I do not believe this is real. Check the spelling of "enableing"...

A single HDMI + 2 mini DP makes little sense too. With "6 displays" why not have a few more mini DPs? Otherwise the back of the card would be half empty...

One mini DP connector can do 3 displays by itself and this summer we should be seeing Display port hubs for sale. Also remember that DVI and VGA ports are being phased out with support for them ending by 2015 so that is not something I would use to determine it as being fake.

That said, GCN 2.0 IS coming either late Q4 this year or early 2013 which is why I say this is a pretty good fake.

its possible its real given that it doesn't say when its coming out so this is more then likely the 8k series thats rumored to be coming out Q4'12/Q1'13 like lorien mentioned.

but then again there is a possibility that all the person did to fake it was steal some data points from the GCN based enterprise level cards and pass it off as a 7970 replacement. 4.5TFlops out of a GCN based firepro i could actually see being legit because on the desktop/consumer side there is absolutely no reason for that kind of computing performance. the other reason i'm leaning toward this direction is the fact that it does only use HDMI and 2x DP outputs which most high end enterprise level cards have moved to just using strictly HDMI and/or display port for the past few years.

Right as kepler is about to be announced... Guess amd is a little timid of gk104.

Only 1.2x R7970? Doesn't sound like 8 series, but like a higher clocked R7970. Or one with more SPs.
No DVI doesn't make sense either.

Hmm there are other ways to know that this is a fake.
Mainly, the colors aren't the proper AMD tone.

I'm honest, the first thing that i noticed is that the red wasn't the proper tone at all, look up the AMD slides of the past, i don't remember them ever using that one.

Also the way the red where the text diffuses to the sides instead of the top and bottom, yeah that wasn't made with the AMD original presentation setup.

Photoshop

And the name isn't apart of their current naming scheme.
The specs are sparse and vague. If AMD was releasing an official slide, it would have more specs like X billion something, OpenGL this and xflops that.

The last beast card AMD is releasing this gen is the 7990 in April.

Didn't the 7970 have more than 2048 cores? The thing was that those cores were disabled or cut for the sake of power consumption and heat output, and that the number of GCN cores didn't divide evenly or something. I know someone here posted the actual count before or during the 7970's announcement in December 2011.

Regardless if a fake slide, I would not be surprised a higher end, faster 7900 series slotting in between a 7970 and 7990 would come out. Maybe it's a refresh to compete against the Kepler series. Maybe AMD knows something about Kepler that we don't. Who knows? Right?

Radeon 7975? Or 7980?

Pfft, how many sources with insider info claims that GK104 is around 7950 speed? Don't think they have anything to worry about

Well the editor here said it's getting 40-50% higher results than the gtx580 in canned benchmarks, sooo.....

  • Enableing is a typo.
  • Tenerife name has nothing to do with current nomenclature. EDIT actually it's the name of an island, so there's a good chance it's a legit name.
  • AMD can put DVI, HDMI, and two mDP on the backplane without eating into the full size expansion vent. Removing the DVI port for no reason is a step backwards.

Bottom line: bullshit.

Was going to post that techpowerup posted something as well. I'm sure the current specs and that slide are BS, but I don't think it's BS that they plan on releasing something to help counteract Kepler, if Kepler really is what it's hyped-up to be.

I doubt there will be a faster single gpu than the 7970 from AMD for at least until mid summer if not later in the year. No point pushing anything faster out there. It's too soon.

No DVI doesn't make sense either.

it sounds like a gigahertz edition 7970 don't you think?

they have after all been making a great deal of fuss about their GHz cards...........

1000 / 925 = 1.08x, so that's not enough.
1.2x 925 = 1110 mhz ;)

yeah, i came to the same figure.

it would still fit with their gigahertz brand.
