for about 1.5 years
WoltK was boring/too easy
Sold account
Profit
WoW killed MMO's for me

Played just about every newer MMO, back to FFXI and SWG. Played WoW for about four years and called it quits. I think my most memorable MMO was FFXI just because of the community; I don't think I've met nicer people in any game than that one and I hope FF14 will be the same, but I know it won't.

Just waiting for SW:TOR to come out and FF14 (beta please!)

In order of when I played them:

1. Asheron's Call
2. Dark Age of Camelot
3. Asheron's Call 2
4. Star Wars Galaxies
5. World of Warcraft
6. Aion

I barely touched AC2 and SWG. Not very good games....

Playing in that order I'd assume you played post COTF. Believe it or not they're two entirely different games.

Currently playing Warhammer Online, a great large scale pvp MMO to hold me over until Planetside 2.

no ones mentioned it so i will. but i lost about 2-3 years of my life to maplestory. yeah its 2d, and childish looking but its srs business (cuter version of wow?). i still play to do boss runs.

not really a rpg type person so i never really got into the type... friend talked me into maple mmorpg and its the only one i've played for a long time. im almost quitted as bfbc2 has taken up most my time now-a-days.

edit: feel free to bash the game lol ive heard a lot of what people think of it (and i dont really disagree with most) and idc.... i still <3 my friends i've made on there.

WE didn't mention it for a reason! I kid I kid,... I also played SilkRoadOnline before the online shop opened and ruined it. Man say want you want about the koreans but graphically all their mmo's leave ours in the dust. I occasionally see gameplay from newer mmos over there. Jesus christ.

I am back playing Aion since they released the 1.9 patch with fixed nearly every single issue the community had with the game. I shelved my 50 Chanter for now and I am working on leveling up alts to 30 so I can have the full flash jerkin set for a twinked ranger. :)

I've played WoW, Warhammer, LOTR Online, Guild Wars, and probably some I'm forgetting...WoW is the only one I've been able to really get into a put a ton of time into. Currently that's the only one I'm playing but I very much am looking forward to Star Was: The Old Republic.

Ultima Online - 2 years
FFXI - 2-3 torturous years...f that
WoW - 5 years quit last December yay

Looking forward to Old Republic since I love Bioware.
Been really glad I've been able to control myself and not let MMOs affect my school/work.

Ultima Online, 1 month on official servers, 9 months in groups of 3 months off and on on private servers.
Ragnarok Online on private servers for around 2 months.
Guildwars for a year.

Looking forward to Swordman Online and Guildwars 2. SW TOR looks cool but iunno... I probably won't get it.

ATTN: People playing WAR. Has it gotten any more balanced and less bug glitches? I loved the public quests. But the PVP end game was really fucking awful to be honest...

Also, how is LOTRO? I have never gave 2 shits about LOTR but those graphics have me intrigued. How is the game play? Community? End Game? PvP?

Started with Guildwars. Played on and off for 3 years.
Tried WoW, got to level 30 twice and quit.
More Guildwars.
Played Wow and wasted 500 hours in six months gearing my paladin up to tank ICC.
Quit WoW and am now playing Guild Wars on and off again.

Played WoW from launch until Sept 25th, 2009 when I started Aion. Aion was fun when the servers had lots of people. Now there's very few people and it's boring. I ran the largest legion on the server and after we defeated the opposite faction, and our own faction (boss camping ftw!) it became unbearably boring. Sometimes I wish I had just left the Asmodians take something so we could have fun taking it back. If you start playing Aion, don't come to Meslamtaeda server as it's a ghost town. 1.9 patch can't save a lack of people playing.

So I bought APB to try next. I might try LOTRO as I always pick up the box in Wal Mart and glance it over. Mark's toon may have sold me on that. :)

I've played so many MMO's

The Realm
Everquest
Asheron's Call 1 and 2
Everquest 2
Dark Age of Camelot
WWII Online
Earth and Beyond
Planetside
Shadowbane

Played for a period of time:
1. Asheron's Call - best loot tables and one of the best skill systems ever, great sence of "large world to exlore"
2. Dark Age of Camelot - best pvp (pre-frontiers) ever
3. WoW - played for a bit over a year, the pvp was shit so I quit
4. Warhammer Online - Could have been WoW PvE with DAoC PVP, but they messed it up
5. Age of Conan - it started off as epic fail, not gonna go back without my guild and its had its chance

Played and Dropped: (in no particular order)
1. Shadowbane - just never got into it, not sure why, my guild friends loved it
2. Asherons Call 2 - pure shit
3. Auto Assault - pure shit
4. City of Heroes - didn't like it, but it was well done
5. Aion - GRIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNDDDDDDDDDDD (korean mmo)
6. Planetside - was too poor, but loved it
7. Guild Wars - didn't hook me enough
8. Lineage 2 - griiiiinnnnndddddd (korean mmo)

I'd love to see a combo of Asheron's Call and DAoC....

I miss Rallos Zek EQ pre PoP with every ounce of love in my body.

That being said, I really need a new MMO. I heard they announced Planetside 2 and EQ Next (aka- 3)

Haven't heard either. There was a rumor they were going to announce a planetside 2 but instead it ended up be some kind of in game event.
