Stay classy Nvidia! Viral marketing discovered at chiphell, Kepler rumors debunked

Wow...the nv fanboys are getting desperate...stock 7970 is only 4-5% faster than an OC'd 580 now. The longer Kepler is delayed the more desperate they get. I wish we could stop newbies from posting in the cpu, video card, etc. forums their first 90 days...that way we keep the marketing schills out for new hardware releases.

I don't necessarily agree with your language but I do agree with your premise. He's starting to get as bad as onthemour.

The irony is that in a thread about alleged nVidia shills we get two or three users here who sound like the exact opposite.

LOL...yeah sure newbie. post some more cherry picked benchies.

I'm here to counteract the 7970 haters like yourself and the ass-ult newbie...move along and so will I.

Never said I hated the 7970. Never said I hated AMD. Never said the 7970 wasn't faster than the 580. Never said the 580 wasn't overpriced (at the moment, considering new market developments). I'm not even in the market for a new card, I just upgraded a few months ago.

The only thing I hate is when idiots post a bunch of bullcrap regarding rumors that are never founded, and then proceed to post more bullcrap slamming a non-existent Kepler.

I agree that Full Assault is going a little overboard as well. But so are you, and onthemour. There is almost no difference between the rhetoric, just opposite sides of the fence.

[H] and HardwareHeaven are the biggest joke of "review" sites on the net. I only come here for a good laugh. This place is almost as funny as reading the Sunday comics.

I doubt you will be enjoying a long stay here, then.

Why'd you even sign up for the forums?

Why do you keep saying this? The story is true. Nvidia marketing drones were found at chiphell propagating untrue rumors in an attempt to dampen AMD 7900 sales. Its all being reported on various other websites. Don't you find it odd that no rumors from mysterious chinese sources have appeared in the past 5 days? Hmm! ;)

Honestly, i'm sure AMD has done guerilla marketing at one time or another. But nvidia is definitely more shameful in their tactics. Nvidia just needs to let their hardware do the talking, instead of trying to take cheap shots at their competitor.

Nice graphs...I wonder why [H] is so against using 4X MSAA in BF3 reviews....Oh yeah, now I remember, because it still kicks AMD gpu's in the nuts :D

Apparently you don't understand how [H] tests games.

It was never proven. The only "evidence" was the word of ONE guy on ONE forum.

Just because news is reported does not make it true. I would think anyone who reads news would know that.

Also, oddly enough, the only site I can find that actually posted anything about this as a news story is [H]. There are a couple more that are just forum posts, but that's it.

Ah yes, "dance my puppets!!!".

Usually the last recourse of a shitty troll.

I've never posted any rumors about Kepler since we have no FACTS but when I see new forum members on here just posting about how the 7970 isn't that great and just wait for Kepler I start to question their motives and who they are...this Full Assault posted an obvious fake pic of Kepler cpu-z specs last night and got called out on it. I don't normally question newbies but there have been an awful lot posting trash talk here latley against newly released products....you do the math.

People still reads these crappy benchmarks?

We are in [H] for reasons.....
And there are reasons why no one give a crap about those inaccurate testing...

Yeah, you're here at [H] because they're fanboys like you. EVERY review site has the same or similar numbers for BF3 except this place and HardwareHeaven....Enough said. I'll take Tom's, Xbit, AnandTech, Guru3d, Techspot, Overclockersclub, Hardwarecanucks and Overclock3d over this fanboy site any day.

I agree, Full Assault is sketchy. However, you said it yourself, when people start posting about how great the 7970 is and how Kepler isn't that great (with ZERO facts, obviously, because it's not even out) then I question their motives as well.

Not necessarily saying that's you, but there are one or two members who have been posting that fit this description exactly, and you've been sticking up for them.

You're still at it?
Quick question: Which rumors even came from chiphell or other Asian forums (that have stopped now as you said)? Just because other websites report on this viral marketing stuff (meaning, they copy the story, nothing further) doesn't make it true. You sound like there were rumors on a daily basis that were cut off when the alleged shills were banned. I know of rumors/speculations at 3dcenter.org that were compiled by others and then found their way around the web. Then what Charlie said last week. And the fake slides of course. So again I ask you: What rumors exactly did these apparent marketers put forth? I don't buy the shill story without independent confirmation. Otherwise it's just some idiot posting something and the next day the internet is full of it.

