For those of you who don't know what an Aqua Computer Multi-Tool is I have the following pic:

Multitool1.jpg

I had one of these tools, but it disappeared one day so I bought two more of them. So I have an extra one. Anyway I have always been puzzled as to what the dang holes are for. Now those Germans at AC are noted for bling, but usually in some pretext of engineering in the way they do things. The top is obviously a bottle opener for your favorite brew and the other cut-outs are for tightening or loosening up various BSPP fittings.

So I am willing to send a Multi-Tool anywhere in the world (assuming the US Postal Services can get it there) to the person who comes up with the best answer as to why or what those holes do. I will be the sole judge of this since I am putting up the Multi-Tool, but I guarantee someone will be the winner in the next 30 days.

Let the mayhem and BS begin.

I would have to say one hole is for a Keychain, one is for a lanyard and perhaps the center one could possibly be used to attach a pocket clip add on. or any combination of those things.

That big hole at the top is obviously a beer bottle opener. Looks like the designer of the tool had some foresight. :D

The smaller holes is for hanging the tool on a lanyard, keychain, neck-chain/strap or similar, yes I know one has already posted this. But I think the bigger hole in the center is for measuring the correct tubing-size! And maybe one of the smaller ones are for measuring the center of a tubing, or maybe not. :p

bottom 2 holes are so you can put a nice chromed chain through them and wear it as bling when you go out!

I actually talked to the fine people at AC last week and they told me the holes were there so that you can spin this puppy on your pencil when you are bored during class :p

You might be on to something here as I just checked and the hole in the middle is the same size as AC tubing!

all three holes are for measuring tubing. the different sizes are for OD and ID. it looks as though the two smaller holes are just a bit different so i am going to say its for diff wall thickness or the ID has to be bigger than one but smaller than the other. (germans seem to like those between this and this tools for specific tolerances i had at least 2 for my old VW)

This seems the most likely explanation, but why are the two smaller holes offcenter in their little rectangles?
This would drive a German engineer crazy so there must be a damn good reason,eh?

Center hole is 8mm, so it is used to make sure that P&C tubing is the right size. The smaller holes are for measuring metric bolt sizes for holding down waterblocks.

Do the 2 smaller holes match any thread paterns in which the AC blocks are installed? Perhaps the 2 smaller holes keep threaded posts aligned while tightening down nuts?

Thin spanner in the wrench widths 13 mm, 15 mm and 19 mm for the assembly of the Plug&Cool of ports (G1/8 straight compactly, G1/8 bent largely, G1/4 straight)

Female hose connectors (G1/8 and G 1/4)

Key for connection sets of the Eheim 1046 and 1048 pump

The bottle opener makes the tool ideal companion on LAN Parties and in the everyday life.

it matches the screws on the twinplex water blocks so when your threading the plastic screws in you dont snap them off by twisting the block

Stab in the dark.

Could it be perhaps for the barbs of your radiator to go through? Like Pilot holes and positioning for your barbs of your radiator to poke through your case?

And maybe the big hole is for how big you must make the hole for their piping to fit through?

They are probably their so you can like tie your cd player (no not mp3) to it and it acts as a shield when you drop it.... lol

Now I like that one :D

Please expand upon or better yet how about a pic?
Why? I dont own either pump. I don't want the tool either, even though I got it right.

i would say they are placed where they are so they dont weaken the sides of the socket tool they surround.

Theory 1: The larger (center) hole is clearly for measuring the OD for tubing, the remaining two holes are for measuring screw diameter used for hold down on block or for actually assembling the block.

Theory 2: When mounted through the larger hole people incorrectly identify as a bottle opener on The Staff of Ra which is exactly six kadam in height (but then you have to take back one kadam to honor the Hebrew God) and held in position in the Well of Souls in Dusseldorf, sunlight shining through the two smaller holes will show you the path to the Temple of Small Bore Cooling. Remember: No matter what happens, don't open your eyes or your face will melt off.

Theory 3: I need to stop watching movies while I drink.

I'm liking the asking questions.. but in all seriousness, the big hole we are calling a bottle opener is there for really big nuts and so you cut that part off and tape it to a metal pipe to use as a wrench, then the rest of it you punch out and make into little fake coins and ask aqua computer if they will take them as bling money for 200 bucks a peice.

How do you know it is right? I don't know what is right yet. ;) Besides it's always handy for popping a beer cap. :D

they are mounting holes to mount it on your desk counters what ever so you can use your bottle opener with one hand

I kinda like # 2. :D

I was thinking that the big hole represents the Sun over the House of Aqua and the two little holes are representations of the Earth and the Moon who revolve around Germany.

Now that has definite merit. :D

Probably true... are you perchance a German Engineer? :D
