Steam?

G'Day all,

Updated news from VALVe.

Steam Servers are currently in the process of being located to a different facility.

Approximately half of all accounts should now be functioning normally at this time. The remaining accounts will soon follow.

VALVe are working as quickly and as they can on this issue - there are obviously issues of resources/priority as basics such as essential services are taking priority in such a circumstance - as one would hope.

More news as it comes to hand.

give me a fucking break, how often is steam down? yeah thought so,, dont like it, dont by the products, i doubt your praising them when everything is working perfectly.

this is something rather out of their control. is like general mahem customers getting pissed that [H]'s host / ISP goes down, - it happens, nothing is %100.

my fucking TV works all the time
when it stops working I know to buy a new one

when software works the same way the consumer will stop getting fucked

how often does your cable go out, do you go and get a new cable provider if it goes out for a day, no, not likely.

bad comparison

saying your computer stops working is closer relation to your TV

Content provider / cable / satellite is more like Steam.

Ok, and when your business is like the one Valve has with steam, availability is crucial. This is the reason many companies have mission critical services hosted outside of their offices, and in dedicated facilities, with multiple connections to multiple providers. If they don't take the precautions they can loose money. Don't forget Steam isn't just pushing Valves games any more either, so they are effecting other companies customers as well.

Heh, just to tell you guys, I'm surprised Steam's not down for longer, I live in NW Washington and the storm we had last night was so bad that my entire street was just filled with water and they had six guys and this pump out there pumping water. And I wasn't even in one of the "bad" areas. Seattle supposedly got it really bad.

At least everything's back up now.

when you consider that half life 2 wasn't sold under the same stipulations as my cable was, it is a fair comparison. And you know what my cable and my internet and my cell phone shouldn't ever not work. consumers settling for shit because thats just the way it is, well thats bullshit that wouldn't float 20 years ago.