Maverick, don't me wrong, I would love for Kepler to be a monster of a fast efficient card much better than the 7970, because then we'll have real competition, which will hopefully drive prices down. The 7970 is a great card, which says something about the 580 still being an excellent card for last generation, being at least in the same ballpark percentage wise. Just give props to AMD and move on. I think for being new arch for both company cards you will really see them shine the second revisions. Hard to get things 100% right in first revisions...look at BD!

I totally agree with you. Honestly I think this thread should be closed. There is a lot of rumor flying around as fact.

I do give AMD props...I just don't like to see a bunch of badmouthing about the opposite side when it's unwarranted. Don't you feel like that's "kicking them while they're down"? Is that necessary?

If there was some actual proof of this, okay. nVidia would suck. However, the word of some guy on a Chinese forum is not proof. Unfortunately, a few members do not seem to understand the difference and continue to badmouth nVidia as if it were fact.

I don't doubt that both companies have or will do stuff like this before. Just in this case a big deal is being made out of what is essentially nothing (some guy's word).

This is very laughable lol

by the way the bf3 runs ALOT BETTER with a 7970 than a 580especially with resolutions like 5760*1080...wait a minute lol

i own both and i prefer nvidia buti have to say i am using the 7970 because it is just so much more enjoyable being able to turn up the graphics with the 7970 on every single game and have higher frames per second and run them smoother

BF3 is just 1 game. the 7970 kills every other game arguing against that just makes nvidia fanboys sound dumb. just get the best card and enjoy your games

I think the only one arguing against that was Full Assault, and he's been banned.

I'm sure Kepler will turn out to be just as good, no way to tell as of now. especially about price.

7970 is a monster card compared to 580
Why can't Nivdia make an official statement that they can beat this card??? Surely if they could they would right?!

They cannot make a statement regarding that, because AMD's Tech site bribing Competitor will put them selves
into serious trouble. By making a statement like that, its like saying.. "We Nvidia spent a lot of money developing
new video cards only to find out our highest model was just easily beaten by our Competitor in many ways big time,
with that we encourage you not to buy our products because we can no longer compete despite of our efforts and our
current technology for the reason the more we increase our video cards performance, the more heat it produces and the
more power it consumes and the more price we add onto it making it not so very favorable..."

-- Nvidia may not officially accept the fact right now that they got nothing in their arsenal to bring on to the fastest video card
table but the CERTAINTY of loosing the battle against the Radeons is now just around the corners and waiting to knock at
their doors if they failed to match AMD's current 7900 Big Bad Rads.

- Making the situation worst for them is the upcoming release of the 7950s which based on the other Tech site and a tread here
Its BIOS can be modded to 7970s making it more attractive and very very competitive and most of all, the upcoming mighty 7990..

I thought the 7950 could not do the bios mod.
If it can then that would be the end of nvidias kepler and AMD would lose huge sales on the 7970. Could that be why the 7950 is coming out later than the 7970?

If the 7950 does allow bios mod I will by 2 of them and upgrade to x79 to support x16 x16 x8 lanes.

who cares about rumors. When you can get a 7950 in a couple of days for $450 that does the 7970 unlock

http://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-hd79...chmarks-shows-promising-overclocking-results/

Nvidia can say that kepler is 50x mbetter than AMD but who gives a sh!t when you can buy the easily affordable 7950 unlocked that is better than a 580. For that price it will reach to alot more customers than the high end 7970
Within a month that card will go for less than $400

It doesn't unlock, even your link says so:

On another note, The guys reported that flashing an HD7950 with HD7970 BIOS didn’t unlock any extra Shaders which was reported in our previous post.

Tahiti's a good card and all but sheesh, it's a bit ridiculous to spread outright lies that you KNOW aren't true, around.

Yeah i'll have to go with GT on this one, everything i've read indicates that shaders don't unlock on the 7950. It will still be a great card though, esp. oc'ed.
