Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2017)

I've slowly come around to this game.

Took awhile to get the controls to my liking for flying ships. I guess you just flat out can't use a controller on pc in multiplayer and be useful.

It is somewhat fun now, but the grind is kind of ridiculous for the minuscule buffs you can get.

for swbf1 I used a hybrid method, xb360 control for movement then mouse for aiming. worked alright from the couch. didn't make me any more useful though....
 
I think this game is going to need some large patches to fix a lot of the issues. Furthermore, after spending more time with this and Need for Speed Payback, I'm of the opinion that EA is focused on selling microtransaction gambling portals with ludicrously low odds of winning anything of substance.

I skipped both games because of this.
 
Why can't they include the old 2015 maps with this battlefront 2 game. if EA is going to CoD this Battlefront series I don't understand why they don't just add the old maps in as a bonus. Some of the first games (2015) maps were fantastic and are missed.

Need to roll like the Unreal Tournament 2k3 and 2k4 games did...

Essentially engine updates and expansions. Wish EA would do that with Battlefield too!

Would be a good idea considering that they are apparently not charging for DLC maps.....but who knows with EA, bastards might be planning on sticking them into paid loot boxes :rolleyes:

I’ve enjoyed the game. I’m glad I bought it.

Why is it a grind? Because you don’t get 15 upgrades every time you play? So what.

It’s not a grind if you don’t feel entitled to the various upgrades immediately. If you think it is a grind—-simple, play something else.
 
I really just hated the maps, spawn system and weapons. Essentially the infantry bits were no fun in the beta. I could kill the entire other team and not enjoy it.

I’ve got about 30 hours in the game. I play about an hour a day. That’s all I have to spare. I look forward to it each day. So yeah perhaps I did miss the point it’s a miserable game completely ruined by DLC controversy and grind concerns.

No wait — I didn’t. Im playing it and enjoying it and look forward to it each time. Unlike 90% of the complainers in this thread. I wish my buddies would buy a copy and try it, but like the majority in this thread they bought into the counter EA theology and in doing so are missing a genuinely FUN game. I’m not anywhere close to being bored of it.

The thing is we need to stop what they doing dead in its track. They will push and push more shit on the consumer. Then other companies will start doing it and then gaming will crash again. This game is nothing special. Cool you like it w/e but for the sake of future games this shit needs to be stopped now. These are predatory actions that makes games a serious grind for none other then to make you frustrated enough to spend real money instead of a actual meaningful progression system. In their other games it is almost impossible to compete unless you spend real money on you teams. I don't know how is it fun to get curb stomped by someone that just dropped a bunch of $$$ on a game and maxed out all their player stats.

Congratulations, you subjectively enjoy the game.....that does not refute any of Stirling's very intelligently articulated arguments or the backlash against EA for using this game as a trojan horse for predatory gambling mechanics. So by all means keep enjoying the game, you are precisely the apathetic target audience EA is aiming for.

no, I'm not.

I had no plans to buy any DLC regardless. I don't know that I've ever bought DLC on any game ever. Obviously I'm not their target audience.

You are insofar as being an apathetic person who is prepared to put up with that bullshit in a $60 game and also openly deride anyone who expresses revulsion with such practices....any extra money they make on top from DLC is icing on the cake.

It’s a lot of fun.

I quite enjoy my 1 hour a day or so since launch. The heroes vs villains mode is a blast as is the star fighter assault.(my favorite —- and IMO the best flying fighter I’ve played yet) And even the big 40 player mode is enjoyable. Single player is worth a play through too though short. Probably 4-5 hours.

It’s a great pick up / put down type game for those of us with families. Play a few rounds, enjoy.

wow it's already 40% off?!...might be a record price drop so soon after release for a AAA title...

OT: saw Last Jedi last night...overall solid movie but also had some issues...they tried taking some risks and not all of them worked and some of the payoff for the original characters was plain bad...movie did look gorgeous from a visual standpoint...I'll give it an 8/10 but it's closer to a 7.5
 
Btw, I ended up buying this on the PS4. It is a good game and as long as I will only pay 30 bucks for it, I will get that value. I think the SP should take me 4-5 hours. I already spent about an hour in MP or so w/ Heroes vs. Villains (which I enjoyed) and Starfighter Assault (which I really liked as well). Good thing about PS4 purchase compared to PC:

1) HDR
2) BIG SCREEN
3) Starfighter controls
4) Easy to find matches in my region
5) 10 bucks cheaper than Origin in my region

So yeah. I think if I can get 10 hours, I would've gotten my money's worth out of it. Honestly, haven't seen the need for any cards as I am still doing well in MP. Not top 5 well but still OK for my team.

Btw, SP is really a pile of crap but I will finish it because its Star Wars.

And Last Jedi was a retarded movie but I don't know where to rant/discuss about that.

The game is still not getting it with the new dlc. Ea just refuses to allow the artists to actually create. Too many suits in the kitchen. The writing in this game is horrible. They have the game engine and the resources. There just isn't any soul left in corporate ea.

2.) Big screen you say? I'm playing the game on a Samsung KS8500 49". I could use my 65" if I wanted to.
3.) The mouse and keyboard is fine for this. However, I can use a console controller with my PC. Next?
4.) I'll give you this if that's the case.

The single player game is fine. It's not perfect, but I found it enjoyable.

I can’t decide if I want to purchase this...

Question... how well do the controls transition from infantry to vehicle? One of he main reasons I enjoyed bf4 on ps4 so much is using the controller for everything.

I don’t know how kB/mouse would work in start fighter mode or vehicles.

Both work at the same time so switch back and forth between kB/m and game pad at your whim. If you transition into any vehicle there is a delay so it’s super easy to pick up the game pad.
 
I am enjoying the MP but the star cards are ruining it for me. Everyone has reinforced hull and my shots barely do any damage.

Same with Heroes. I walk into a match and get boned very fast. Unless I spend excessive amount of time lootboxing and mining for credits it would take a lot of grind to achieve anything in this game.

Most of the upgrades are no more than 15% at full upgrade. If you are getting “boned” hard, it’s questionable if 15% is going to help you. It more likely they have developed skill in their playtime and know the maps at this point.
