is anyone having a problem logging in to steam!? i tried to log in today and it is not letting me... any ideas? :(
 
I cant get in either. it doesnt recognise my username. gotta love paying all this money for games and not being able to use them.
 
nice how they have no backup servers/backup power for the information... :rolleyes:

I bet they probably do but not for more than a few hours. Apparently they have no generators, either. It appears that they have no disaster recovery plan in place for these servers as well.

I would think a company like Valve wouldn't have a single point of failure like this. :(
 
the servers are probably on, they would have backup power.. its probably the internet/broadband/isp they use that still isn't back up yet. what good is a backup generator for a server when the lan line isn't working.
 
Its been down since early this morning when I wanted to play. Its down right now. I thought that my account got hacked. I remember in the quake 3 days my serial number was used. Bummed me out. I never got to play that game again.

it isn't that i can't live without CS for a 12-4am session but damn it's still depressing
 
Still down as far as I can tell. I just got a new Ratpadz, and I was itching to try it out in Deathmatch. :cool:

Ratpadz is awesome btw.....I really can't describe how slick the surface is.
 
it works fine for me now... it asked me for my password twice, and took for ever the second time but it let me in.
 
Steam was fine when I was in my apartments, now I'm back home, I can't connect to steam either.

I need my daily DOD:S fix damnit! :mad:
 
Steam is down for me. I have this vision in my head of a room full of servers buzzing away with no one in sight. I then see valve employees playing golf while I sit and click retry over and over.

That can be one of those really annoying coincidences that leaves you troubleshooting for hours just find out that it's STEAM'S fault. Since something changed with you it leads you to believe there's about a 99.9% chance it's a problem on your end.
 
Steam has been down for me since about 11 AM PST this morning, but I just connected and can now play. Woot!

I'm in Phoenix, by the way.

So did I, but the " Internal driver error in IDirect3DDevice9::present() " error message bites me again. WTF Steam. Hopefully Nvidia doesn't suffer from this crap like ATI does. (not necessarily a slam on ATI, but crossed fingers that my 8800GTX won't have this problem like my ATI cards do now).

give me a fucking break, how often is steam down? yeah thought so,, dont like it, dont by the products, i doubt your praising them when everything is working perfectly.

this is something rather out of their control. is like general mahem customers getting pissed that [H]'s host / ISP goes down, - it happens, nothing is %100.
