Brink: could have been so much more than it turned out to be, what a waste.
Frontlines: Fuel of War: sp was meh, mp absolutely sucked.
Farcry 2: first one was SO much better than this piece of trash. :(
 
I even thought FarCry 2 was better than Metro 2033.
FarCry 2 prolly would have got higher marks if they did not try to name such a mediocre game, that had nothing to do with it's supposed predecessor, with the FarCry name. No Jack, no Valerie, not FarCry.

The new Wolfenstein made me want to throw my gaming rig across the room, then drive down to Walmart and execute every last console I saw on the shelves. It's only redeeming quality was that it actually had a demo. Since I am not a day one buyer, or a preorder sort of guy, that demo saved me from being fleeced.
 
Soldier of Fortune: Payback - Just a budget POS developed by an amatuer studio. How could you do this to the SOF IP, Raven!!

Red Faction: Armageddon - No way near as good as Guerrilla. From awesome open-world kinetic and dynamic gameplay to a linear, generic, point A to B shooter. The victim of a short development cycle and corporate desire to cash in on the franchise.
 
I was bummed with Medal of Honor reboot. I thought it'd be the one to drag me away from Call of Duty. Oh well.
 
Master of Orion III - steaming pile of shit
Heroes of Might and Magic V - thanks for ruining my favorite franchise. They better not fuck up VI.
Civ 5 - not as bad as the above two but I found it very disappointing.

Oh, and with how recent this is, how did I not put this up?!

Dungeon Siege III - what a fucking mess, I've never seen such a horrible viewpoint. Even with patched controls I couldn't stand playing a game where I feel like I'm practically blind. I was desperate for a Diablo 2 style dungeon crawler to tide me over till D3 and bought full price...UGH.
 
Far Cry 2 was one of the biggest disappointments I've ever experienced. X3 the Threat was really bad too. Medal of Honor was disappointing as well but, I found that out during the open beta tests thankfully.

Got another one to add to the list.
LA Noire. That game is so boring, and not fun. It doesn't even look that amazing. Way over-rated. Taking it to gamestop as soon as Rage comes out.
 
Sup Com 2...can't believe I spent american money on that game...even if it was only 15 dollars. Crysis 2. And X3 looked promising but man you really got to get into that game...just not enough action..You spend most of your time flying around.

I'm tired of these dumbed-down console sequels. BF3 was my first pre-order ever. If they did anything to jets and choppers to make them easier, man...it would not be good. In that that series you either fly...or you don't.

I also forgot the biggest disappointment of them all, Star Control 3. I think Star Control 2 may be my favorite game of all time...or very close and they just destroyed it. That was a strange game that was actually better on the console than on pc (3do).

Any of the Stalker games ever made , fucking boring garbage I really don't get what people see in them.

Metro 2033 - Great graphics , horribly simple game play and lame ass story.

Far Cry 2 - Probably the most deceptive game ever made .. looked like a GTA clone done right until 10 mins passed and you realized it was a giant hunk of trash.

Dragon Age 2 - Had nothing to do with the first game other than a crappy story link , completely on rails , only one city to do anything in. That entire development team should be fired for doing such a great job with the first and totally failing in the sequel.

Crysis 2 - Cheaply rendered graphics (all of it is lens flare and smoke effects) that seem to fool so many morons into believing it has "good graphics" when it really doesn't. Story line is boring and rehashed alien invasion crap that has taken over NYC. Also seeing "push A" during certain game sequences made me wanna vomit. Fuck you Crytek.

Frontlines : Fuel of War - Lots of promise , cool story line that is believable but a total mess in reality. Needed another 6 months of development to iron out bugs as it ran like ass. The MP also needed more time in the oven , couldn't connect to a server until the 3 patch released but was constantly crashed to the desktop randomly.

Brink - Talk about a let down. This was from the same development group that did such a great job with Wolfenstein MP? Did they all start sniffing Comet during the development cycle and just forget that a game actually needs to be play tested before release? Was boring as hell to play , complete TF2 rip off with a crappy lame Parkur style run and jump that never worked out.

F1 2010 - Completely unbalanced and it was supposedly developed closely to show the new rule set in place with F1 when it in fact was utterly broken. Suppose to be simulation but ended up being more "arcade" like than accurate. Game refused to work well with my G27 Logitech wheel and it never game me an accurate "deadzone" calibration that made it respond well enough (which is critical in racing games).

Gears of War (PC) - Completely fucked up , couldn't install it until 6 months after I bought it due to a GFWL bug that took ages to get fixed. MP was completely broken and split up so much that I never got in more than 6 matches ..ever. Crashed constantly , any time I accidentally pushed the GFWL button it crashed the entire game. Probably my biggest regret out of this entire list (although I loved the console version..).
 
Biggest disappointments (because I was REALLY looking forward to these):

Unreal 2
Quake 4

And yea... most of the recent games...I own so many games, but it feels as though I don't like many of them.
 
One for me would be Death to spies: moment of truth. It was nowhere near as complex and challanging as the first. Then once it kinda started to get good, it was over to quickly. I played through the original once on every difficulty setting because I thought it was great. Moment of truth was simply a one time play through.

Wow Death to Spies was my favorite game in a long long time :eek: I got to the last mission (I think) and never managed to get through it though (one in the Nazi camp, with the train tracks and body dump pit)

Sad to hear about the sequel.
 
I have not had too many dissapointments becuase I tend to skip a lot of games

the last big name game I got for PC was Batman AA and for $20 it is boatloads of fun....
 
So much hate for Far Cry 2. I have no idea why. I love that damn game. :p

you guys are just doing it wrong...

I'm going to get chastised for this but Super Mario Galaxy. The game got such great reviews I figured it had to be good. I got bored within an hour.

Now that I think about it, the Wii was pretty much a disappointment in my eyes. Super Smash Bros is the only reason I'm glad I owned one.

Gonna have to agree with whoever said L4D 1/2. The second game was what the first game should have been.

The first Killzone, the original on PS2. All that hype and how it was going to be the Halo of the PS2 and it was not up to par. The sequels are good though.

Red Alert 3. RA2 was a damn classic. RA3 did no justice.
 
Oh yeah.. Dungeon Siege 3.

Just got reminded what a POS this game is from another thread.

The disappointment in Dungeon Siege 3 is right up there with the non-event that was Space Siege. Only the disappointment with DS3 is just a little bit more intense because of the value I placed in the previous titles.

My updated list of bombs:

To be honest, the only games I have typically been disappointed with are sequels to games I really enjoyed. The only reason I havent listed shitty games like Hellgate is because I didnt have something to base a comparison on.

I dont usually get hyped for games at the risk of bitter disappointment, but after playing the shit out of RF:G and enjoying it so immensly, Red Faction: Armageddon is my biggest disappointment of the decade.
 
Honestly, the only game I've ever disliked was Homefront. HF was horrible.
