come on, no one is that stupid. Hes doing it for attention.
So he is the reason I can't buy RWD or stick shift cars anymore...
Wait, so if I burn out at every light in my Mustang GT, and drive super fast like an idiot... it's the car's fault? Wow, glad to know that. I thought I was doing something wrong.
While normally I live by the motto, never attribute to malice that which can be explained by ignorance. Either this guy is seriously ignorant or a genius. His views are skyrocketing and in a world of views matter, I'm sure hes making out like gang busters on ad revenue.
He makes a comment clearly stating he drives "super fast".
Enough said - lots of fast driving over 8 months - no surprise his back tyres are worn out.
If I were Tesla, I'd tell him to suck it up and buy some tyres. Then politely suggest after he fits the new tyres he sells the car to someone with half a clue.
And what is even better is he is posting about it on youtube...he is so going to get pwnt.
And wtf AWD goes faster? What an idiot.
I guess I'll have to accept that answer. I consider driving fast, doing 80-90 on the interstate. Not peeling the tires every time I take off. Stills seems like a lot of peeling to wear them bald in 8 months. Guess I'm just a Miss Daisy driver, I couldn't imagine having slicks after 8 months.
Worst part to me is claiming to be "very very thrifty" and clearly living in a newer luxury neighborhood and owning a 60,000 "used" luxury car, with luxury rims.
There's nothing super thirty about anything in that video.
You're suggesting someone drive belt showing tires in the snow? And then call them a snowflake. He probably sounds rather coherent and thoughtful to other blissfully ignoramous' and layman.
It's amazing that they checked into a hotel near their home because he couldn't handle driving it home with light snow. Talk about snowflakes.
He got his calipers painted.
Well if you don't drive like an asshole, it can be done relatively safely. Front tires were good get rolling slowly 15-20 with the flashers on and make it home. You're suggesting someone drive belt showing tires in the snow? And then call them a snowflake.
El oh fucking el
You forgot number 6. He is a dumbass driving around on bald tires trying to kill his family repeatedly.Holy crap guys. How many of you watched the whole video? Other than, yes, he should have been rotating the tires, he has good reasons for wanting to sell the Tesla. Also understand, not everyone is a motorhead. Basic maintenance, blah, blah blah - the fact of the matter is, I'd be willing to bet more drivers DON'T check their tire tread regularly than those who do.
Some facts from the video:
1. He's not asking Tesla to refund him for the car, nor is he going after them for any wrongdoing.
2. He's not blaming Tesla for any of these issues - he states it's just not the right car for his use case.
3. The tire wear was caused partly by him, which he admitted, but he also said other constructive things that everyone seems to be overlooking: a) he basically said the car had a lot of power, and for him (and likely many others), that's not a good thing - without discipline or practice, it's dangerous (you can't argue against that), and b) Tesla had a known issue with wheel sensors, which I'm reading between the lines was a traction control issue, and that would be more dangerous in conjunction with a). The sensor issue accelerated the wear on the rear tires.
4. Reasons he didn't like the Tesla: a) rear wheel drive which causes different handling characteristics and increased tire wear in the back (if you don't rotate as was mentioned in this thread), b) preferred longer range, c) front fascia could look dated and was hard to remove in one extreme case, d) a sensor issue that took 8 months to fix, e) it doesn't fit their family as well as another car could. Ok, fine, you can keep or get rid of something for whatever reasons you want - what's so unreasonable about these issues?
5. He's not saying to avoid the car. He's just giving his opinion on it. Quote from the last part of the video: "I'm not saying don't get the 2012/2013, I'm just saying have a pause, make sure that it's the right car for you, and you're ready to live with the rear wheel drive and the lower battery range. If you're willing to deal with those things, go ahead and get it." Not everyone would want to drive a super car every day - is that a bad thing?
He wanted a Tesla. Most people I know do. He was in a financial position to go get one and try it, so he did. Wish I could say the same. It ended up not being the right fit for him, so he's moving on.
What is everyone so worked up about? Give it a rest. Also, by clicking his video and getting worked up about it, you're only helping him more.
Get rid of the Tesla. Doesn't know what to get next? This guy sounds like a SmartCar kind of guy. Maybe a Honda Fit kind of person.

When you continually drive a car that is trying to kill you and your family.....you are an idiot.Tread or no, he was spinning the tires because of a combination of inexperience with a powerful car and the (what I'm assuming is a) traction control issue. He said it would happen even when he was trying to keep it in control. The tires didn't start that worn - they had to have spun to get that way in that amount of time.
He's saying it's not the right car for him and the bald tires are a symptom. So he's an idiot for identifying that and finding something that suits him better?

When you put yourself and your family continually into a car that you think is trying to kill you, you are an idiot.I'm really not trying to be a prick, but my point was - he's not. He's selling it for that exact reason...
He's an idiot for not knowing, and apparently not caring, about general maintenance. According to the information I've found online, tires should be rotated every 12,500 miles. Dollars to donuts he's put a lot more than 12,500 miles on those tires within the 8 to 9 months he's had those tires.
